Hey guys. Loved the show. As a Braves fan here are my thoughts. I'm good with the Kepler sign. Feels like LF has been a black hole for us forever. I love the Minter and Loaisiga calls, agree Minter should be a Brave forever. I really like the Hoerner trade, even though Ritchie is probably my favorite pitcher on the farm. Would be tough to give him up but I know sometimes you gotta do these kind of trades and we as fans tend to overrate our prospects. But I love what Nico would bring to the team overall. The only thing that gave me pause was Gibson. He may do okay, but I think the Braves go for someone like Eovaldi. And he pitched exactly 1 inning more than Gibson so he fits the innings eater but also has more upside.
We are on the same page here. I think Ritchie could shoot through the system like Schwelly so I want him to stay. Nico and Eovaldi have been two guys I've been clamoring for them to get since before their season ended.
I love the moves you made for the Braves. However with Kepler signing with Philadelphia I would like to redo it. One important note before I start is that Anthropolous said he is not afraid of going over the luxury tax threshold. I agree 100% with the RP moves and as much as I hate to say it, the Braves will sign Kyle Gibson or Charlie Morton (although I'd like to throw out Nick Pivetta, Patrick Corbin, and Lance Lynn as options as well- not the best but thats what we do). For outfield, I see Mark Cahna, Alex Verdugo, or Dylan Carlson as starting (or carlson platoon) options. At shortstop, while Atlanta does not sign big free agents, they do make big trades. I wouldn't be suprised if they got Carlos Correa and even Trevor Larnach while they're at it, but I don't think they will. They'll either stick with Arcia or grab Dejong/Iglesias for shortstop. So for my final moves, I'm going with: SP- Kyle Gibson RP- AJ Minter SS- Paul Dejong OF- Mark Cahna But don't be suprised if they make a random trade for a big name SS/OF/SP or for Trevor Story.
Been a fan for 3 years! Normally a podcast listener because i have an hour commute, but man guys the quality of the TH-cam show is improved so much since the last time I watched! You guys are a daily part of my routine! Love you guys!
Braves fan....no to trevor story but I'd love to explore a trade for hoerner. I don't love Kepler and I'm still kinda stuck on kelenic lmao but they need to do something
I've been calling for Atlanta to trade for Nico before the offseason even started. Could probably tack on 2 years to his current deal too. Not sure I wanna include Ritchie but I get why they would.
Montgomery deal I like if they do have to move them is straight up swap for Mitch Haniger…both players may end up being a zero but Dbacks could fill in Grichuk short platoon with Haniger and M’s always look for arms - not a perfect fit but if they’re hands are tied I don’t hate it
If AA gives up AJSS AND JR Ritchie just for Hoerner I will lose a lot of hope, which is super hard after all the amazing moves he has pulled off. That feels like an enormous overpay just for 2 years of Nico coming off surgery.
Dbacks fan here, my biggest critique is how ok you were with just letting Christian Walker leave because we have pavin smith 😳. By far without a doubt our single biggest priority this offseason needs to be resigning Walker. If we can't sign him there's no way you just run it back with pavin smith and then trade McCarthy and handover center to alek Thomas our offense will not even be in the same stratosphere as last year, I also would look to bring joc back but my dream would be sign Goldy as our DH and have him play 1st when Christian needs a break. I agree there's not much to change with the pitching staff, like you said bring in a couple veteran relievers but we have our leverage guys in place. Also another highlight you didn't mention is Adrian del Castillo he came up to catch when Moreno got Hurt and absolutely raked I see him being a big factor on our club next season
As a Dbacks fan absolutely not on Pavin Smith trade for Ryan Mountcastle from the O's. Sign Goldy to be back up/DH, Sign AJ Minter and Trade for Ryan Helsley.
Life-long Braves fan (38 yrs) here. I like the possibilities. I'm a Hoerner fan, hoping he can find a little more pop, but I wouldn't wanna give up A.J. & J.R. Unless Cubs eat @least half Nico's salary. Maybe Ian Anderson and J.R.? Not big on giving up AJ or Hurston unless it's a proven, bigger name of need. Kepler I'd be good with, but Kyle G? I get it, but I'd pass, personally. I think there are better options that will end up taking less than their agents are making them think that we can pick up later or possibly trade for. I do like the B.P. options, though. I have no idea what it would cost, but what do you guys think of trading for Noelvi Marte from the Reds, if he's even available?
braves have been tied to boyd forever. wouldn’t be shocked with that. agree with everything. been pushing nico since they took smith. only change would be an additional righty OF, but other than that it’s perfect.
Huge Braves fan. Know their system well. Love all the moves (mostly). On the pitching front, we need more than an innings eater. Sale could regress in more ways than one, Strider is coming off his second TJ, Lopez will regress, Schwelly at the 3-4 spot is fine until someone misses 10 starts. The Horner deal is a little overpay, but it’s needed. You could argue that we’re better off signing Conforto and sticking with Arcia… it would all depend on how Horner or Cinforto performed over the next two years.
@@rtwilli4 I'm going to say that's probably not going to happen, as Strider said the ligament was perfectly healthy, it wasn't even torn at all, and that there was loose bone fragments that were underneath rubbing and stretching it out which was causing irritation.
@@MassBoost So you are happy with a rotation of Sale, Strider, Lopez, Schweitzer, and the Gwinnett shuttle? That’s a lot of ifs… that’s all I’m saying.
@@rtwilli4 Schweitzer? lol You mean Schwellenbach. Seems every week I see a new spelling. But anyways, it just depends on what the budget is, and what's available to them at other positions. If they truly are trying to get under the luxury tax to reset the tax, I've suggested a couple times in the past looking at a third Spencer, Spencer Turnbull off the free agent market. Since 2020 Turnbull has produced a 3.84 ERA, 3.78 FIP, and 4.24 xFIP, has had a 50.9% ground ball rate during that time, 21.9% strikeout rate, 9.4% walk rate, and 1.22 WHIP, has a 6 pitch mix, he's projected at $4.4 to $5mil by 2 sources, after making only $2mil this past year, so he should be relatively cheap. I think if the Braves work with his pitch selection, he might be even better at striking out people, and he wasn't bad at that last year striking out batters at a 26.1% clip last year, he's like a cheaper version of Nathan Eovaldi. Otherwise they'd have to trade for a pitcher like Crochet or whoever, that's possibly both good and cheap in payroll. I'd probably get Turnbull if I thought I'd have a shot at getting a shortstop elsewhere via trade.
My Braves tip (as a Braves fan) at shortstop, is going to get JP Crawford off of the Mariners. Elite defender, hit badly, owed $25m which feels like perfect Anthopolous level
Guys, you need to hold your horses about this Shelb you you do not know if he’s gonna he only played part of the first year was bad. The second half was was OK but can you really bank a second year player coming back a lot of times second your players have down years Second of all Chris with his injury history. I doubt he pitches the full year. Lopez is going to big time you need more security in that rotation if not too need bullpen help yes we could upgrade shortstop, but we can get it in a tray. I have knowledge of a certain situation, there’s a shortstop that’s in another team that a lot of the issues last year with him being so bad was he didn’t want to be there and a lot this individual to say my sources would like to be with the Braves they want the teams high on his list and that bo bichette. But I believe this shit do whatever takes to get max free back to Atlanta then go ahead and arm, but I’m not looking just a regular arm. I’m looking for perimeter back. I say also go get a former Atlanta Braves draft pick reliever. I’m not talking about. I’m talk about i’m talking Lucas Sims then I’ll make a trade with Toronto not for Kevin Gausman but for Chris’s bassitt , along with Bo Bichette . And I would even consider a three team deal where you could trade Iglesias to Toronto along with nacho Alvarez and the athletics where toranot would get rooker , Iglesias and nacho Alvarez , David fletcher Athletics would get Hurston Waldrep RHP, , Owen Murphy, Dylan Dodd , Bryce elder , Enmanuel Bonilla, and Johnny King Braves end up with Chris Bass ,Bo Bichette , if will Wagner , Mason miller Then I call Detroit about trade Parker Meadows for Jarred Kelenic and play to be name later And I try bring back either biggio or merrifield and trade Arcia to team that’s looking for a short defensive shortstop, but they want to trade a tune type of outfitter Then have. solid pitching staff a better bop in the law because Miller is still a country for a couple years at reasonable price so there’s your closure for a couple years

I agree with these moves for the braves for sure, may just add one other upside pitching idea… Jordan Montgomery I feel would do well in Atlanta
i think he’s done man
Luka is the perfect nba comp for Soto. Generational offensive talent, can’t play defense, and has a colorful personality

No, Strider never had Tommy John this time around.

Pavin Smith IS THE NOT THE ANSWER AT 1B!! He is 300 ABs MAX player. Look at 2021!! He is MID
What says he's a 300 at bat player?
If it's alphabetical shouldn't the "Athletics" have been ahead of Atlanta?
I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if they'll do them next or wait till the S for Sacramento.
Doing it by city. So Arizona and Atlanta came first, then Baltimore and Boston, and so on
