thanks for these John, my fishing guru "dad" isn't up to remembering how to do these, so this nails it for me.

Don't get out fishing as much as I used to but still enjoy making up various fishing rigs. I figure the grandkids will use em some day.

Great video, so helpful to an old chap like me who is just getting back into fishing after 25 years. So much has changed since I last cast out and this video was concise, informative, easy to follow and an inspiration! Thank you so much for taking the time to post.

Thanks so much for this video John, I've never used the Wessex rig before, but I'm going to make up half a dozen of them tomorrow for the rig wallet and also a few hook lengths. Your instructional videos are so helpful.

A great rig, can be deadly for that big bass close in . 6/0 -3/0 pennel on the running ledger with big squid bait .

Great video, got to say though he's right about finding rubbish at the mark, I spent longer the other day cleaning up rubbish than fishing

Nice vid John and very informative. However, (and i may have missed this somewhere along the line - pun intended) could you please give some thought to preparing a video to explain the differences in the types of hooks you use, ie chinu specimens and aberdeens, circle hooks or whatever. I kinda get it all when you mention them but never sure I'm taking it all and understanding the reasons why each is better in each circumstance. It'd really cool to see them all laid out on the workshop bench and to see/hear you go through them all to explain where and why you'd use them. Something to keep you busy in 'lockdown'?

      - Thanks for the feedback Chris but that video would be never ending. Instead I explain each type of hook as I use it - and give the reasons why. That way its more relevant to the situation.

Brilliant. About to order all the kit and use this time to learn, practice and build these rigs so I'm ready to fish as soon as lockdown is over. Are you sponsored by any brands/shops that I can support? I've heard you mention Cox and Rawle in other videos so will order some. Also, what size hooks were the ones you used in this video?

      - We aren't sponsored or affiliated with anyone, we simply share what we use and respect/have faith in.

I will definately be trying this. Did you get around to making a video of the Fg knot mate and the easiest way to tie.

Great video John, very helpful. Quick question about the bead/barrel swivel combo for the top hook. Could you use a 3 way barrel swivel instead or does it risk tangling more? Thanks.

  • @leonpellow6250
    @leonpellow6250 3 ปีที่แล้ว

John on the one up part could you use a small snap swivel instead of a barrel so you can have interchangeable hook lengths? 🎣

Thanks! Do you use size 4 or 4/0? 4 seem like tiny hooks but then I guess your only using small baits?

You've sorted your beads into different colours? You should talk to someone about your ocd!😂 Great vid mate.

How difficult is it to cast that rig
    Do you use a splashdown

Hi John do you recommend the rig body to be about 2ft long?

Could you please add diagrams of the leader rig it's hard to see it on camera
