We need a strong union that fights for us with an army of lawyers, we must end piracy, "streaming", and unfettered AI. The Union of New Musicians must control and defend our own music sales and our own streaming and our own AI, trained only on us, giving us shareable songwriting credits and the ability to hook up idea people with technical musicians. Music by the People is very important to counterbalance corporate "influencers". Now is the time to shift from legacy Hollywood musicians to us, the People.

@RoryElis the kids can HEAR the lack of soul in A.I. music... I say this after watching rhe Rick Beato video where his kid would say "that's ai" they knew it by hearing it. Rick Beato, an industry "insider" couldn't tell! If someone could hear a difference, you would think it would b the guy who recorded a bunch of music... These kids are not like us. They can tune out much better cuz of the overstimulation w the internet. It's sad 😔

Free speech, innovation, and fairness are the hallmarks of a Trump Government. Coincidentally AI technology has become the catalyst for hundreds of thousands of music makers to realise their dreams. The music corporations have been in the hands of the few and a tightly held closed shop. With the aid of AI, budding songwriters young and old are able to realise their dreams of making music. It wouldn't surprise me if DOGE looks upon AI music makers and simplifies and protects rights ownership.

The music biz has been really lame for a long time. Musicians can make money by going outside the music industry. Such as running kick starter to press records or sell merch. If Kickstarter was a “music biz” service they’d find a way to not pay us. But because it isn’t you can raise thousands of dollars. It’s that simple. Avoid the “industry” at all costs

Is the use of AI to sound like an artist's style any different from when producers try to recreate the sound of their favorite producer (let's say Dr Dre for the recognizability of his sound).? • @SanderEvers
      @SanderEvers 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@KDMack-qv4wv Humans can also not create things out of thin air. Everything you do was once learned to you, and you need materials to do so. You use a neural network (your brain) to combine those to make something new. An AI / LLM does basically the same thing on a digital level. This is why AI will never be able to replace all humans. Because AI can't learn from AI. AI can learn from the Human input to AI and the result of that. But AI can't create the input. (See it as the chicken and the egg issue)
However AIs are created by (large) companies so - at least right now - they are easy targets for copyright legislation. But to me this is very similar for human. For example if you whistle / hum a song you heard on the radio. That's basically a copyright infringement. But then there is something like fair use, which would protect you. AI does basically the same thing here, but is not protected under fair use. Which is why Trump is going to move on to changing copyright legislation that (at least to some degree) it does. And at least to me, that seems fair. Because if you forbid AI using copyrighted material, you basically only can train AI on "public domain" material, basically destroying innovation.

Unpopular opinion - If you cannot sue a human (or company) or take royalties from that human for creating a derivative work then you should not be able to sue or take royalties from a person (or company) that uses Ai to do the same thing. It seems people often believe that “human creativity” is a rare, pure essence, completely untouched by external influences, modern or otherwise a wholly original and unfiltered form of personal expression.
AI, like other tools, builds upon what creators have always done: copy, iterate, and adapt. However, AI does this on an unprecedented scale, making creative processes like music creation more accessible and democratized.
In the U.S., a capitalist society, rarity, whether natural or artificially created often drives value. Before Gutenberg’s printing press, scribes were paid significant sums for their labor because they couldn’t produce books on a large scale, making books rare and expensive. After the printing press revolutionized production, books became far more affordable and accessible. Today, they can often be resold for pennies on the dollar at used book sales without raising an eyebrow.
Interestingly, some of the earliest mass-printed materials, after religious texts like the Bible, included popular genres such as romance, satire, and even erotic literature. This influx of printed works did not diminish creativity; instead, it laid the groundwork for the development of the many great fictional works we celebrate today.

Yes, this is definitely something to be majorly concerned about. I can understand why there are those who think that it's important to loosen restrictions for AI development, but I think that it's important to distinguish between, the kind of AI, which is important to have, primarily because it can solve serious problems, and make our lives significantly better, Vs. something like generative AI art/music. There was nothing wrong with the way things were before generative AI art/music, came about, and creating generative AI art/music means taking away artistic opportunity from human composers, and handing it over to machines, which is far worse than just copyright infringement. And the fact that tech companies are focusing their investments in art/music, is perhaps serving as a rabbit hole, preventing them from creating things which can solve serious problems, and benefit humanity, and ultimately benefit themselves as well.

Some will love it and some will not. Our only hope is to be the one the audience chooses. So many copy paste producers will be eliminated. They will not have the creative ability to keep up. Answer? Get better. Don’t love it enough to struggle? Ok. But no one owes you a listen. Consider the last time you sat down and put on a pop tune from ten years ago. Now. Consider the fact that I hear Dream On by Aerosmith coming from little fart can cars quite often. That song is from 1973. Learn to play learn to write and make the music that matters. But artists do not fundamentally have a right to profit from training anymore than they paid the artists that they themselves trained on; except the normal price they paid to listen to it.

    1. Ai using all the music inline to train on. Is that not one of the ways that we learn our instruments and craft? We are even encouraged to "rip-off" their licks, tone, and style.
    2. Steve Morse (guitar virtuoso for those who don't know), release an instrumental album called Major Impacts. All the music was original but every song was written in the style of some of his influences, like The Who and Genesis and so on. His music but sounding like the different bands or artists. I hope all of those creatives that voted for trump fully appreciate what will happen to their careers if AI training becomes fair use. If AI created outputs are given preferential treatment to human creations, it’s over.

trump or no trump, fair use is up to the courts not the president. Also, AI created outputs are very much human user outputs. The only difference is speed of execution. Human creativity is still all over AI, as AI operates a transfer of creative resources from the elites to the masses.

I already run a image generator on my computer for free. And soon the "waifu" market will worth almost nothing.
Soon or later I will run a musical generator on my computer.
And no one will do nothing against what I can generate as long as I share the product for free.
And we will make stuff no artist will never wish to do, something awful, something like: A anarcho capitalist version of Harry Potter starring Billy Corgan.

BUT if u r able to take it & make $ from it u should do me the solid of throwing me the $ for my idea. whatever happened to word being a bond? Now u gotta pay lawyers to argue in court & they wont argue unless there is a contract and signatures and they did the contract so they r getting paid both ways... i am calling myself a wordematician (i made this) and this reality needs to b different. When some random person in a comment board asks me to sample something, how do u get a contract out of that? Please respond lawyer lady, I am but a simple hillbilly from KY who has something I hope everybody would want, how do I turn it into $? I have left my # on ur message thing, u responded about me losing my wife, HELP me & I will help u. I bring lots to the table, just not $....

I think this article is a little bit of fear mongering. I have been and will be cautiously optimistic about this new world of AI. I also do think less Government involvement is always better because Governments, even with best of intentions, usually end up creating worse unforeseen consequences with regulation. Just my humble opinion. I am British so no real skin in the US game but overall I think AI will be a long term net benefit for humanity. But as other comments have already pointed out, nobody knows what he will do and this article is all speculation.

I imagine Donald Trump would have a problem with someone used his name and his image to do something away from him. His copyright would be just as invalid. Is what you're saying, so what about that someone doing an AI? Of Donald Trump and using his name to make money. I'm sure he would be a little choked.

This AI stuff is all so sad, Music is art, art is the expression of the human heart, mind and soul, we as humans appreciate art as it is an extension of the human soul, that's what makes it art, I write, reord, mix and master all my own stuff, I do all of the vocals and all instruments myself with no use of pitch correction or auto tune and I have worked my ass off mastering my craft which is another imprtant aspect as we see the work that artists put in and sometimes it's like 'wow, I can't believe the persistence and focus and talent required to create this' etc and now y'all telling me that AI has anything to do with art? DO THE WORK, LEARN YOUR CRAFT, YOU LAZY JERKS, TRY CRETING SOMETHING YOURSELF AND YOU"LL SEE HOW DIFFERENT IT FEELS TO DO THE WORK AND HAVE THE DEDICATION, I actually can't believe this is even being entertained, AI is not art and these people are making it so hard for true artists to be seen and appreciated, peace out friends ✌

Trump’s policies will always favour large US corporations over individuals. If your musical instruments or equipment are imported, they will be taxed heavily through tariffs.
The CARES Act amplified systemic vulnerabilities of individual musicians and venues in times of crisis. While the relief measures helped some, the lack of a tailored approach underscored the need for future programs designed specifically for the arts and entertainment sector. Initiatives like the Save Our Stages Act (later incorporated into the December 2020 relief package) addressed some of these gaps but came too late for many.
