Yeah it could have worked out if he had a better attitude about it. Maybe if the Hayward injury didn't happen and so on but it was just a perfect storm of s***. Because the Hayward and Irving injury and year one showed that the young guys could leave the team to the game 7 of the Eastern conference finals. Without Irving even on the team. And I think that made him resentful of the young guys and he started bitching about them constantly in year two. Then the antagonistic Boston media was on his case about his promise to resign which was another mistake he made.
It's just such a shame because you such a talented player and it could have been an amazing squad. Hayward horford and Kyrie with Tatum and Brown as a young up-and-comers could have been a legendary combination.

  • @canadasown02

    It’s pretty simple lol.
He forced himself out of Cleveland. He was expected to be the “guy” on a championship team in Boston. Became the third best player on a team of 20 year olds. Then forced himself out because he wasn’t the number one anymore, stomped on their logo and dragged Boston on his way out, and has done nothing but be problematic (or as the media likes to put it “polarizing”) since he left

Kyrie also killed IT's career IT really loved Boston in contrast to Kyrie. Kyrie wanted to lead the team by his own after Lebron became the spot light for the Cavs their other first overall pick in 2003 draft. The Celtics thought that Kyrie and Hayward would bring them a championship. He also lied about resigning with the team again which lead him to join on the Nets with Durant and Harden being back as a 3rd option instead of being a leader. With the Mavs again he became a sidekick to Luka which everyone talks mostly about him and this is why Boston truly hates Kyrie.

Simple fact is that Kyrie crumpled under the weight of expectations, then promptly ran away. I don't blame the chemistry issues all on him (I think a lot of it was JB and Terry Rozier to be honest). However, I do blame him for how he reacted to those issues. Instead of becoming a leader, he became a pouter and then a quitter and now he acts like there's zero reason for fans to be upset with him. That's why Kyrie is so hated in Boston. Honestly, I feel like that'd get you hated by any fanbase and it's just the New England fans are more vocal about this dislikes.

He wanted to lead his own team and when that didn’t workout what’d he do? He ran away. He went to join KD and harden and form a superteam in Brooklyn and win a ring and shove it down the knicks and their fans throats and when that failed he ran away from that too. (At least in a leadership aspect), maybe I’m being too optimistic, nevertheless I still think he’s an amazing/generational talent. He was young and brash, things happen. Stuff like stepping on a logo really hurt him here in the Bean. You can’t do stuff like that in Boston, if you do you’re literally asking for trouble. “Like don’t walk on the streets by yourself” trouble😂. While a small piece in the overall puzzle, he also suggested that the Earth might be flat in 2018. In a city as motivated by intellectualism as Boston, his anti-intellectualism was almost an insult. Consider that one of the first two COVID vaccines (which Irving refuses to take) was created less than 2 miles from the Boston Garden.

the Celtics did to him what thye did to Durant back them...
you pick the lesser of two evils and defend him hard, you cut 50% of the team's capacity, because they rely too much on two guys.
now Luka was allowed to have 30+ points, but Kyrie was defended by 19k+ in the TD Garden games

you guys made it to the conference finals literally the year after he left and have been there pretty much every single year since. its been five years i cant believe your entire fanbase is still so butthurt about it.
Meanwhile he arguably imploded the entire Nets franchise and doomed the entire organization to mediocrity for an entire decade just a year ago. And Nets fans already give less of a shit then yall and have moved on to settling for Mikal Bridges 10th seeds every year.
Have yall ever stopped to think that even if Kyrie has spent time antagonizing you that maybe there’s a reason literally nobody else likes Boston fans lmao
