- In this video, I want to show you details about the magic of the past, the brushstrokes of forgotten artists, our heritages from our ancestors, the forgotten stories behind the constellations, and to show you a glimpses of our medieval cozy day.
So hang out with me in this video, where I paint the first artwork from „ The Light’s Hope” serie and we cook some delicious tasting food in nature as well, like in the Middle Ages.

Sometimes the algorithm gets it right. I'm bent over an egg tempera painting practicing thousand year old technology. It is amazingly time consuming, but it ties me to multiple generations of artist who toiled away in anonymity. I've dreamed of an art Reenactment of 1400 century workshops. The history is fascinating. Rediscovering the mindset of doing art slowly is challenging. You become more of a craftsman than creator. It does enhance the "flow" aspect of being an artist, if you can free yourself from the need for production. It also lends itself to the geek in me. Each phase is a trade in itself. Learn to make wooden panels. Then to make true gesso. Add in gold leafing. Mixing your own paint from pigments and egg. Then having to relearn a whole new medium. Definitely not a good path if you need to make a living from your art.
I enjoyed your homemade brushes, and that fire roasted chicken looked delicious.

I admire your work very much. Did you know, though, that painting on canvas with oils was unknown until the Renaissance? Medieval painters worked in egg tempera on wood panels treated with gesso, or did frescoes.
Thank you so much!😊 Oh yes, I know. That is very wonderful. I have also painted Transylvanian medieval fresco reconstructions on gessoed wooden panels, as well as medieval shields and Paviese shields, and I really like that method.
I am currently experimenting with the egg tempera, mixing it with my own pigments, which I make from local rocks, which were recommended to me by our Holy Mountain, an extinct volcano. There are really beautiful colors in nature. And with a little chemistry, new colors can be produced. Just be careful of course.😅

@@eszterczerjak Using tempera as an underpainting for oils is also a trick used by old masters to achieve luminance, it's worth a try if you're into gothic art and oils!

Medieval Art is imbued with Catholicism . The whole way of life was imbued with prayer and hard work and a focus on eternity . You should read the mystics of the church during this period as I have done .
