    Great explanation and theory and math. But at the end of the day you didn't measure the slump of your concrete with all the agregate falling from the top when removing the cone. maybe the proportions of the mix have to be reconsidered.

    why slump test

  • @williamenser
    @williamenser 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are you following the ASTM international standard? First off that concrete course aggregate looks over 2 inches. If that’s the case, you need to put it through a two inch sieve. Next, it looked like you didn’t tamp 25 times even though you said you should. Also when the third layer goes under the top of the slump cone you should stop tamping, fill it to the top again, and then continue counting where you left off, then you lifted the cone way too fast. You should finish lifting between 3 and 7 seconds. But what really shows that this wasn’t done right was that the slump sheared showing that the test was invalid. Don’t teach people how to do things wrong please. Especially when it comes to something as important as concrete.

    • @sangwanyi4469
      @sangwanyi4469 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      (1) try to keep the height of each layer of concrete while filling to the pre-fixed marks(circular lines) corresponding to each volume of concrete inside the cone. (2) try to keep the pre-fixed quantity and numbers of scooping during each layer's filling to meet the three equal volumetric layers. The key point is not in length(height) but volumetric three layers(three equal volumetric layers).

    • @sangwanyi4469
      @sangwanyi4469 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      According to ASTM C 143, 1/3 of the volume of the slump mold is the height of 70 mm from the bottom and 2/3 is 160 mm.

    If we find any grade of concrete to use this mass 20 kg?
    Like M20 grade -1:1.5:3
    Then,
    1+1.5+3= 5.5
    Mass of cement =(1/5.5) × 20. this is right .

    Sir what is the nature of slump

    • @chiranjeevirahulrollakanti7429
      @chiranjeevirahulrollakanti7429  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Measurement of workability from Slump Test
      If shear slump or collapse slump occurs, the test should be repeated.
      We can get the result from the only true slump.
      We can classify the result within some ranges according to the slump value.
      Very low workability: slump value 0-25mm
      Low workability: slump value 25-50mm
      Medium workability: slump value 50-100mm
      High workability: slump value 100-175mm

      Dear, mass of water is calculated. You may find it around 7m:44sec. If you are asking about why didn't we consider mass of water calculating 1+2+4.. I am sorry i couldn't understand your question clearly. kindly let me know, what exactly you would like to know!

    How to take mass of water

    • @chiranjeevirahulrollakanti7429
      @chiranjeevirahulrollakanti7429  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on your Design Mix and Water Cement Ratio you have decided. such as 0.4; 0.5; ..... 0.85 something like this. Once you decide on water cement ratio you can calcuate the percentage from mass of the cement. For example, mass of cement = 1 kg and water cement ratio is 0.5, then mass of water shall be 0.5kg (0.5% of mass of cement).
      Hope this is clear. Thank you

      @chiranjeevirahulrollakanti7429  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dear , it is water cement ratio. we considered water cement ratio as 0.5, the weight of water to weight of cement is considered (amount of water = 50% of the weight of cement)

      Hi dear Yakhub, sorry i did not understand your question exactly! but 1440 kg/cu.m is the UNIT WEIGHT of cement. I have considered the unit weight of concrete as 2400 kg/cu.m for the purpose of this calculation only.

    • @chiranjeevirahulrollakanti7429
      @chiranjeevirahulrollakanti7429  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      HI Iqbal, are you talking about total weight/mass of the concrete required to do this experiment.
      Volume of cone : 0.005495 cu.m
      density of concrete: 2400 kg/m3
      so, from these I calculated mass of concrete : 2400 kg/m3 x 0.005495m3 = 13.188 kg
      considered wastage of concrete as 50%, though it is high, as we are mixing in concrete machine and considering the ease to conduct the experiment, i took wastage a bit high. Generally if it is hand mix, can take around 10-20% maximum.
      hence, 50% of 13.188 kg = 6.59 kg
      so, 13.188 + 6.59 = 19.78 kg which is rounded to 20 kg.
      kindly, please let me know what is your doubt exactly and i you find any mistake, please share it here. I am always ready to learn from mistakes. Thank you.
