O' Boy ain't this just captured Rory in concert. This is what it was like. His music was raw, passionate delicate and poetic while at the same time he boomed out thunderous progressive riffs. Rory was all that and more. I was so lucky to see him perform, a year before this gig, and to meet him after and to be asked out for a drink, was quite something. Even remember speaking with Rory and Donal his brother, at the venue, where Donal told me and my companion that he used to crawl on his hands and knees through the audience cutting bootleg recording equipment evidently this one got away.
Was here with my rowdy friends. Now we are 63ish and heading to the Rory fest in Ireland. People do your life a favor and grab on to what truly drives you. Rory did that for myself and my friends. And the Irish are the best

Did the 2023 Rory Fest with 5 brothers, myself, and oldest son. From the USA. Special place that left many memories. The music and atmosphere are over the top; that part is mostly free!

I also was there great place to see shows. Muddy Waters Rory John Lee Hooker and many many more. Good Times back then!
Only time I saw Rory was on this (Jinx) tour @ Park West in Chicago. Long and glorious concert!
I was there too when his bus pulled up in front....remember the front of the bus said (JINX) and they load cases of booze in the cargo hold......LOL
A true gentleman, eloquent both verbally & musically; modest; man of the people; no "star" antics or pretensions. I saw him only once 1972 Xmas-New Year concert , Dublin National Stadium. A terrible, unnecessary loss to Ireland and far beyond. World's greatest guitarist , ever, with a true, rich singing voice. R.I.P. Rory.

Wow, what a great raw recording almost 40 years ago. Rory at his finest. The whole band played great that evening. It was nice hearing the few fans up front next to the recorder, at 63 years young wish it would have been me. Thanks so much for uploading this. A true treasure from the past!

Do I get to say I was there? Saw Rory many times in SF & the Bay Area. The Old Waldorf was small & you felt close no matter where you were. Lots of energy in that place...
Do you remember what amps he was using? Two Marshall or a Marshall and the old AC30? Thanks!
@@snake1612 I am pretty sure he had the AC-30, not sure on the Marshall (probably tho') but he did have two 2x12 combo amps as I recall.

This audience recording gives off the ambience of a live show. That’s sorely lacking in many SBDs.

OMG this is great !!! Saw Rory many times but this is wonderful- it would be amazing if there was better sound recording of the band at this time.
Wow! Quite good quality for 1982 and probably someone recording in the audience. I wish the music concert time machine would exist. ;)

This is one of the best recordings of the 82 tour yet to surface, not the best but close, shame the recorder didn't get a mention in the comments from RG rarities and its now been reduced to a lossy format, my copy is much sharper than this, without all the hiss :)

I'm guessing the recorder ran out of tape, resulting in the unceremonious cut to end the show. After over two hours and Rory still had the pedal to the metal! So, everyone on three ... 1 ... 2 ... 3, WALK ON HOT COOOAALS!

Big thanks RGR! An unbelievably good recording from the audience...great volume and sound! A few glitches, but nothing horrendous. I like the commentary from those in attendance nearby the recorder. Though Rory didn't give them WOHC, they seemed to be well satisfied and it's easy to hear why. What in the world did Rory have for breakfast that day! Astounding performance top to bottom...so live, I can feel the electricity! Rory! Rory! Rory...

Agreed. On the guest, yeah I heard him introduce Cooke early in the show, at 2:09:00 he introduces a someone on guitar at the beginning of Tore Down and I can't make it out...definitely two guitars at play on track 20!
He seems to introduce 2 people there? I know Ron Thompson opened but it sounds like he says Ian ___ & Tony ___ I really can't make it out either, I had totally forgotten about the ending jam, Rory must have done at least one or two more songs if he brought them out.
Thanks, that's more than I could discern. Too bad we don't Know who it is, the duo was outstanding. that's the second live recording I've heard where Rory had a guest he introduced and it was unclear on the tape. The first was on the recording Taste Stratosphere, live Gloria with a guest female vocalist. Would you happen to know who that is?
Wow, I'd love to hear that one never heard Taste doing Gloria with Rory before.

He had a keyboard for 1982 only including two sax players in Europe tour Earl 1982. Mark Feltham joined on harmonica in the late 80s and Rory had him on keyboards at times.
