My neighbor went fishing down in Bridgeport, Al. from the bank. He cast his line in, leaned his pole against a large rock, then turned around to get something. And his pole went bye bye. He said it couldn't have been more than ten seconds. Since he only had the one rod, he had to just turn around and go home.
I know the feeling.
If you lose a rod, tie on a large treble hook.
You can catch the loose line and get your gear back.

You should do a video of some carp fishing on some of those side creeks in the Tennessee river valley. I know they ain’t the fish most of go for but I’m sure you’d make easy work of them and I’ve heard they put up a great fight.

Yes congratulations if you quit smoking. I didn't and I'm dieing from it. Being on oxygen is not fun and if you're a smoker reading this, it's a sign to QUIT SMOKING! Believe me it's a scary way to slowly go and not worth the "pleasure" you think you're having. Enjoy fishing, not smoking. Don't slowly drown yourself with smoke. Believe me you'll regret it if you don't quit. Smoking should be illegal, I wish it was illegal because it's an ugly and worthless thing. So QUIT IT while you can. Here's your sign...

Hey, Richard, great day chasing the neighborhood cats.
I'm having a tough time deciding crappie on 2lb line. Now you wanna go after catfish with 8lb line and ultra light rig. If it was anyone but you, I'd likely think you fell outta the boat on your noggin. You've never led us wrong or told us wrong, so I guess I'm gonna try it. Oh well, used to catch them on cane pole and whatever line we could find.
Cut bait, bobber, and hook, doesn't get much better or simpler.

Richard, I am so glad I found your channel!!! I'm a retired (disabled) LEO. Due to physical problems I fish through you. Days that I feel good enough to go fishing are few. But, when I do get to go I have so much more knowledge to make the fishing so much more fun and productive. You are the best!!!
I would eat everyone of those fish. My family need every good meal they can get. I got 5 grandsons that will eat catfish, or anything thing to fill their bellies.

Excellent as always! Perfect timing for a catfish video for me. I caught a 27lb flathead today with a med, mod rod, 12 lb test and a crankbait today. It was awesome!

@@perfectstranger1152 yeah! I caught two today. One much smaller on a tube. This was my second biggest ever. I caught one about 35lbs on a Tokyo rig with a little z man trd. Always catch them "by accident" when bass fishing. Very fun.
I caught a 5 ponder on a 1/8oz red rattle trap on Saturday in small pond
I caught 1 42lb and 1 38lb flathead with my hands this morning. I got a lot of nuggets out of them that we going to fry up next weekend

gene is the GOAT... for all fresh water... I love watching the areas.. bait... and tech. he uses... AND the old equipment were the same age hey Gene... you can buy spinning reel seats.. instead of using tape..haaaa just use masking tape to build up and epoxy then push your cord... HAAAA tight lines..

Richard is the GOAT, but also remember he is fishing amazing bodies of water and has the time to find the bite. Where I live, unless I drive 2.5 hours away, the catfishing is so hit and miss. I can fish with fresh shad, shrimp that still has the guts, cut perch, live perch, or any other bait for several hours and maybe catch one 2lb channel, lol. Location is key!
I gotta say the threadfins are looking good this year. I caught a net ful friday and they were so pretty. Wooooooo

I loose more fish on light tackle. So I use deep sea rods and reels ! At less 100 lbs. test line > IF I LOCK ON A BIG ONE... He's is coming in
Even if you keep fish, circle hooks will allow you to be more selective on size.
I just had to many big fish run hard and fast. That most of the time broke the line. OR Burn up my reel, or even broke the rod 🙄🙄

Maybe it was my up bringing.
Maybe jyst because I get so little to go fishing or hunting . If I'm lucky I'll get to go fishing twice a year same with hunting although up to 4 times for hunting.

Yes Richard we all have opinions. To me your opinion on fishing is legit. It's helped a lot of people land more fish. Myself included that's truth. A lot of people here who are just started fishing has helped them and us more seasoned fishermen. 😀🙂
