    Awesome vid! You have all the mods and repairs I’ve been planning for my bike, no bullshit, no filler. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos!

    Oh! That is interesting what you did with that C3 thermostat and bypass reroute!

    The that trail tech temp sensor and the one you got in the fan kit are likely both the same type. You could Use the sensor in the thermostat housing for the fan kit, and get a much more accurate temp reading.

      The sensors are definitely different. They might be calibrated the same but I don’t know that. I like having both readouts anyway.

    Great video and guide.
    For anyones next soldering iron... Check out TS100 or pinecil soldering irons... Super handy and compact. Juat make aure to get a 5525 coaxial connector for power.

      Do these little irons put out as much heat as my big one? I have a couple smaller ones but they take forever. I always come back to the big Weller.

      @@ChuckfromTrueTech from room temperature up to around 400F (or whatever soldering temperature is) in about 10 seconds. As long as you have the correct voltage, but the real benefit is consistency and longevity, they don't burn up tips ever. I should note what you do need to bring your own power supply. I use spare RC car batteries but you could buy a wall wart or use an old laptop charger. Anyway as far as power, I believe they draw 60watts. They're perfect for wires 14 gauge and smaller. If you go 12 gauge or bigger it will take an increasingly amount of skill and experience for this iron to be useful. Digitally controlled, light as an ink pen. I just think they're super cool functional and reliable. No, I'm not a salesman hahaha

    I run a Voyager pro 9000 which shows voltage and temp...I've never had the voltage drop where I had to control the fan to keep the battery alive. I've been in severe hot conditions, running the fan a lot, starting my engine over and over in serious hard enduro and have never had an issue. Use the fan kit where you control when the fan comes on and off from Trail Tech, I don't recommend connecting it to the ECU fan control, it doesn't allow you to have any control to keep the engine cool when needed.

      It’s certainly rare for the fan to kill the battery, but I have seen it a number of times. The interesting one was this spring on the race course I rode in the video. A group of expert riders all had bike trouble. Some boiled their coolant out & some had dead batteries. They rolled back to the staging area on the road in a group. I had that in mind while putting this together.

      @@ChuckfromTrueTech Chuck, another good thing about your switch to control the fan, and it might sound strange, but when you stop to talk with your ride group and the fan is running, it's annoying to try and talk over the fan and also try to hear someone talking with you while it's running. With your manual switch, you can shut the fan off so it's not interfering with normal communication. Anyway, great install and very clean just like all of your work.

    Would be cool if there was an automatic way to shut the fan off in case your battery got below a set voltage. Then you don't have to worry about manually flicking the switch and forgetting to leave the switch in the on position, in which case a faulty thermostat would still drain your battery. Far less likely without the manual switch if you remember though. I just have a terrible memory so I always look for automation.

    • @ChuckfromTrueTech
      @ChuckfromTrueTech  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That could be done relatively easily with a VSR (voltage sensitive relay.) They’re commonly used in boats & sometimes in RVs. I expect smaller ones are available though.

    how do you think the CRF 250F would handle the terran you were on @time stamp 13:30 ?

    • @ChuckfromTrueTech

      Ground clearance is a bit of an issue but I know I could ride a 250F in there. It would just be more work.

    Is there any way to increase the output voltage on these bikes? If the bike had a headlight and a fan or tail light, this would be a problem, right? When above idle will the stator keep up? Love the videos thanks for the info you give riders and shops like mine, super helpful

    • @ChuckfromTrueTech
      @ChuckfromTrueTech  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are higher output stators available. If you were going to add more accessories (maybe heated grips, high output lights, GPS, phone charger etc) it can certainly be beneficial to up the charging capacity.

  • @1176hambone
    @1176hambone 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's my favourite kind of riding. Put me in the nasty, rocky, rooted, rutted, muddy gnar.
