      I've bought a 100mm one for my golf 5 1.9tdi pd.
      Car's on 106000 miles now.
I'm starting to hear a rattle sound from the bottom of the engine. Funny enough near the footwell where the oil pump is.
I didn't know that the turbo might blow because of the lack of oil pressure!??
Shoot better get the job done hadn't I!! :/

Thanks, Great video perfect for amateur mechanics like myself!....One thing I found is that access to the 2 hidden sump bolts at the gearbox were not as easy to get as in in your video. They were also very tight and not moving with the 5mm allen key. I have discovered that there are 2 dimpled areas in the flywheel and by cranking the engine (clockwise only) at the crankcase bolt, you can line one of these up with the access channel to the 2 bolts. This will allow access with a 10mm swivel socket to remove these bolts. Hopefully this will save someone a lot of pain if they ring the 5mm ball end allen of the bolt like I did!

I’ve replaced 6 shafts now and replaced the pump and shaft together on one car.. my own was done at 130,000 mile and I’m currently on 165,000.. another one was done at 135,000 and I know it’s currenty at around 200,000 area with no issues so personally I’d just replace the shaft if it’s only just started to take the edges , if it’s fully rounded I’d fit a new pump & shaft 👍

The content , information and clear filming are excellent in your video.. However, the 'background' music you have chosen, added at a similar volume to your voice-over, is really distracting and most of the time I am struggling to actually hear your important commentary..It seems such a shame when your overall video, filmed so well and containing such useful and clear instructions is lost , due to adding music.. If you increased the volume of your voice and did not have any music at all, then your video would be absolutely amazing in its entirety, in my opinion, and you would be getting far more 'likes' via You Tube viewers.. Hope you find my comments useful. They are meant with my best intention of wanting to be helpful, so that you can increase your audience, subscribers and overall 'likes' Kind regards..

    Hi there mate great Vid.

I own a A4 2.0 tdi SE BRD WITH 70.000 miles and last week replaced the 77mm hex key with 100mm key and replaced Balance Shift number 2 with a upgraded shaft before any failures happen.
But I'm now getting red oil pressure Warning light, The engine sounds fine and upon opening oil filler cap oil is being spat out indicating oil circulation .i will test oil pressure once the kit arrives
Would you have any ideas what i could of done wrong? before this i did not have any warning lights.

    • @diydaly
      @diydaly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hi mate , like you say first thing is to check the actual oil pressure.. there fairly strait forward . Aslong as the shaft is in it should be pumping .. did you change the pump too? Have you checked the wiring to the pressure sensor? Is it saying oil pressure on the display? Just wondering if you’ve disturbed the level sensor in the sump and the fault is relating to that..? That will put the red oil light on .. if it’s a pressure fault they usually say “oil pressure” on the dash

We replaced the oil level sensor in the sump with a new hella unit because we had a yellow oil level sensor warning on the display

We took the car for a run with the pressure gauge visible through the windscreen and even on a hard pull the pressure never dropped, yay
After some head scratching we tried a new Oil pressure sensor on the oil housing and bingo! no more oil pressure warning in the dash display
Were guessing it just must be bad luck the sensor packed up at the same time

Hi! Sorry to hear you have the dreaded shaft issue! It just depends when you get it stripped , they don’t normally wear the balance shafts but you will have to see how bad it is , it’s it’s fairly well worn id advise replacing the pump aswell as the shaft.. as yours is a different engine code it may be more involved to strip.. I’ve had some variations which meant having to remove the front end / timing belt to get the lower pulley etc out of the way to access a certain bolt.. rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fitm%2FReplacement-Oil-Pump-for-Audi-A4-A6-2-0-TDI-Engine-codes-BNA-BMA-BPW-BMP-BHW%2F333077531136%3Fepid%3D535834877%26_trkparms%3Dispr%253D1%26hash%3Ditem4d8cf7ca00%3Ag%3A9S0AAOSwlLdcaEmE%26amdata%3Denc%253AAQAFAAACYBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%25252Fn%25252BzU5L90Z278x5ickkCrLl8erj3ATP5raQxjc%25252F%25252B84XZu0MldxKJEjsRiFn10ma6OrGYXzwevSoHXQRboX0KN9Z%25252FoXehvnH2cFLeLW%25252FOGs9jhj9FCkP%25252BFfxTEqIZ8KKfurkZIWIOSHutHXYMOWJ9DDCSLkWWjixkNq64p1dTf5zz1xA3m4YrqPlxd0m3S%25252BSuIeDJGW4KOPNYS%25252BAETvE6%25252FPEiAFvoZvJUQsYQavZQQTgwNkqBUrnYzfRD7HMIFXpg9Mi9kJzTNoHth2eDEx1pSQuClyHoQ7NuntJoNg5q7Yih6YA1wTSGRlzM2D9vMj77cG6Ln3otpP%25252FdxqMgxzdy1%25252B3vVkr817leH6iStvR15bPy12W9RvJxOj824X1eA6osLHc5sC7q591XIEuXtHrcULayj8eVPfHyWU5FJnqrADIF7tDLN9QSMC92NXRMQ9gMMy%25252FL7mU7D78G5enou0l6rTsOpy3FBT%25252F5pYBa13uTrGeMGpTWRFksl9fmxPLWo92vjeiog9RvToyPVqfmXscV%25252Bf8yExJG9gaCuO7CZyz8iaGoNuDNkVBFdJpFd14PxYGRsE1VOm%25252B8rg5aYaAA9glwKGYcIpOC6P6FFzAi5h2scI%25252BMedgLnTufZFalXGuLystjHPxcHtBEhlKy9VQnz6sj3QUUw8MeDtU9emD8UOCVXDsf1MrkKowgpQd53VVPPA7wb3MsBvBOuMSTHgelCvgqBZ%25252BzdHWCgTGaNsA%25252FvATRgorC6FHTib0wiVmpnlvfRwvtcr7ZDyirMEm3xtzZuSA%257Ccksum%253A33307753113608a994d3a2604341ac986c381b87d269%257Campid%253APL_CLK%257Cclp%253A2334524&campid=5338704655&toolid=10001&customid=Oil drive pump

I have a 2012 Passat TDI that has a rattle on startup, it sounds like a timing chain rattle as the noise is in the bottom of the engine but there is no timing chain(according to VW dealers going by my VIN number it’s gear not chain). @@mbrylewski sorry mate I got mixed up , we was double checking that one as we didn’t know if it had been done , it was only very slight , if you know you have the 100mm shaft you shouldn’t really need to worry .. it will still wear but is a lot tougher than the original 72s .. even the original ones often make it to the 130,000 area so not bad really but it’s sumet everyone needs to be aware of
