I'm glad Kevin mentioned GUT LOADING your feeders...
Here in the UK, our nationwide #1 pet branch (PetsAtHome) never feeds their grasshoppers. I asked them and they told me _"Why would we need to feed them?"_
Because the hoppers I would get for my crested gecko & bearded dragon, were in terrible condition. They would be soft & squishy, not crunchy, they would be slow & sluggish to move, they'd ooze this brown puss when bitten, they'd lose their colour, going light banana yellow instead of vibrant & eventually brown, many would die in the box, turn brown & rot.
I once witnessed what looked like the grasshopper biting my gecko!
Many would never leave their hiding spot under the egg carton in order to get the food I'd put in, it was just a complete horror show.

Great video! I love tokays, and keep them myself. Working with them is challenging but socializing them and getting them to the point where they're thinking and friendly is a fantastic thing. They really are tremendous animals. Two of mine are cbb and all the others are rescues and intakes from people who no longer wanted tokays; seeing the difference between cbb animals and imports/under-socialized animals is astonishing. thanks for all the tokay vids! if NERD ever breeds and sells tokays, it would be a dream to have a baby from your beautiful socialized animals!

Awesome video on the Tokay’s setup, and care. I’ve been wanting a Tokay for a while now, and did tons of research before I bought one. Well a couple days ago at a show, I finally got one (wild caught) and I think I might have got lucky with this one!!! It’s defensive, like 99% of them, but it seems calmer than most I’ve seen. I got it out today, and of coarse you get the mouth open, barking, I’m a little tough guy, don’t touch me, or I’ll rip your finger off attitude, but using your hand near it, slow movements approach I caught it very gently, held it gently (not a death grip) talked to it in a soft, calm voice (don’t know if that helped, but figured it can’t hurt🤣) and pet it’s head with my thumb. It closed its mouth, sat there calm, so I slowly opened my hand(while still gently petting it’s head) and to my amazement, it sat there calm for about 10 minutes until I put it back in it’s enclosure!!! I know I still have a long way to go before it becomes trustworthy of me, but I feel pretty confident that we’re on the right path!!! Sorry for the long winded comment, but thought I’d let you know how much your videos, and knowledge help us in the reptile community. You, and Clint’s Reptiles have the best channels out there, and I also like your collaborations together.

Fun fact, the natural instinct for people when thinking or remembering is to look up. In criminal interrogations, when asking suspects questions the investigators will note if they look up in recalling events as a suggestion indicating truthfulness or lying because of the subconscious tendencies to look up went recalling information.

When I was a teenager I went with a buddy of mine when he picked up his Tokay and he bought the biggest one they had at the pet store. It was huge probably 12' not even exaggerating. We got back to his house and put it in a 20 long tank with a screen top on it and we had to run back to the shop to pick up some supplies that he had forgotten to pick up. When we returned back to his place his older brother was standing at the kitchen sink washing his bloody hands and then he told us that he was checking the Tokay out while it was stuck to the side of its tank and for some reason he decided to stick his hand in the tank and wiggle his fingers. He said that it jumped from one end of the tank all the way across and latched onto his middle finger and wouldn't let go so he started waving his hand and it finally let go and wound up jumping from his hand to the wall and ran down the wall and hid behind my buddies bed. The bite was pretty bad and it actually bit right through his fingernail. We just laughed at him and told him that it was his fault for sticking his hand in the tank in the first place. That Tokay was a monster probably the biggest one that I've ever seen definitely not a lizard to take lightly.

Like a pixie Frogs their eyes sink in...Don't move if bitten. Like getting bit by an Alligator. You move, your skin is shredded, don't panic they sense fear. They don't want hurt you. They just want you to back off.
Keep still, put the Gecko on all fours. Play a video game, thumb text someone and act like it doesn't hurt. Watch a KIZZ video and Meditation is the best. Gecko will let go. Seek First aid. Then get treats and put it back in the cage.
That just me....I will find it later and let it calm down. It's not the Geckos fault. He scared. Your a giant...
