- If at first you don't succeed.. Whelp, keep on trying I guess. Spot number 1 of the day we cleaned up some trash, caught a few fish, but got ZERO bites on live bait. Go home and give up? Nope not me. I went down the road to the broken dam, got my baits stolen, then tried a bait I've NEVER used before.. Successfully anyway. This time was different, this time it got SMASHED!!! PAAA POWWW!!!

I've been watching you for about 2 years and I would be stoked to show you some amazing fishing here in Michigan . I fish on a daily and one of the best experiences is taking my bf son on a catfish tournament this year and we won for heaviest channel creel. Your funny as hell and it would be a blast to show you about a dozen "stash -award" winning spots and spillways. From flats, channels, drumbuds, walleye,crappie,perch,pike,bowfin, and about a dozen more things. The wife and I would love to slay the fish with you and your boo. Stuff and Things!

One of my favorite spot. Grew up on that dam wll before it broke and looked way different. Used to have a huge island in the middle. All got washed out when the dam broke.

Good stuff man and may I offer as the guy who missed the first 7000000 circle hook bites I got and my customers also do it. When you get that run just lock the reel up pointing the rod at the bite and just wind. Not real fast just deliberate and when it comes tight just let the rod load. Resist any "setting" of the hook. I fish alot of Sharks and Tarpon with circles and the Cats have similar rubbery mouths like a Shark. The two best things I ever did with circles was that "hookup" and bridal ing my baits instead of putting it in the bait as they double back over the hook point as well. Great stuff

I know it's different strokes for different folks. But there's the reason I don't like circle hooks. Rather use kale hooks. But im not used to fishing like Josh does. Great video Josh none the less.

man i used baby channels whenever possible, but i clipped the spines off, or just chop the fish and use everthing behind the spines, i even put the hook sticking up out of the back too, i think the bigger fish smell baby catfish and sort expect a little poke for the meal, instead of spitting it out if they feel the hook/poke
I have used catfish minnows to catch small mouth on the Illinois River in Oklahoma.

Yea I like that too. I catch a lot of fish but lose or miss a lot too. My dad says that can happen when you get on a lot of fish lol. He always likes to say well the fish did its job. Yours is to catch it and it's job is to get away ha

I was out fly fishing last night. Perfect conditions, top water blowing up. I got one bass on a wollybugger. Doesn't matter how many you catch it's about being on the water.
It was just one of those days. We all have them days where we get several bites and it just isn't are day to catch the big ones. Thats why they call it fishing not catching. Hope the ol lady and baby is doing good.

We were in a drought here also, then a couple days ago we over doubled our record rain fall in a day. We got over 9 inches in 18 hours.

In Georgia I've caught a bunch on baby cats. Mud cats in summer and channels in winter. Clip the fins.

Damn I have done this so many times and nothing! Hell I even made one into cut bait, nothing. But throw out a chunk of creek chub and it's mauled! Oh well, even since I started throwing a jig head/crawler, bait hasn't been an issue.

Just came through Nebraska on 80 never seen the Platte river that dry got some flood watches and such in Wisconsin if you ever get a chance you should try the spillway in Clinton lake in central Illinois check at old Joe's bait n tackle in Dewitt IL they can put you on some really good spots

Ur losing the fish cause of how u pick the rod up when the clicker is smoking out...when u pick it up thumb the spool first so it keeps pressure and let the circle hook do the magic from there

You'll hook more fish if you stop picking the rod up and holding it, and then setting into the circle hook when it was already pulling line out. Just crank down on it while it's pulling, that's how a circle hook is meant to be most effective

I have a spot that the action gets hot at the same time every night when the water is low but every time I go I get bit but loose or screw up every chance I get they are not little channels they seem to be flathead and blues but I end up going through like 15 sunnys and not landing a fish 😟

In my area, bullheads are not the best bait but if u throw a small channel or blue out, it game on....also, drum works better than skipjack almost any Day of the week
