I watched your Camry hybrid review endlessly until mine arrived, so thank you! New Prius looks great. I didn't even look at the old one when I ordered my Camry, ugly and slow. Toyota really needs to hit a home run with this gen of Prius or the 4th gen will end up being a 1996 Ford Taurus but this is looking promising.
I'm 67 years old and about 5' 11...can't wait to see one in person. I owned both a 2nd and 3rd generation (2008 and 2013) and loved them both. I don't care so much about rear seat headroom or cargo space (just 2 in the car mostly) but am apprehensive about ingress/egress due to the lower stance. Pulling myself up to get out of some of these low cars is a problem and could be a deal breaker (would have to move ve on to a small SUV if that's the case).

As a new owner of an AWD 2023 Prius LXE I would like to see a deeper review of its various driving systems, and yeah, its entertainment/navigation system. I've had some issues with it pairing with the Google Map on my tablet. Am I the only one?
@@destroyerofsimps6574 I beg the difference, the 2010 Prius (1st year 3 gen) Was plagued with problem, including engine, brakes , electric , with most of the problems was addressed on the 2011 model.
@@marguisil Exactly, especially since it's a whole different hybrid setup from the prior gen. For something as expensive as a car, a years worth of patience for a better owners experience is more than worth it.
My mother would like a new hybrid. I think she'd like to stay as close to $30,000 as possible, but if we have to go into the high 30s it's probably fine. However, a feature which I don't know is available yet in the states, which for a senior is really helpful, is where your headlights illuminate to the left and right as you signal or turn your steering wheel at night. Apparently there was some law on America that limited it's available or it's use, but I don't understand it because my 2012 Cayenne has it
There are turn signal lights on the front of the car. I haven't seen anything that limits it. However, not everyone uses their signal, so she still needs to be aware of her surroundings.
If you mean the cornering lights, I have a Passat from 2018 with those. I think they’re prohibited but the new LED lights are really bright, I would test drive one with her in the evening or night to make sure the vision is good
my 2020 Subaru forester has it...unless you're talking about what the old days called on the Oldsmobile's ditch lights where the turn signals would turn on a side marker light..
10:39 - best example I can find of a high pitch electronic-y whirring noise. It’s subtle. There’s almost a rhythm to it. I don’t always hear it, it’s comes in and out. Know what that is? 13:35 I hear it again and gets loudest around 13:42 before fading out when you come to a stop. 14:00 After nice silence at the stop light you can hear that whirring high drone pitch again really start up.
I wish we could get the regular Hybrid version. The PHEV variant kills the payload capacity and overall fuel economy because of the extra weight and it serves no purpose for people who can not charge them at home.
@@sentryion3106 The payload capability is pretty important for many people. The current Prius generation as a PHEV has an empty weight of 1625kg and a maximum permissable weight of 1930kg. So you can only load 305kg, thats not even 4 adults with no luggage. The cargo space under the tenneau cover is only 191l because the bigger battery pack requires more height in the cargo area. Thats 40% less than even tiny car like a Smart fortwo has. If you leave the tenneau cover open you get a bit more storage but is always open for the public to see, your rear view mirror becomes useless and you risk damaging the rear glass with your cargo.
I can tell Toyota put a lot of effort into the interior design, and it looks like a high-quality car. However, if the two screens were next to each other instead of being separated, it would look more futuristic and sophisticated. The dashboard screen seems too small and too far from the driver's view. It would have been better if they had put a larger screen closer to the driver's seat and put the HUD behind it. Also, I'm not sure if it's just me, but I can hear a lot of wind and road noise coming from the bottom of the car. If you're considering buying one and care about NVH, you should keep this in mind as well.
Looking forward to seeing your POV on the Limited AWD Prius soon! Really like the new cockpit design. I like the concept for having the gauges be almost like a HUD with a smaller steering wheel that can be held lower (which I personally prefer). I’ll definitely be test driving an AWD version whenever it’s time for me to buy a new vehicle. I am a little worried about the narrow tires though.
Love my current 2nd gen prius, prefer it to the 2 subsequent generations (though the 4th gen is nice imo). This is definitely a huge leap for Prius, really looking forward to the upcoming Prime model... may just have to trade up!
I'm actually pleasantly impressed with this new Prius... for the first time in the existence of the Prius. The exterior actually looks interesting and not so bland, yet not over the top futuristic to where it would look too funky. The whole dash display is pretty futuristic looking and seems actually usable. The center display looks stuck-on and a bit of an afterthought though. It would be nice to see them integrate that better in the future. If I could actually make this car work for me, I would really consider it. Toyota is really missing an opportunity but not designing a mini-pickup using a platform like this.
I am heavily considering this, BUT I have been driving a Stick for a long time...and when I watch these drive videos, I am left with an empty feeling ...this car needs a stick!
