This time I am making a medieval style manuscript. Calligraphy was one of my favorite subjects in art school, I decided to make one for the video :) I recorded the music myself on my mandolin :)
I used broad style nib or chisel edge nib, normal ink, and thicker paper.

MAGNIFICENT ! You are a true artist for sure. I practiced calligraphy in the 1980s, and while my writing looked really nice, it was nothing like your artistic talent. While people still comment [in my 60s] how nice my handwriting is, the only element of my calligraphic practice I still have, is orienting my writing, and writing faint lines in pencil (on blank pages like cards), that are later erased.
There's something about handwritten cards & letters that tell the reader, 'you're important to me'.. I wish more people would do it, especially if it's half as beautiful as [from] your artistic hand.

You need a proper tip for writing and rest is just repeating few times... Very simple and slow process 😂

Working in your basement is probably a better idea than working in a workshop, though! Glad you got to rest. Hope you're a bit better than when you last wrote. Drink lots of water, get some fresh air if you can! Sunlight will do you well, as will a good cup of tea with lemon and honey or a glass of orange juice. Get well soon!

WOW! Beautiful....so that's how the 12th century monks were able to create such beautiful manuscripts and illuminations...they measured everything before they did any lettering or drawing...interesting....please post more..;)

Incredible work! Why does your broad nib draw such smooth and precice lines?! Mine usually leaves too much ink on the first line, which slowly soaks the area of the letter. And if that does not happen, I have to scrape a few times at the same spot, until an acceptable amount of ink finally connects, making it impossible to draw precise lines, because it gets all messy
Thanks 😊 Try writing on the side paper before writing on main paper, and don't dip the nib way too much in ink
If you consider that "less demanding" then I gotta check out your more challenging projects.

Calligraphy is great fun! Impressive to see someone "dare" to write calligraphic texts that long. You have to be fairly confident in your abillities as mistakes are easily made. One wrong line and you might have to start over again. Hats off to you! :)
+Espen Johansen Yeah I accidentally wrote 2007 (I don't know really) but I scraped it off with a chisel. I probably made a mistake because i was writing the date at about 4.00 am... 3. Sep.2017. Haha 😂 😂

Hi have a couple of questions on older manuscripts were the guidelines kept? If so were there particular hands where the guidelines were kept as a stylistic option or as a functional option? Do you erase guideline and if so does the ghose lines still show through? For example if there is and ascended or descender will they not be glazed over by the ink and thus part of the final product? On older manuscripts where there are no guidelines seen is it the case that the guidelines became part of the ink lettering. Is there any medium that fades quickly, for example a thype of ink or graphite that will fade fast and leave no impression of a guideline. Are there any links to manuscripts which illustrate the use of guidelines?
I did notice a faint line on some manuscripts and it seems they didn't draw it, more like press it with some wood to make an indentation. I think over the years it faints completely. Not sure tho

I love the decoration on the right! I'm trying to do calligraphy but I haven't had any classes, I'm not this good though. What is the pen you use? I have a lot of dipping inks and fountain pen inks but I don't have any suitable pen to dip with that gives such a nice effect.
+Captain Capellini I don't know who makes the nibs im using but search for chisel edge nib and you will find what you need 😉😊 you don't need any classes only practice and a bit of studying calligraphy, very easy and not expensive hobby, it depends but not that expensive 😂😉

Thank you Bro 😃 I really don't know what paper I used, but you can easily test it, try to write with ink on different kinds of paper and you will find best one easily 😊 if is smires and ink gets blurry it is not good paper.
