The thing with Coxon is that he's not jaw droppingly amazing. He has a very, very specific set of skills, which he uses very, very well. And that's what makes him great.
And with working with duran duran, he's proven to be even more diverse. He cowrote the majority of the tracks on Future Past but none of them are heavily guitar oriented... The guy just knows how to write a pop song!
It’s the difference between technical ability and creativity. He isn’t the most technically gifted by any stretch but he came up with riffs, progressions and solos that no one else would ever have come up with. That’s what makes him great.
Coffee & TV is the definition of a killer riff. The little bend is flawless. And while everyone else was jamming Song 2, Beetlebum was the track I was amazed by. Well done.
graham coxon is such an underappreciated guitarist honestly. blur just got way to overshadowed by oasis' fame and the britpop movement. you played all of these unique riffs beautifully!
Noel G himself said that Graham was one of the best guitarists of his generation. Maybe he can't shred at 100 MPH but he creates guitar riffs that are so inventive not many could come up with them. Similar to Johnny Marr in that respect.
@João de Arruda Campos Cardoso listen to Modern Life Is Rubbish, their second album and for me, their best Also Parklife and Leisure are good listenings, but Modern Life is perfect and every song goes perfectly
Graham Coxon is such an underrated guitarist in my opinion, he writes such good riffs and he definitely needs more recognition. Great job dude, killer playing
So quintessentially British. Elegant and rocking. Graham just has a way with making the riffs seem like there’s 2 guitars. Little melodic notes between the chords to fill up the space and make everything interesting. Great tone.
I'm so glad to find someone making justice to Bang, a totally underrated guitar work by Graham Coxon. The intro is fantastic and also the verse parts. Combined with the baggy groove it's beyond me why Blur fans don't seem to enjoy this single
Great effort!! Beetlebum made me start singing at one point, that riff always gets me. Blur deserve more recognition, I personally love their music, but I love the development of it through the years even more, from britpop to their own sound.
One of my favourite guitarists of all time. Great choices all around, some other great genius moment by Graham imo are I Know, Chemical World, Oily Water, Villa Rosie, Stereotypes, Bugman and most of all, the chorus to the incredible He Thought of Cars.
Fun fact. Especially Liam Gallagher like to brag about Morning Glory selling many more copies than The great escape. Well Damon Albarn's work (Blur, Gorillaz and solo) has more listeners on Spotify than Liam Noel and Oasis combined now! And Morning Glory sold roughly 6 times more than the great escape but now the ratio is very roughly 2:1 on Spotify in Oasis favour (vs Blur only) and that's quite remarkable since Blur haven't really been fronting their music like Liam and Noel has . Great Video and great playing!
I remember watching Beetlebum on tv as a kid and being blown away by the video when the camera goes out of the window and flys around with Grahams guitars. Amazing.
Superb job mate! Really nailed the little details. Some giant riffs, Mr Coxon wrote. Btw, I just realized that Charmless Man must be a response to This Charming Man, and so, I can imagine how much Mr Coxon was inspired by the one, the only, Mr Marr
Lovely guitar playing. You've captured every nuance of these riffs. Great video/ audio recording and such a pleasure to see a master of rhythm guitar display his craft so well.
Chinese Bombs is one of my favorites. Also the beginning of Bang was Alex James’ bassline. Graham doesn’t start until the funky stuff up near the top of the neck.
Idk if it may be considered a riff as such, but I love the guitar in Clover Over Dover, I feel it's genius in the beauty of the melodies and the arrangements.
Happy birday graham coxon
Feliz pajaro JAJAAJJJ
Birday
I still think the outro riff for Beetlebum is one of the best ever
YES!
Same
possibly their most beloved riff
Alex's Baseline makes it I think ... 🙂
Би 2 - Феллине рифф себе забрали
graham coxon is one of the GOATs tbh, ingenious and really out-there with his guitar skills--and that's why he's one of my favorite guitarists lmao
The thing with Coxon is that he's not jaw droppingly amazing. He has a very, very specific set of skills, which he uses very, very well. And that's what makes him great.
he’s not, j mascis is the GOAT
Yeah, the way that coxon use the guitar to do his lines or licks it's amazing, very creative
And with working with duran duran, he's proven to be even more diverse. He cowrote the majority of the tracks on Future Past but none of them are heavily guitar oriented... The guy just knows how to write a pop song!

Well done.
Never liked song 2 much even before I got into blur. Beetlebum absolutely blew my mind however
graham coxon is such an underappreciated guitarist honestly. blur just got way to overshadowed by oasis' fame and the britpop movement.
you played all of these unique riffs beautifully!
No Gallagher could be at this guitar level
I used to know an Ines C irl at school lol
Both Blur and Suede are twice as good as Oasis in my opinion.
Noel G himself said that Graham was one of the best guitarists of his generation. Maybe he can't shred at 100 MPH but he creates guitar riffs that are so inventive not many could come up with them. Similar to Johnny Marr in that respect.
@@ronaldcox3369Agree 100%
Graham Coxon, one of the most characteristic and originals guitarists ever.
Its kinda sad that most people think of blur as the "WOOOOOO HOOOOOOO" guys
They're also the Bill Barett, country living, coffee drinking, park going pre-Gorillaz frontman band.
y? u cant know about every good band on eath, and i think thats good, that there at least one song, that know (or ever heard once) anyone
“Submission - Sex pistols”
@João de Arruda Campos Cardoso Check out their best of compilation, it's truly great. More specifically, look at Parklife, 13, and The Great Escape.
@João de Arruda Campos Cardoso listen to Modern Life Is Rubbish, their second album and for me, their best
Also Parklife and Leisure are good listenings, but Modern Life is perfect and every song goes perfectly
Much respect for including Bang. Criminally underrated song and a killer riff
I'd argue it's harder than Snow by RCHP
Killer playing on "No Distance Left To Run"! Coxon is immense. 'Clover Over Dover' is another cool piece by him.
Thanks. Haven't heard that one, will check it out.
@@bloxsy_ it’s on Parklife. Superb album. She’s So High is another favourite of mine which is on their first album.
Clover Over Dover is my favorite blur song
I always wanted to know how Graham players it on guitar 🎸

graham is so underrated as a guitarist- he’s made such iconic riffs. one of my fav guitarists
Song 2, Magic America, Bugman, Beetlebum, Parklife, and Coffee and TV. They've got to be on here.
coffee and tv was on there?
Very well done. Coxon is too much underrated. He is so talented and creative.
The instrumental outro to Beetlebum is about as magnificent as it gets. Absolute eargasm!
Great effort!! Beetlebum made me start singing at one point, that riff always gets me.
Blur deserve more recognition, I personally love their music, but I love the development of it through the years even more, from britpop to their own sound.
Thank you!
Brit-pop WAS their own sound. Are you suggesting they 'copied it'?
@@bloxsy_ + magic America, clover over Dover. There must be another 10 worth bringing our attention to :)

His arrangement for "He thought of cars" might by my favourite. Fantastic player.
Colin Zeal, specially live, is a killer too.
I love that you included bang, i love the guitar on that track and it doesnt get talked about enough
Guitar And bass are killing on that track.

So, so pleased No Distance is on there. What a beautiful chord progression to play.
Top 10 strokes riffs!
That Swamp Song riff is pretty killer too doe

Ahhh!! Graham Coxon es taaan bueno e infravalorado, como solista la rompe también. ♥️
Al fin, un comentario en español, hola hermano seamos amigos jajajaja

Amazing how big Blur are and Coxon is still underrated. Great work here!
10. That’s it? Gotta do like 50 of them.
Graham Coxon is a guitar legend. No Doubt.
Great playing man! Keep it up
The minute I saw it was Blur, my excitement went right up! They’re one of my favourite bands alongside Nirvana, Alice in Chains and Queen!😁
OOOOH WHOOOOO!!! Great band! Thanks for the video! Watching you play we see how badass Graham Coxon is on guitar!
great video! Chemical World deserves a place here
For sure! Graham’s best riff.
Yeah!
Yes!
Exactly my thoughts man!)
He stops playing Song 2 on 2:02
For such a pop sounding band Blur has some serious killer riffs! Great playing man!
Idk, Pop is the last thing I think of Blur. Most of their riffs and basslines are stupid hard lol

Ooooh, special thanks for the outro part of "Beetlebum", not just the riff. Goosebumps.
I remember watching Beetlebum on tv as a kid and being blown away by the video when the camera goes out of the window and flys around with Grahams guitars. Amazing.
Yeah the best bit. I need to do a proper guitar cover of that.
The vocal harmony is out of this world. What a track
Graham Coxon is a genius! So underrated!
some of the most creative guitar work in pop music, blur are goat tier
The outro of Beetlebum never fails to give me goosebumps
Graham and Alex has unique liffs.
Mudhoney and now Blur, never cease to amuse me, keep it up!!
Thanks man.
Beautifully played. I rate On Your Own as their most under appreciated riff :) . Thanks for doing this!
Amazing!!! Nice one Coxon is my favourite guitarist and you smashed it
Coxon is actually a genius. No Distance To Run is amazing
Nice playing. Made me appreciate Graham Coxon’s guitar work even more.
I like the partial chord bends on Coffee and TV. Very creative thinking outside the box.
Coxon is unmatched on the riff creativity field.
Bloxsy could very well be Graham Coxon's long lost twin, brilliant stuff
Sunday sunday and chemical world should be here!! Coxon has soooooo many great riff that you would have to make a 30 minutes video.
Wow, Great job! I really liked your choices. They were such a harmonically inventive band. Very cool hearing your playing. Thank you for sharing.

Out Of Time is one of the greatest songs ever written…
I swear that song was made made after Coxon left blur?

Beetlebum is a masterpiece.
Charmless Man! Awesome riff, probably my favourite Blur riff. Obviously Parklife is a classic. Love Beetlebum, simple but great.
he thought of cars is easily one of their best imo

Repetition is another great song with an amazing riff!
Blur songs are some of the toughest I've learned, and I used to play some of that technical heavy metal. Star Shaped is a good one too.
Villa Rosie deserves a mention here, Colin zeal, stereotypes and end of the century as well
Good job
