It's completely normal to find steering during a U-turn a bit challenging at first! When making a U-turn, you'll want to turn the steering wheel as much as possible towards the direction of the turn (left for a left U-turn, for example) right from the start. This is often referred to as "lock to lock," meaning you turn the steering wheel until it can't turn any further.
As you start turning, slowly release the steering wheel to allow it to begin straightening as you complete the U-turn. The key is to make the turn at a slow, controlled speed to ensure you have enough space to complete the U-turn without needing to reverse. Practice in a safe, open area like an empty parking lot to get a feel for how much to turn the wheel and how the car behaves. With a bit of practice, you'll get the hang of it!
