Finally someone is doing something unique with analog sticks. The return to center mechanism designs need to be updated. This is extremely refreshing.
his analog module is another level from other 3rd party controller brand
This has no drift? Even though it's analog?
@@Hoshi-qe3yrgiven enough time everything had drift, but you’d be dead 10 times before that happens
@@someoneyoudontknowtrades I say this because of my 7 dualshock 4 that are now paperweights, I no longer have confidence with the analogs 😭
@@Hoshi-qe3yr I had the same problem, sometimes id get stick drift right out of the package. hall effect sticks unlike the potentiometer sticks the dualshock 4 uses wont get stick drift as fast. the upgrade to the hall effects sticks you see in this video is to counteract a re centering problem with hall effects sticks.
These sticks actually feel like an evolution in the way controllers are being designed.
This pad is actually almost perfect in every way and that stick design is brilliant.
That paper push test was a great idea to demonstrate the force required, nicely done.
There's in-depth, and here its science paper level in-depth. I love it. Just came across this channel and micro details and comparisons are absolute god send. Thank you
Thanks for the in depth stick explanation, you also should explain how potentiometer has better recentering than most hall effect sticks, but the JH16 has best recentering for hall effect. Which is why adjustable tension is such a good feature on apex 4
Thanks for the in depth review, I'm planning on buying in Christmas time
They're pushing controller engineering forward, much respect to their team. Excellent design
Excellent review! Just got Apex 4, and learned a ton from the video. Bravo!
So underrated channel; your reviewed is on point.
I suscribed!
My main controller I use is a Scuf Reflex FPS I’ve been waiting for an Xbox like controller like this that has a better response time than a PS5 controller, also you went into full detail about the controller too and even went further and beyond too take the controller apart that’s some dedication right there, this is the first video I’ve watched from you and I’ve only just recently ordered an Apex 4, you’ve got yourself a new sub you’ve earned it awesome video 👍🏻👏🏻
Amazing upgrade of flydigi... Nice work.
wow thanks for the review and thanks to flidigi for designing it and sharing the analogs for you to show they are impresive, I have the vader 3 pro and now I feel like a peasant, even though I love the c and z buttons, I love the apex 4 eva version I would do anything to get it.
i want c z and m5 and m6 like the apex 2 had
I’m so happy we’re getting such high quality controllers now
I have a Flydigi Direwolf for a year. Absolutely amazing controller. No deadzone, analogs are really good to use, very precise, every button have the same weight to press and triggers are really good and precise too. The biggest flaw is not having a way to change more gyroscope options.
The adaptive triggers are amazing ❤
Can you use them in COD mw3 ? In game settings shows the Apex as a dual Sense controller but vibration and adaptive triggers do not work 😞
@@stefibsAre you connecting with USB?
@@emanuelespinoza560 I'm in wireless mode, do you Need to be on cable in order to make It work?
@@stefibs most likely yes
@@lesslighter I'll try this evening with cable
I just got Vader 3 Pro. I have to wait some years to have this one. But I really loved it 😍
Everything about the Apex 4 screams improvements from older Apex controllers. The layout of the boards internals are well though out, and make it very easy to take apart and replace battery or other parts. It's definitely the most advanced controller I have every seen taken apart.
I don't really like the non physical trigger stops though. Also the back. Buttons are really strange to use. Other than that amazing controller
@@Shadowed_Earthback buttons seem strange, but to me they're fine.
@izpcshop7326 yeah I just really like paddles but the 3d plastic ones apparently flex a lot
Very clever design for those sticks
Great gamepad, love this analogs
I have 2 scuf envision pros and ended up maining the Vader pro 3. I absolutely love that thing. This review was excellent and I placed an order for the Apex 4. Thank you!
Where did you order it from?
M confused between the envision pro and the apex 4 which one do u recommend me buying?!
@@jordanlett8464I placed the order on Amazon.
@@LaikenZThey both have their pros and cons. It’s something that you would personally have to test and see which you like better. The Envision Pro is a beast of a controller. It has 500hz polling rate, personally the “best” hair triggers out now. It’s comfortable but a lot bigger than flydigi. Apex 4 is great, 1000hz polling rate, as far as customization, it’s smooth, it’s got Hall effects thumbsticks which the envision doesn’t have. My only flaw is the triggers, they are so bad! At least for me. They’re hair trigger but you will find yourself squeezing them down and it’s fairly easy because it’s a digital trigger. I don’t like it and honestly as of today went back to my Vader pro 3. Honestly it’s #1 above these other 2 beast of controllers. Honestly these are pc Top 3 controllers. You can’t go wrong with any. Check out the prices and see what best fits your budget. They’re all a win. Cheers 🍻
@@jordanlett8464I placed the order on Amazon
Very pretty design!🔥💪🏽
I just got mine and so far it is amazing. My only complaint is that I have larger hands and my index fingers touch that piece near the usb - C port too easily and I have to adjust to avoid it. My only complaint - otherwise - this thing is truly next level
Yeah, that dumb huge chunk of plastic just because they don't want to release updated phone clip...
Can you tell us how the back pallets are configured? Do you need the android app to do it? Or does it work with a button combination
Do you know about the custom back paddles that somone made you can buy them
I just bought the vader 3 pro. Trigger lock is like a mouse click, really good. It probably does not have DS vibration mode.
Latency is also insanely good with the dongle.
I used an extender hub for the dongle.
I really hope they bring back all the features of the previous apexs/Vader
Especially the roulette wheel
this thing is such a beauty
Received this controller today and you posted the video today as well. I always watch your videos as a reference.
I did have two flydigi controllers before. Vader 2 and apex 3. after watching this video, I'm glad I made the right decision.
got mine on Monday, i can say this feels better than my elite 2. only thing that's hard to get used to is the placement of the M buttons in the back. also none of the kontrolfreaks fit on the thumb sticks
Great video and tear down
Great review. I thought I would argue with something, but no, I totally agree with the author. Thank you for your deep and detailed review.
I got the vader 3 pro and it is pretty much the best controller i've ever used. Sticks smooth as butter, mechanical buttons tensioned almost perfectly, responsive and accurate dpad (think an xbox series dpad that feels like a neogeo thumbstick, seriously the best all purpose dpad ever). I cant imagine shelling out over 100 bucks just for an analog stick upgrade. It'll be hard to replace the vader 3 for price to performance.
Awesome review
Very excited to get mine. And I like the english manual 😅
Will be my next controller for sure.
Parabéns pelo seu trabalho. Sempre aguardo ansioso pelas suas reviews.
I wish this had the C and Z face buttons like the Vader 3 Pro. They're a must have for fighters. It's weird how Flydigi's best controller is missing features from their less expensive controller. They will never have an ideal controller if they keep doing this.
They can't put everything in a single controller.
@@rafaelsantosxwell they did with apex 2
@@c-1439clearly not or we wouldn't even be talking about this device
@@rafaelsantosx they can try with the next controller, maybe call it the fly digi apex 4 pro.
they cant sell more controllers if they put all in one or they have to charge alot which will make us buy less
Please do daily drive this! I would like to see the long term durability of the plastic see-saw mechanism!
Holy shit those sticks! Finally hall effect sticks that can brag about not having drift for real. With this new re-centering system, and the mini ball bearings, in theory, there shouldn't be any sort of drift caused by grinding of the materials in the future.
No grinding on the sensors, no grinding on the axis, only grinding on the base in contact with the spring, but it will level itself out.
And the extra tension you get on the sticks is perfect for those extended distance sticks.
That plus easy to fix/replace mechanical switches, this could be one of the most durable controllers ever.
unless the thing making it balanced gets worned out
@@simplydreamersit doesn't look like it would be a huge point of failure. But for sure, making these parts out of aluminium per example would be ideal, but we know that in this capitalist world its not in a companys benefit to create a truly durable product.
@@simplydreamers By the way it looks, it doesn't seem that it wearing out will cause loose sticks, as the floor will still be applying pressure directly onto the thumbstick.
And the axis on which it does the seesaw movement seems to not be an issue either, because it getting worn out wouldn't affect the pushing up on the thumbstick.
Or what piece are you referring to? xP
I got an Scuf instinct pro, Vader 3 pro and apex 4 Eva edition and I love both from flydigi!
Awesome review! The Apex 4 is a bit too much "Hardcore Elite Gamer" for me (feature and price wise) and am very happy with my Vader 3 Pro. But I have to say alI am very impressed! Incredible how much you get for basically half the price of the competition.
Those sticks seem sooo overengineered tho, i love it 😅
This looks like my dream controller, like 90% of all I wanted in a controller is there. The only thing missing is a touchpad for heavy mouse games on pc(which is fine, I can just switch to the steam controller or a dualsense for those games), and using AA batteries instead for longer play time.
Great review vk thanks a lot! This is the video I was waiting for to get one.
The only thing I worry about is how those joysticks are gonna age with heavy use. Because they may be hall effects and not develop drift BUT they have MORE moving parts that could introduce more failing/breaking points than your average HE joystick.
Indeed but only time will tell
ASMR of my dream. Tanks❤
This has been my favorite controller so far the only thing that can make it even better is if they added back the extra shoulder buttons from apex 2 like the ones from razer wolverine. I just hope this thing is durable I have been using it for almost 2 weeks now with the adaptive triggers always on and so far it has been great.
I have a stick problem on my Nacon Revolution (left stick don't get back to center).
Gonna give this Flydigi a try !!
really nice looking controller
Just got the controller, its honestly perfect, and the only flaw i can find is the snap back of the sticks; even though it BARELY affects the sticks, it feels weird to use
razer did the adjustable tension thumb sticks on the onza in 2010 but this controller is fantastic
Good stuff. All I want is haul or hall sticks with no deadzone and drift put in a Sony controller and that would result in a perfect controller for me.
Se não fosse a gameplay, jamais diria que é BR. Bela pronuncia cara, parabéns pelo canal.
Yo VK, Keep going bro !!
Dang, I just bought 2 new Gamesir T3s's. These look so good.
how is the build quality on the bumpers compared to the elite series 2? i've had 4 elite controllers now and im ready to move on these controller seem to be the choice.
how is the D-Pad for fighting game and other game in general?
Great review, as always :)
Do you plan on testing Beitong/Betop gamepads? They have a nice selection of models with different specs, would be great to see them reviewed properly like you do (with a teardown).
As a suggestion for the testing: Launch a 2d fighting game like Street Fighter 2 and test the d-pad by throwing 10x hadoukens and 10x shoryukens from each side, with a game that displays the captured inputs.
hopefully vader 4 will have the same analogs
it will for sure
do you know if the software fix of the d pad also extends to the vader 3 and vader 3 pro?
The sticks remind me of the hall effect gimbals on radio transmitters used for rc stuff (mainly fpv drones). The way the tension adjustment works and how it springs back to center reminds me of them. Radiomasters and i think some Spektrums and other high end transmitters have spring tension adjustment on their sticks but also have friction adjustment as well. I'd love to see more customizability/adjustability in analog stick feel on controllers. And thanks for the great review and teardown.
I've been thinking for a long time about which controller to buy. This is my first controller since I haven't played a gamepad in 15 years. But COD makes me learn how to play the gamepad. And about a week ago, I found out about the existence of a certain company and, of course, chose the latest gamepad, but I still haven't decided because I thought xbox or sony controllers were better. While watching your video in the middle of the video, I ordered Apex 4. Thanks for the review.
Hey there VK! I've seen on PCGaming Wiki that an update to the software allows the controller to be run and recognized as a Dualsense in Steam. Would that make the adaptive triggers work like a Dualsense out of the box without going through the Flydigi Software launcher, and have support for adaptive triggers in games that aren't mentioned on FlyDigi's list? Stuff like Helldivers 2, for example? This would really push me towards this controller instead of others, and I can't find this info online :( Thank you, and keep up the great videos!
I need some help with the adaptive triggers. Just open the app, click on the game at the adaptive triggers screen and launch normally within steam ?
Amigo, sabe dizer qual o tamanho dos analógicos e com qual borrachinha ou kontrol freak ele é compatível?
Could you speak to how the trigger lock mode feels? My main concern about upgrading from the Vader 3 is that I love the trigger locks on the Vader 3.
great in-depth review as always, I was on the fence with this controller vs the vader 3 pro because of the lack of trigger lock but I think I'm going to have to grab a pair now knowing it has the simulated locks.
I do have one question though, does using the motors at full force for the trigger lock significantly impact the battery life? I imagine it might but no clue how much power the motors really draw.
Not really, I used the apex 3 for a while and the battery life was longer than the vader 3 pro
Vader 3 has 800mah I think apex 4 has 1500 almost the double!
that's good to hear, I guess having a charging dock should make it a non-issue too.
also, I love the use of keyboard lube on the buttons, I've been doing it with all my controllers for a while now too, it especially helped the 8bitdo neo geo clicky stick feel much nicer. my dream feature would be if controllers started having hotswap switches like keyboards too. Are the face button switches here standard mouse switches and are the dpad switches the same height too? I am not the biggest fan of loud clicky buttons, it would be interesting to try mod the kailh silent mouse switches into the apex or vader.
they are indeed mouse switches but they're SMD switches like this one pt.aliexpress.com/item/32976422040.html@@caretnose
Love the new in-house design they made - looks a little over-engineered but still innovative. Based on my experience with the Vader 3 Pro and the initial round of feedback surrounding this one, I can see why Flydigi can call themselves the #1 controller in China (and not just because of the quantity they sell). Now if only they can release it in black... but I'm not hopeful for that one since they seem to pick either white or black for the Apex, outside of special editions.
I imagine that they will probably improve on the design later. It seems "over-engineered" but it is providing features that we haven't really seen on many other controllers.
Hi, is the dpad issue also fixed with the vader 3 pro? (i.e all direction buttons being pressed at the same time)
I really appreciate your in-depth analysis on products. I can't find anything else on TH-cam close to your content. Can the analog sticks take Kontrol freak thumpsticks ?
Glad you enjoy it!
Does it have gyro on steam deck? I have the apex 2 and vader 3 pro and you can't use their gyro on steam deck
Is adaptive trigger work on Bluetooth connection? Or just adapter and wired.
Idk if it’s the same technology but Razer made a controller that you could increase and decrease tension on the thumbsticks. This was years ago and I had two of them and they both stopped working within a year.
Xbox elite series 1 and 2 also have them
Looks neat, kinda excited about the vader 4 pro, love my 3 pro.
Select Button position is meh, but I'm fine with it, the biggest issue that I have are the A,B,X,Y buttons, they are a bit harder to press than e.g.
An Xbox controller, not much but yea I wish it wasn't that hard.
I got this controller and removed the rumbles to make it lighter since the weight hurt my hands while gaming, I was wondering would the controller work without the battery if I used it wired on pc? The battery weighs a lot so removing that would help so much
very interesting tension mechanism on the joysticks. i wonder if the plastic will wear down fast since it's a plastic post rubbing against a plastic plank. would be interesting to see a follow up video after 3 or 4 months of use!!
I think that the plastic parts are lubed from the factory because the stick feels really smooth
Do you know where/if replacement batteries are available for the Flydigi Apex 4?
Looks nice, but I'd really miss the extra shoulder buttons and C and Z from my Apex 2.
Buy Vader 3 Pro. What a prob?
@@Psychotoxic86 Vader 3 Pro doesn't have extra shoulder buttons.
@SLE3PR This is true. They changed the phone holder mounting design. I hope they will change it again.
I own this controller too and by far is the best ever had
Same. All around best gamepad I've ever own (i have 100+ in collection).

2. Thrustmaster Eswap Pro/X. Sticks a THE MOST ACCURATE on the market, i swear it's the just next level, even better than apex 4. Abxy also is amazing, silent and nice to press mechanical buttons. But it's wired, R and L buttons are very loud, triggers and rumble mediocre, gamepad is very big, so i play with him Forza 5, driving so so precise and sensitive. For all shooters where i will need razor aim i will also prefer Eswap. But for immersive and single games apex 4 better. More comfortable in hands, better rumble, all buttons perfect to click, etc.
3. Xbox elite series 2. This thing have very many technical problems, but it's just very comfortable when it's work. Now apex 4 replaced him all the ways.
Other gamepads great in one thing, suck on other, so this three is the best for me.
Legal, não sabia que vc era BR, mt bom o vídeo
Guys is there any way to use adaptive triggers in cod mw3? It show the controller as dual sense but vibration and triggers do not work
Hey guys! Which controller would you rather choose? Turtle beach Stealth ultra or Flydigi Apex 4. And if anyone here did try both of these controllers. Which of them have a better screen and in controller UI? Thanks
are there random disconnects using the dongle like with the vader pro 3?
Aw, not again! Why all gamepads out there feature asymmetrical sticks placement? Why my left hand grip should be different from my right hand?
his analog module is another level from other 3rd party controller brand
one of the best x box controller
How does the Gyro to mouse feel?
Can you compare it to a Dualsense with Steam input gyro?
Looks like I have received my controllers before you. I love my flydigi apex 4. But I found the triger lock mode would still get clicked in if you apply a bit more force
That's the ideal Discord controller ever. Need that color scheme options 😆 (i order one too)
Amazing controller.
Would you say the form factor is the same like an Xbox Elite Series 2 ?
I tested the outer deadzone and on adapter mode it reached .99997 for both sticks. It’s not an issue for me but I wonder if it’ll affect some games.
I love this controller! Definitely worth the wait since and good decision for skipping Apex 3. I only wish they add more support to their adaptive triggers in the flystation when used for PC Gaming. Or atleast teach us how to make a configuration for a game that is not listed
@Vk is it possible to put the v3 triggers on the v4 with some customization
Nice review! Does the clear plastic made with anti-yellowing material as well?
I hope they make a controller clip that supports phone cooler.
And i think i saw several delays on the adaptive trigger. Hope they fix it soon!
I'm worried about it becoming yellow over time as well
@@VKsChannel yeah, i mean recently there's a lot of anti-yellowing clear materials in phone cases, hope they actually use that!
When I'm in dual sense mode, the gyro is suddenly way less accurate and feels like the movements are not 1:1 anymore. Have you experienced this?
That was a good in depth look. Thanks.
Can you use this controller with Xbox with a usb adapter?
The controller is damn GOOD ... that stick is 10/10
i have 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth and gamesir t4 kaleid but this 1 just tooo damn cool
j'ai aussi une Gamesir T4 Kalei et la apex 4 et bien meilleures meme si elle se ressemble sur pas mal de points
Vader 3 pro or Aped 4? First time i will try a pc controller.
perfect review as always! but you miss only one thing xD polling rate with bluetooth. i heard it's one of the fastest
There's no reason for measuring with bluetooth, it will always be slower than wired or with dongle
I would love to know the model of the dpad switches
