I knew one who told me he bragged to convince everyone else he did a good thing, because inside, he felt ashamed and regretful. Personally, I think it denegrates one's service and says bad things about one's personal character that they even find it something to brag about.

Kringing, I was stationed in Ramstein, 86 Airlift Wing. Lived north of K town past the army posts (Hochspeyer) . Had my oldest son at the hospital in Landstuhl. Worked on C130 engines.
Well I climbed into one of these C130 based in Germany, while visiting Baltics, what a great flying machines they are! Thanks for looking after engines, whatever timeline that was :))
My daughter doesn't talk about the military. She served 22 years, and did 9 tours in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Korea, Kabul, etc. 100 disabled. God bless her and everyone who served. My husband served, also, and now my daughter's son is serving. 😢
I was lucky. I only went to Vietnam, and the Dress Rehearsal called Desert Storm. The Reservist I know called it the world's longest Summer Camp with a live fire exercise near the end.
My Dad served in WW2, Korea (stayed home), Vietnam, and a year in Saudi. He retired in 1973, after serving for 35 years. Died in 1999. My Dad would tell anyone that if you were in the service and did any job the military told you to do, you are a vet and deserve the respect of all other vets and the general public. To all the people who were in the military, "Thank you for your service."
My dad also served in WW11 and Korea. He never bragged about being in the service but did cry for the soldiers who served in Vietnam the way they were being treated when the soldiers came home. Served in the Marines. I salute all veterans and military soldiers. 🪖
Every person who served honorably, irregardless of task, is a person who gave for their country & every veteran deserves respect, a DECENT SALARY & support for his family-for life.
how did the people who invaded iraq serve their country? they went there, destabilised a region that was barely holding together and created a worldwide refugee problem and now half the world has to deal with illegal immigrants some of which end up committing violent crimes because of the untreated trauma they suffered there was no honor whatsoever in what they did to iraq. and you can say the same about vietnam libya and even kuwait
Sure kid, sure. Every veteran is equal. You were apparently a REMF. I’m not sure what you kids call rear echelons mother F’ers now days. I bet you were one of those guys whose contract called for a specific stationing so that you were safe from combat? Do they still do that?
But every veteran doesn't deserve respect now if they act like asses. Be glad to honor the service but I ain't going to be glad to honor dickheads. I got her back not his.
I never thought I would see so much disrespect for female veterans right after Veterans Day💙I am heart broken for my fellow veterans and soldiers. Much respect in this terrible time. 21 years and will always be proud of my service
Uh... that's the product of someone's imagination. This is all scripted and didn't happen. I'm not suggesting there aren't bad actors out there, but this is complete fiction. Nothing to get upset about...
It’s a movie script and she wasn’t disrespected. The guy got served, pun intended, because he didn’t realize she was also a veteran. So he got called out for boasting about his service by someone more experienced. The movie isn’t rated highly though because the script is poorly written, twisting PTSD to look beneficial, and its lack of realism.

@@rudib-5304I guess you didn’t pay attention in history class when you were a kid huh? Vietnam was under threat of becoming a Soviet nation. Half the population didn’t want communism and they were incapable of defending themselves from the USSR and the people who DID want communism. They literally could not have defended themselves without our help because the soviets were backing their Vietnamese supporters with weapons and supplies. If we didn’t do anything, it would be another North/South Korea type of situation.
My dad never bragged. I had to start listening to his war stories from others (how he was the only survivor in ambushes, how he used to drink a whole bottle of whisky and smoke cannabis before his "suicide missions" (that's what they called his missions because the probability of returning was super small", how he had to collect pieces of his best friend (when their convoy jeep fell in a landmine) to bring them to his family and talk to his friend's son (and godson), how he survived sniper fire and ambushes, so many stories... His "nom de guerre" was "Soma e Segue" (roughly translated: "Add and follow" (Mission after mission).Later in his life he started telling these and other stories,
Beautiful story. Soma e segue is Portuguese. Would you mind to share the nationality? As a Brazilian reservist, the history of real life hero is a tremendous motivational drive.
My uncle taught people how to drive a tank in Germany in the early 1970s. I found it odd after he passed away that his headstone said Vietnam on it because he never went to Vietnam nor had ever claimed to have gone there. It turns out during wartime no matter where your stationed at in the military they'll tack that on there just to let people know you served during that period of time.

@@Blacksun169 I totally disagree with you. I served in the USAF for 20 years and every waking day and sleeping night of that service we (and I include every soldier, sailor, marine, airman, coast guard, guardsmen and reservist) was on call 365/24/7 in order to protect this country and it's territories. I deployed to Saudi Arabia in late '90, but prior to that we all "fought" in a cold war for many years. Every individual who "joins up" is taught how to handle a weapon in order to defend this great land when called upon, no matter what their job is. I'm pretty sure every infantryman or marine on the frontlines was mighty frigging happy that some fellow serviceman was back here in the states making sure his ammo arrived on time, or those back at base made sure his grub was ready when it needed to be. I don't know if you served or not, but either way you definitely don't understand how our military works or the great commitment it takes for those who serve to defend our great nation.

My greatest gift in my life was being there for him to his very last breath while I held his hand .

It's been my experience that the more serious the service given, the less noise is made about it afterward. That said, bedpans have to be changed, and doing so is honorable service deserving of respect.
My experience too. I'm a veteran, ten years - four in USAF and six in the USN. But never saw combat. My relatives who saw combat, they never talked about it. My old late Uncle Abe saw combat in WWII and Korea. All he'd say about Korea was, "It was cold. So cold."
It’s all honorable! He is the one who made it not honorable. Also, the distinction in type of work here was more about showing him she was very much capable of kicking his ass for the disrespected given to these women, imo.
These thugs are in no way respecting these women. First, calling a woman you do not know, "Sweetheart" in a condescending tone is unwanted. If that guy had been alone, probably would have done that. These kind of guys feed off each other-it's revolting. I've never seen this movie "Fear the Night," but I hope she got the chance to straighten them out even more!
If he thought the implication of being an orderly was shameful, that's on him. It probably means, that whatever he did, *he* was ashamed of himself for not having a role that saw combat. Because you know if he was changing bedpans, he'd more likely have cracked a joke, probably apologised, and gotten his friend to back off. There's no helping someone who's ashamed of their service - military or civilian. There are less than glamorous jobs that need doing to keep cities, militaries, or countries running. There's no sense in being ashamed of doing what's needed.
He served. That's what's important. If it's like this then ppl won't want to serve anymore. However his behavior is wrong. Hence whether he served or not ppl won't care. A soldier should be honorable. Worthy of the uniform he or she wears. Ppl will despise him and won't care whether he served because he is standing up for the wrong crowd. Be honorable. Make your country proud, with your service and with your attitude.

The reason they do it in movies is just to portrait male soldiers as idiots macho wanna be. In addition to allow the so called female soldier as way more smart and brave. The evidence is the majority of comments trashing the so called male soldier in this clip.
Even if they WERE veterans, still wouldn't give them an excuse to be creeps to women by continuously hitting on them when they aren't remotely interested.
No veteran who served honorably should ever be disparaged because he/she didn't serve in a "Hot Zone"... The threat of danger was ever present during the Cold War, also... We all wore the same uniform and took the same oath to defend the same Constitution of the United States of America with our lives...
True, but he was being disrespectful to those girls whose parents paid their taxes so this goon could serve. That’s right. We paid our taxes so all service men and women, could have the opportunity to serve and travel the world and get a free education. So, disrespect breeds disrespect. That’s why the actress did what she did. He was being disrespectful to those he promised to protect.
My first deployment I was out of the 379th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron doing fly away missions and I had to escort deceased and Injured Veterans from the AOR to Rammstein Germany where we turned them over to the 86th. So for her to try and demoralize the 86th who do a great job at taking care of the caskets and injured is disrespectful in and of itself. Not everyone fights in wars but everyone has a job to do.
My mothers cousin did two tours to Vietnam. He was stationed after training in Malaya and spent time in Borneo before Nam. All kiwis in Nam were regular Army so not conscripted. Still alive and living in the Hokianga harbour on whanau, family property. A Maori warrior no less. He said it was just a job but he liked it. Certainly returned with no ill effects. In his eighties. Has a lot of Vietnam war books.
I had several older family members that served during 'Nam. The one that really got me was my cousin (he's about twenty years older than me) who is a Good Ol' Boy farmer that I NEVER suspected served. He and the family never mentioned it at all and I only found out about ten years ago when I was over at his place for a family get-together and saw all this Marine paraphernalia and asked why it was there. All he said is he served two tours and that was it. Never wanted to say anything about it at that time, either. So yeah, definitely folks in grinder don't like to talk about it.

He said you tell them on the quiet not to eat any of the pigs being in a war torn country. If you get the drift. He had personally seen what they were eating.
One of my biggest regrets is that I never got to serve my country in the Armed forces. I had a bad accident in my teens and broke my foot and ankle. My granddaughter is 2nd airborne, and almost bled out three years ago before she could get help! (Waiting for the only doctor who would do anything) no emergency entrance or personnel) at 6:00 ! Government should not be involved with women’s healthcare at all, not for religious reasons! That against our constitution and oaths of offices !
@elocinsbgdaddy Given recent events, I'm guessing he means she nearby bled out due to a pregnancy complication. Because some states have written laws that basically say you can't let a woman abort a pregnancy until she is literally dying. So keep that in mind, the forced birthing crowd will let your military veterans bleed out and die in agony when doctors could save them because they are so uneducated about how complicated and dangerous a pregnancy can be.
This having ever so much to do with reproductive care, civilian side health care in general or whatever 2nd airborne is, as there is no second airborne division, there is an 82nd, under the XVIII Airborne Corps. And if government isn't involved in healthcare, especially women's healthcare, how does a woman get a licensed physician, since there would be no medical licenses? Not to mention that you jumped from federal to what is by all definitions currently state jurisdictions, which every US citizen knows are entirely separate entities, each with different powers and limitations that don't even overlap, per the US Constitution. The oaths of office only swearing allegiance to the laws and Constitution of the US. Can you get *anything* right? For that matter, do you even have a child? You've gotten everything else not even wrong! Better yet, stay the fuck off of my side.
I'm happy that government is involved in healthcare - 🇬🇧 NHS. The last Tory Government defunded it trying for privatisation by stealth. When properly managed, it's one of the best aspects of the UK. It's not a case of government saying what treatment we can get but millions of Americans are happy with a commercial insurance company saying what THEY can get. I was a member of a well regulated millitia, Territorial Army, Royal Engineers.

Clearly she only said it cause she felt he and his friends werent showing proper respect as it was veteran hat and he was tryna belittle her first .

'im the more legit war criminal'
'no i am'
😂😂😂
Worse in your terminology it would be. "I'm a legit war criminal, you're just the guy who helped save lives instead of taking them. lolol. What a loser. I'm so cool and based. lololol."
I'll take conversations that would never happen for five hundred bucks pls.
This happens.
@@manlybaker3098only if they're lying. The Army and USMC began deploying women in combat arms in 2016. Battle of Fallujah was in 2004.
I love how this would never happen though.
That's the type of "men" that give men a bad reputation. She was great!
Yep. The type who think every woman they hit on in a random environment owes them just for coming into the woman
Nice to hear Ramstein pronounced correctly. The K-town reference is cool too. I was stationed at Ramstein for five years and was in base housing at Landstuhl. Fun times.
Ramstein still was not pronounced correctly
it wasn't pronounced correctly tho
Having served in K-Town for 38 months, I had to laugh!
The hell is K-town?

Kaiserslautern, a town just east of Ramstein AB.
i love how she came and supported the 2 women already there’s stance on not wanting to talk to the guys
The one in the plaid blazer had to think if she was looking for something special.😂
*Nurses also part of the military.* Say *_'THANK YOU,'_* that there was, someone there, to give you a bedpan.
Yeah i dont get why thats supposed to be the putdown
@@claresageWell he is bragging how big brave soldier he is, and want to be considered hero, not because of what he did, but because he said so. There is no problem in thanking him for his service, but he does use that to humuliate her, and to force her respect. She is just shoving him he is not the only one who deserve respect, but he should also respect others, and also putting him in his place.
@@dominikakratochvil860you made all that up. He simply said he served and he gave it to his friend. She is just being a bitch.
This is what you call "bad writing" to make her a bad ass.
Respect for those who saw combat.
Respect for those who provided the support required for the combat troops to do their thing.
Who the hell is trying to divide the military against itself? Has that not done enough harm to our culture in civilian life?
Exactly. Call the person an asshole. Don't deride their service.
Never insult another veteran's service
You.
I like you.
I rarely say much about my service. Civilians have no idea. Veterans get competitive over it.
we visited Ramstein Air Base in a school trip and not one person informed us that there was a huge plane crash in 1988 and 70 people died smh
I remember that.... I was in Nuremburg, Johnson Barracks...
really? you must've seen horrifying pictures back then. many of them aren't public anymore. may the souls of the soldiers, visitors and individuals rest in peace... we didn't even pay our respects or anything. that was so ignorant of our trip-advisor.
@@germangirl2017 No pictures seen, just remember it from the Army news report. Sad deal....
Correct, my uncle was there at the show
Greetings from "south west germany" :)
And for sure ... greetings to all NATO comrads
It happend in 1988 during an air show at the air base en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramstein_air_show_disaster
Cracks me up how writers think this is how small town people interact with women.
Served as a AF Military Brat from '69-'87 :)
I was an AirForce brat between '58-83 + after my dad retired he was civil service from 85-2011 we moved all over the world every 3 to 4 yrs we moved hate moving but proud to be a military brat😊

What's the name of this movie or show please?
Possibly a movie called "Fear the Night"
I dont give a damn if you served the eggs in the morning to the troops..
You served period.
Her issue was with the guy who was wearing the cap, not the one who had served. The guy who actually "served" basically dug his grave trying to stand up for his friend since the woman turned out to be an active combat vet, which the guy seemed to not have been.

😂😂😂 HOOAH !!! Get Em dear Sister!!! ARMY here.
Huh??
@elocinsbgdaddy Given recent events, I'm guessing he means she nearby bled out due to a pregnancy complication. Because some states have written laws that basically say you can't let a woman abort a pregnancy until she is literally dying.
So keep that in mind, the forced birthing crowd will let your military veterans bleed out and die in agony when doctors could save them because they are so uneducated about how complicated and dangerous a pregnancy can be.
Yeah she nearly bled out cause of the VA, but somehow you’ll blame Trump
A veteran shouldn’t 💩 on where another veteran served. No matter where it was or what they did.
If he's being a complete arse, a veteran should!
A veteran also shouldn’t be harassing people at the register of a gas station. If I understand correctly, soldiers (and by extension other veterans) are encouraged to put disrespectful jerks in their place when they get out of line, no?
We shit on where others serve all the time, it’s normal, if they didn’t do much they shouldn’t go flaunting it around. 😂
Med Evac is rotary airlift and short distance movements. Air Evac is fixed wing airlift. This character was not Med Evac’d from Iraq to Germany. She was Air Evac’d to Germany.
Telling people you "served" in Fallujah, where the Americans dropped tones of depleted uranium on innocent people, is not the flex you think it is.
This is just so unrealistic lmao. Like I know they're trying hard to make women look cool but this is just pure cringe. But that doesn't mean women can't be cool. There have been multiple Directors and writers, even game developers who have done a wonderful job making women badass & believable at the same time. Whereas these guys just suck at writing a more realistic and non-douchey character that is actually badass in a way that both men & women like her
Good on that lady, sticking up for the other ladies and putting those two fuckwits in there place,we need more people like her.
Too bad it's all fake.
Maggie Q! Always a Boss.
Stars as Renee Ballard in the next season of Bosch & is scheduled evolve into spinoff…
She plays the role reasonably well. I don't think any of them have been in uniform, except a server's uniform at the local restaurant
I cracked up when she said "I thought you said you served, my mistake." I was hoping for it and I was not disappointed!!!
