    My personal observation.
USA mindset: "Yo Imma kick your ass, this is my court, bitch."
Europe mindset: "I better work on my jumpshot before coach sees me."

Even though....There are 3 non us developed players in the mvp conversation, two of them are african. And the rest of all of the superstars in the league including the future favorites for face of the league are all American born , let's be real, black men. Joel embiid and giannis have both played in America more than any other place. Dirk Pau jokic most European stars have the exact same skill set that people don't take seriously until they sneak up and have great Stat lines before someone has to pull them back to the pack.

@@moresomoze Giannis grew up and learned to play Basketball in Greece, his parents are from Nigeria. Also Luka and Nicola are No 1 and 2 in MVP convo and are both european. You are ether purposefully lying or delusional. Also things are just getting started, Wembanyama is only the beginning. Dark times are ahead for US-Basketball, and we softies over her are loving it

AAU player development is spiraling down, too many games, hurting the kids more than developing them. Parents paying for highlight mixtapes and all this crap and then in college the prospects get spoiled by too much money.

In Europe soccer and basketball the players often go early to the big clubs. Like Luka Doncic who played at Real Madrid from he was 16 years old. He played grown men and really got challenges.
In USA the draft is importent and players go to those teams to late. Also never learned the European way to play as a team:) Rhinen Michelle had a setup tactic where all teams at all levels played the same way, and when the got to the grow team they knew the systen for 5-7 years allready. They can go in earlier and become better ❤

You are the first American i heard speaking about the competitiveness of having shorter seasons. Performing at your absolute highest level throughout a season when every game and play matters including more days with practice will certainty develop the better player. When US youth kids go up against 5'7 guards before entering a regular season in the NBA filled with load management and lackluster defense, beyond that players barely practice between games it's not a recipe for the best development.

You hit the nail on the head many times here but IMO popularity is the big one. For as long as I can remember nobody in basically any European country gave a crap about Basketball. You played football, and if it wasn't that it was something else. The sport is slowly getting more popular across the continent meaning more people are taking an interest and there are slowly becoming more ways to get involved and actually start playing. The massive strangehold America had on the NBA was due to complete lack of popularity and interest from the rest of the world.

I’d say it’s a misnomer to simply say the emphasis in the US is simply on athletic skills or natural athletic abilities. Yes we all see who can run the fastest and jump the highest and those are athletic abilities but we don’t yet have a term for the athletic abilities that require intelligence and the ability to work within a team system. These are indeed athletic abilities.

The increasingly pay-to-play business model of the AAU also means that most of the American kids getting drafted into today’s NBA grew up comfortably. No more LeBron James or Kevin Durant stories, people who grew up in poverty.
Constricting the talent pool only to the upper-middle class and over is harmful and does not allow us to get the best possible players.

I love that people are saying American players are lazy or just want money but they’re is an easy reason for why international players are taking over, the game is actually liked internationally. If you look at the mlb for example, at least half of the top players in the league are international and that just happens when you expand past our borders. Instead of a pool of 3-400 million people you have a pool of billions who want to play just as much as we Americans do
