    Thanks so much for the review. This is one of the best ones I've seen to date and it really helps especially when you're 58 like me. Thank you again. Beautiful.

      I'm 48. (I might have said in nearing 50) I really love how blendable these are, but I'm worried they won't stay put that way I want a liner to. Give me a few weeks to put these through their paces. I think there might be better options out there for a budge proof eyeliner.

    • @l.fischer1737
      @l.fischer1737 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the review! Could you list a few options for extremely blendable but setting eye pencils? My lids are extremely sensitive, so I only get one shot with a very creamy product before my lids are peeling off or totally irritated, and most products also irritate my eyes so I start tearing up thus irritating the lids. Would love a kohl that can be used on the whole eye but indeed set so wouldn’t get into my eyes and make me cry.

      @thelipstickgal  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@l.fischer1737 my favorite long wearing formula is from Make Beauty. It's the continuum eyeliner. It's not the creamiest liner in my collection, but it does blend. When it sets, it doesn't budge at all. It's what I reach for when I want to make sure my eye look stays all day.
      This formula from Lisa Eldridge is the creamiest liner I've ever experienced. It just isn't smudge proof or transfer proof like it's marketed. 😔
      I also like the LA Girl Ultimate Intense Stay Auto Eyeliner. It's an affordable, drugstore liner that blends well, and stays all day.

    Thank you so much for your review! I received Cinder Smoke and Ground Coffee today and have been less than impressed. Despite using an eyeshadow primer and water resistant eyeshadow as a base, I had issues. It's like despite being such a dream to apply, the formula just will not set down. I could lightly rub my finger along the liner, and it would transfer off and disappear. I even had issues with it disappearing from my waterline without having watery eyes! I love Lisa and a lot of her products but these do not live up to her claims.

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, I was disappointed at how easily these smudged after several minutes to dry down and set. They don't hold up to the claims.
      I love how easily they glide. Especially to add another layer of liner over the top of a initial line of product. I really like the colors, but they're not going to be my first choice when it comes to something I need to be bullet proof for all day wear. I think these would need to be babysat throughout the day. 😔 not what I'm looking for in a long wear eye liner.

    Bought the coffee and gold. Waiting for my order. I could forgive a little transfer to get a pencil smooth enough that it glides over my somewhat crepey lids. Most are too dry so I just get a mess and have to use liquid or wet powder to get a nice liner effect.

      These glide with almost no effort. That's the magic about these. I did have some fading and some small smudging on my left eye. (the perpetually leaky eye) I'll keep trying these, but I don't think these are kicking my top liner out of it's spot. I want these to be so good, especially for the price, but . . .

    Love the final look that you created! I have been thinking about getting some Victoria Beckham Eye liners and wondered how these compared. Do you have any VB liners? I have been using the new Elf Budge Proof eye sticks for lids and liner and they are great, but obviously not the same quality or color range. But cheap!

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do have a VBB liner (fig) and I like it, but it doesn't stay in my upper waterline without transferring to my lower waterline. That's my only complaint I have with it. I like the deep purple color, it wears well above the lash line, and when it sets (above the lash line) it doesn't move until I remove it at the end of the day.
      I noticed when I was wearing these yesterday that I had product transferring from my leaky left eye (at the corner) to my finger when I was carefully dabbing a tear away. I don't think it was my watery eye that was breaking down the liner, but they didn't completely set. I think these are gorgeous colors, and I love how easily they glide, but I want them to completely set down. I don't think they ever do. That's a shame.

    I picked up the same shades plus the burnt umber. I wore burnt umber today on my upper & forest in my water line. I am a diehard for VB liners but typically I will wear a gel liner in black when I have a full eye look and then on lighter days go for pencil eyeliner. I think these are definitely way softer than VB but also took a little bit longer to dry down.

      Yes, I noticed that I had transfer to my finger when I was dabbing my leaky left eye all day yesterday. That was disappointing. These are described as being able to fully set down and not transfer. I don't think this is going to be able to deliver on that point. I'm worried that people with oily lids, mono lids or hooded eyes will struggle with this formula. It's not what I expected at all. I do love how easily these glide, and build over the top of themselves and other products. I just want it to fully set and be bullet proof.
      If you haven't tried it yet, try tapping a light layer of a coordinating eyeshadow color over the top to set them. That might give you a bit more longevity and less transfer.

      User-Diane: I have oily eyelids and had a hot mess the first time I used the green eyeliner. So I tried the Essence eyeshadow primer the next day, and it stayed for 14 hours. The following day, I tried the Nars eyeshadow primer with the gold liner and it lasted only 6 hours. Thank you for reviewing! I am so tempted by these but at this price point am definitely waiting for reviews. Eyeliner tends to smudge on me too- I usually just use dark shadow to line instead. Curious to hear your thoughts on wear. I’m most intrigued by the dark grey as I don’t own that shade and think it could work well with my blue eyes. And also with some cooler and/or more purple eye shadows in the fall.

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  ปีที่แล้ว

      I love how easily these glide. I love how easy it is to build up color or thicken a line. I wish these set down completely and didn't budge. I was experiencing some transfer from the corner of my leaky left eye to my finger every time I went in carefully to dab tears away. I also saw some slight fading with the gold color I buffed out on the lid. It's a lovely formula, but it's not bullet proof. I really want it to do all things: glide perfectly, build up over the top of itself, fully set, not smudge or melt, and to stay put until I take it off without any fading. That's a tall order. I don't think this formula can do that. Perhaps it's my lack for pro makeup artist skills, and maybe it's the formulation? I'll keep trying these and report back.

  • @lyra2282
    @lyra2282 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I was initially excited for these and I was going to pick up the same colors you did. I watched a review where it was clear that these don't set and smudge quite a bit. I feel that with these claims and at this price point, I expect more from my liners, so these will be a pass for me. There are just much better products out there. It's a shame because I love Lisa and her makeup line, but I feel like the last 2 releases were a bit floppy for me. The liquid lipsticks feel drying, and now these pencils. It's unfortunate.

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've been liking the liquid lipsticks more than anticipated. I'm really much more of a bullet lipstick girlie, but I've been reaching for the two velveteen lips I purchased a lot in the past few weeks. If I over apply, they can feel drying on my lips. If I keep the layers light, I have good success and like they way they feel. I know we're each different and I'm sorry they've not been working for you.
      I'm glad you didn't pick these up. I didn't have this eye look fall apart, but it wasn't bullet proof. I was expecting these to fully set and they don't. I think this formula would be difficult for someone with oily lids, mono lids or hooded lids. I had some fading through out the 9 hours of wear, and had some transfer from my leaky left eye to my finger every time I tried to carefully dab a tear away. I don't think these are going to work well for everyone.
      I love how creamy they are, and how easily they glide. With that sort of formula, there's bound to be some trade offs.

    Even in Lisa's demo video, when she was smoking out her liner as a blown out shadow, I could see a crease right in the middle of that.

      I always enjoying trying new products from Lisa. I'm not sure these will work for me the way I like to wear eyeliner.
      I don't have oil lids and these were still moveable after several hours. I can't imagine how these would work on an oily or mono lid. It doesn't seem to hold up to the 16 hour wear with the no smudging or creasing claim.

      Yes, I'd stick to what works for you right now. When I was watching Lisa's video on these new liners, she said they set down, and didn't move. I haven't found that to be true in my experience. I don't have oily or hooded lids, but I think this could potentially be a problem for people who have oily lids, mono lids or hooded lids. I also continue to get transfer from the top waterline to the lower waterline throughout the day. I'm not as upset about that because there are lots of pencils that do that. I do love how easy these are to buff and blend out. I'm not sure they'd stay put for 16 hours without smudging or melting. They're extremely creamy. Well I, too, was wondering how they compare to the VB liners which I've been using for well over a year. I do not wear primer or put any moisturizer or product on my eyelids-why introduce oil to something you know will just melt your liner! I used to waterline, but found that it made my eyes look smaller (they're not big to begin with), which is also why I don't wear liner on my bottom lid either. So liner goes on and in-between lashes. The VB liners never smudged or transferred and set very well whether kept as a line or slightly smudged. Picked up the LE Burnt Umber and Forest Green. the Forest Green is a stunning color. They glide on better than VB, and after 3 days of wear in warm (but not hot) weather, the LE has not transferred or smudged either for all day wear. So for anyone having issues, try it without any product (moisturizer or primer or whatever) on your eyelid and then see. Hoping for a darker purple than the VB Fig, as well as a good Navy (although the VB Navy is really good.) Key for me is taking it off without ripping out my lashes and both VB and LE come off beautifully with The Body Shop's camomile cleansing butter, then a natural goat's milk soap and water.

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so glad these are working well for you. I love the colors I picked up, but find that they still melt a little at the corners in my waterline.
      These also continue to smudge a bit when I'm wiping away tears from my leaky left eye. 🤷‍♀️ I'm super impressed at how well they glide, but the more I layer up, the harder it is for this product to set.
      I feel like these aren't as sturdy as the VBB liners on my eyes. That VBB liners is killer above the lash line, but doesn't last without smudging in my waterline. I have fig, and I only use it on the top lash and top waterline.
      I'm not upset about my purchase, but I know these will need some babysitting if I'm going to wear them. I wish they didn't. I'd love a formula like this that was 100% bulletproof.

I've also been tempted by her foundation, since I've discovered she has a shade in that is EXACTLY the color and undertone of my skin...but so does Estee Lauder Double Wear, and that one is more affordable, and easier for me to get my hands on.

      @@irairod5160 double wear used to be the foundation closest to my skin tone until I got the Seamless Skin. It's the best match (exactly) in my foundation collection.
      I'll probably skip the pencils except for the special shades. I love Lisa's eye for nuanced color.

    In all fairness, I suppose that if we’re looking for a creamier liner that glides on easily (w/o tugging), is beautifully pigmented & sharpens well, that’s really all I can expect from a high-end liner (& in truth, that’s a lot). Creamier liners simply aren’t designed to set super-well so I can live w/o that aspect if/as needed.

    • @thelipstickgal

      True. Since these arrived, I've been continually reaching for Renaissance Gold. It's such a beautiful color! I just want the product to do what the brand claims it will. It's ok to market it as a creamy liner that won't tug and glides without effort. (all in stunning colors)

    All pencils are great shades. Trust me on this. With your coloring, in the summer, when you self tan, green or teal pencil all around the eye. Smudge. Nothing else but mascara on the eye. If you want to live dangerously, use forest green or deep teal mascara. Bronzer. Shiny nude lips. It’s stunning. Every time I watch you I want to buy Lisa Eldridge. I own nothing from her line. That final result on your eyes was very sexy and sultry in a 1960s Italian movie star way.

      I don't self tan, but I could over bronzer and reach for a colored mascara and one of these pencils. Sounds like a resort vacation look. 😉 great idea.

      I'm not sure these liners are everything they're described as. I love how beautifully they glide and layer in top of themselves and other products, but I was expecting these to be bullet proof. I was thinking the same thing. They're lovely liners, but in the world of "smudge proof" these don't even come close. After 9 hours my look was mostly intact, but I kept my hands off everything and was very gentle when dabbing away the tears from my leaky left eye. Every time I dabbed tears away, I came away with a little liner. That's not smudge proof at all.

      Yes, if they weren't listed as waterproof or smudge proof I wouldn't be upset. I was so disappointed when I swiped over the swatches on the back of my hand towards the end of the video. It let me know I'd have to be extra careful when I choose to wear these, and know that I'd have to babysit them a bit. I have high maintenance makeup. I want to put it on and forget about it.
