  • Complete start to finish install of the OEM optional aftermarket radiator cooling fan by Trail Tech. The fan-on temperature is adjustable between150-200F (65-95C), and incorporates a digital display. I prefer the digital fan over the computer controlled option as it allows you to see warm up and running temps. This is handy for operation of the cold-start assist feature. The other OEM option is the plug-and-play computer controlled fan, however, it lacks the digital display.

    Actually just did mine but used the simplest method, just removed the top hose and rotated rad enough to install fan. Worked great, not a drop of fluid spilled, way quicker.

    Came back to say you should do more videos of the bike as you add or fix stuff on it. Highlighting the bolts needing to be remove, using text to show the socket size , and showing every step with good camera angles plus great lighting! Very professional.
    Would love to see a top end rebuild from you when the time comes.

    Very informative video. I just picked up a 2022 TE250i after riding a 2003 KTM 525 EXC for almost two decades and am going through setting it up and breaking it in. Fan kit is in the next wave of upgrades. Your video had lots of other relevant info regarding the Husqvqrna TE's that I found very useful. I would really appreciate any other setup / break in info you might be able to pass on. Did you replace the stock hand guards with full aluminium bark buster type hand guards and if so which ones have you found to fit the best? The manual says to check and adjust the steering head bearings after only one hour. I would imagine that unless there is perceptible looseness just snugging it up a very small amount would suffice. Thank you again for your channel and efforts to post all this info. It is a great reference source.

    You forgot to bleed the top screw on the cylinder for the coolant?
    Or is it not necessary if you don't remove the cylinder?
    awsome video tho!

    Any ideas what temperature to set on this fan for FX350 '23 ? I don't want it to be cold or overheat, but can't figure out what temperature would be fine
    - I don't know how coolant temperature is related to radiator temperature (sensor is stuck between radiator pins, not inside cooling system where coolant is directly touching it).

    Nice job explaining the install! I Just picked this bike and fan kit up. Was watching your vid before I start just to realize I need that wire harness kit, (classic shop guy not knowing parts). Since you got the same bike do you know a part number for wrap around hand guards that fit onto the stock flags?
    Thanks and great vid

      Thanks and congrats on the new bike! I'm not sure what the part number is for the handguard piece. I think I saw them on the Husqvarna accessories website. I've used that for finding part numbers then searching them on the web. RockyMountainATV.com has a good filter for searching for parts by make and model.

    how close is the display to the gas tank? i just got that fan for my 2022, i haven't installed yet but it looks like the bracket for the the display is going to rub on the tank.

    • @MasterJacks

      I hadn't noticed that, but yes it does. There isn't a lot of contact. I think you could lightly file the bezel right there and make some clearance.

    Curious, using the fan relay does the fan shut off on it's own after the bike is shut off?. Mine came with a switch and will continue to run even after the bike is turned off until it reaches the desired set temp. Problem with this is the drain on battery and the fact that there is no water circulating with the engine off.
    Thanks

    • @MasterJacks
      @MasterJacks  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the switch is wired correctly in series between the battery and the fan, you can turn the switch off and bypass fan temperature control when the bike isn't running. If you leave the switch on, it's direct wired to the battery and the temperature control built into the fan dictates when it turns on or off regardless of whether the bike is running or not. I don't have the switch on mine, and it doesn't bother me that the fan is trying to cool the bike when it's not running. With the lithium battery, I've never had a problem with the battery getting weak. Especially in situations where the fan is needed. It means you're actively riding the bike, and the battery is being maintained in a good state of charge. It's also fine the coolant isn't being circulated when the bike's off. The fan will cool what it can. If you bypass your switch, and wire direct into the OEM relay slot, your fan will now be getting two signals. The bike computer will be trying to control the on-off temp, but so will the fan. The fan might be asking for power, but the computer isn't sending it because the two temps don't agree. Not sure if that helps you with what you're after, but hopefully good information. Thanks for watching!

      @@MasterJacks I have a couple friends that have KTM 300 Erzberg edition and when they shut off their bikes the fans runs for maybe 5 seconds after. That is why I was wondering if the fan relay on the Husky would do the same.

    • @MasterJacks
      @MasterJacks  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm 99% positive this fan would fit your bike. The wiring is universal. I would look up the radiator on your bike, and the radiator on this bike and see if they have the same part number. If the radiator is the same, the fan will mount up. This is a great fan, and fits up to most husky, KTM models. Good luck!

    I just did all this about a month ago, now it’s got a huge draw killing the battery when the bike is off. Any ideas

    • @MasterJacks
      @MasterJacks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you used the same method and direct wired to the battery (didn't tie into any factory wiring), then I would disconnect the fan and see if your drain goes away. That would at least tell you if it's in your fan, or something else. The fan shouldn't be drawing anything, but if it is they make a switch so you can isolate it and only turn it on when you're running the bike.

    • @michaelpalovcak6218
      @michaelpalovcak6218 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MasterJacks it’s definitely the fan, bike is a 22 300te with the oem fan plugged into the oem plug and harness. Pretty simple. Only a month old. What could be drawling it?

    • @MasterJacks
      @MasterJacks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wish I could tell you. If it's a direct plug into the factory harness, the brain is controlling it 🤷‍♂️. Installing a switch might be a good option. I think you can find the part number right off the Husqvarna accessories web page, 77711979000. The problem sounds familiar to me, vague memories of reading about it on forums when I was trying to decide which fan to go with.

      @@MasterJacks I installed the Ktm fan with digital display. Same as yours. If you dig through the harness under the backbone near the rubber tie that secures the wiring, you will find a empty plug that matches the plug on the fan. All 2022 and newer models come plug and play for a fan.
