I will always look at jr as a what if. Not because he didn’t have a good career. But with his skill set man could have been an all time great. I think he was more athletic than Kobe and had the shooting of arenas. MANNNN he could have been in the top 10 of all time shooting guards

Big facts some may scoff at this notion but those of us who saw Jr particularly in his younger days know physically he had all the tools great leaper fluid, shifty and quick with the ball tremendous shooting mechanics solid ball handler although he could have worked on dribbling with his left hand a bit more it's just that he didn't have it where it matters most and that's upstairs and their are guys who often come a long in the league like that over the years guys who are just as gifted physically or from a skillset perspective as the stars and super stars of the league but are missing a few things mentally to take them into that star realm all that said jr still had a good career all thinfs considered but part of me wonders what would have happend had his father not gotten ill and he was able to actually attend college where presumably his game and mindset would mature

They were being guarded by Bruce Bowen and Manu Ginobili. J.R. didn't even play in Game 5. I think this one was more on the coach than the players. Also, Carmelo may have shot well, but he took the second most shots on the team and only had 6 assists in 5 games. He also got outplayed by Michael Finley who dropped 26 on him in Game 5 on 8 of 9 from three.

You literally named like 10 players from four different decades, ten players. There's very few all time great players and every era has a few of them. Jr Smith played most of his career against a defensive NBA, so you need to give him that. It's not like he's played his entire career post-2016 when Adam Silver's NBA started refereeing the game in a way that handcuffs defense. And JR was above average, he may not have been an all star but he was definitely above average when he was cooking

@@youtuber3328 Yeah I agree, but there are players from every era who can hang in any era. Even guys like Giannis today, but I don't evaluate players in the post 2015 era like I do the players before that, since the game changed drastically after 2015 due to Adam Silvers league changing the way the game is played, obviously it's hard to give a player today the same props since the game is so soft.
But Jr Smith did play against real defense in the 2000's and he was able to cook guys when he was hot, very streaky shooter though ofc.
Still though if we're talking eras, if we put every player ever to play in their prime into a talent pool to get drafted into a defensive league, guys like Bron, Giannis, Kawhi (When he actually played full seasons) would still be beasts

I like this channel otherwise, but I'm getting increasingly tired of the endless excuses for some of the most vile, screwed-up, dysfunctional, and criminal players to ever be in the NBA. And you've truly reached the apotheosis of it here with JR Smith.
Smith drove drunk or high for years until finally murdering his 21 year-old friend, for which he only received the lightest slap on the wrist imaginable. Yet, you spin this into a SYMPATHETIC event for him!?
"It's hard to not feel bad for all parties involved!"
I understand separating sportsball play from the degeneracy of these guys off the court, but condoning and sympathizing with a murderer is repugnant.
