Simply brilliant! …Now to experiment, over complicate then go bank to original 🤦🏻♂️ I take it that with a 2 foot space and a 2 foot snood by the time knots are done the snood is less than 2 foot so will not catch lower/higher snood. Is it best not to over load snoods with too much bling as weight will upset balance?? Thankyou

Hi David. I usually just lay the snood out behind me on the beach, then it's just a case of remembering you're just casting the lead, so almost ignore the snood! It's one of those situations where once you've done it a couple of times you'll realise how easy it is!
Due to the length, I am surprised someone has not stolen something from the carp world and come up with some type of PVA material to hold the long snood.
Hi Tom Great explanatory video. Are there certain tide conditions required to fish such a rig. I would like to try them out but I'm guessing you need calm conditions and not big surf conditions on the beach to fish them. Any info you could give on when to and when not to fish these types of rigs would be helpful and also maybe if you change overall length of the rig and diameter of the line in heavier surf. Sorry for late reply mate. been on a bit of a hiatus from social media! Back now! You are absolutely correct, this rig is definitely better in calmer conditions. Tides don't matter too much, strong tides will keep everything stretched out and away from the lead, but a little feathering on the cast and a tweak here and there when it's in the water will keep them tangle free too. They're extensively used in the med where there's no tide movement. You are correct again (go to the top of the class!) with regards to the line, the thicker the line the less it'll tangle. I often use 0.40 when fishing for sole and bass and the likes, this tangle a lot less (pretty much not at all) then fishing really light lines like 0.20 or 0.25 in the summer. Just remember the shorter you go and the heavier the line the less natural movement you'll get.

I do prefer the 2 way beads now over various methods I've tried. I tend to use an urfe when fishing calm conditions and when fishing is tough. They are great for certain species too, like bass, mullet, flatfish, bream etc.
You can use it with either, depending on the situation. If I'm targetting flatties etc, then I like a plain lead, so I can twitch and move the bait about. Bigger target fish or stronger tides may necessitate the use of a grip lead. Having said all that, I reckon 90% of the time I'm using a plain lead when fishing an urfe rig.
Could you just use a small link clip to attach to the urfe rig swival? i just thinking of having different rigs to attach to try different lengths of trace etc
Not during casting, no. Or at least no more than any other rig can, because tangles happen. However, I'd avoid using this rig in any kind of rough weather.

Hi Rodney. If using a short urfe rig like that I'd personally stick with just the one dropper, so two hooks in total. You can use a two foot dropper for this. If you did want to use three hooks then reduce the droppers to one foot long. Don't go too light on the line either. Probably 0.40 main with 0.35 droppers.
should have used red line, would have seen it better, not sure how i would cast that out, even with the 15 foot backcaster, that rig seems much like the ones we were making 40 years ago for on the boat, just a french boom and 2 or 3 hooks coming off the one snood, of course it wasnt 12 foot long and we never used any plastic
You're right, coloured line would have been much better! D'oh! Remember the snood trails the lead, so you can cast these on a 6 foot rod if you wanted to! 3 belows are very common practice on the boats for sure and have been for a long time as you say.
Love the simplicity of your erfe build. Different to the way I was taught but, as you quite rightly say, try this and adapt!
There's so many different ways, it's good to try as many as you can and see which one works for you.

Liked your vid. Bit confused. How are you meant to cast a 12ft trace with 2ft droppers. With out getting tangles on your trace.

It's much easier than you think. Just lay the rig out behind you and do a simple over head cast.

Tangles less mate. Since I've been using 2 way beads and longer droppers I've had far less tangles.

Not something I'd recommend no. The more components like swivels you use the more it'll tangle.
