    Thank you. I concur 100% on LDN- it has dramatically changed my life-- -I am using LDN for chronic pain. I had problems in the beginning, taking LDN- with my own research and the understanding that the dosage my physician ordered may be too high, I asked a compounding pharmacy to make a tincture so that I could play around with my dosage. The tincture dramatically helped. Tinctures bypass the gastrointestinal system and work better for some people.

    It has been a life changer for me. I started taking it for a major inflammatory reaction to the moderna covid vax. It was severe and steroids didnt help, but this did. Ive just been taking 1.5 mg a day because anything higher gave me severe insomnia. But i am sensitive to medications with many allergies.

    This was very helpful, thank you. I am seeing a pain doctor who knew about LDN but never prescribed before. I will be trying 1.5 for 2 weeks, then 3 for two weeks, and if all goes well, 4.5. The compounding pharmacy was very helpful and has experience with LDN. All of my capsules will be 1.5 so I can work with the dose if need be. Just waiting for my prescription to be ready so I can start. I will be keeping notes on side effects, symptoms etc. for my pain doctor as well. I have found your videos very helpful, and noted the difference in your mood and energy levels from 4 years ago to now. I am hopeful that LDN will help me. ❤

      This is the exact protocol my Dr started me on...with the compounding pharmacy giving me 1.5 mg pills, to start 1 the first week, then 2 the 2nd, then 3 for a total of 4.5 mg. I'm wondering how it worked out for you? I'm still on week 1.

    I was prescribed 4.5mg capsule for ADHD, he said not necessary to titrate
    I’ve not started taken due to repeatedly hearing to start low and slow
    I’ve have many symptoms eg fatigue, brain fog, pain, inflammation, dizziness etc

    • @MelissavsFibromyalgia

      They do jump straight in at 4.5mg in research studies. I only know my conditions, not adhd, but I might have been put off if I'd tried to start at 4.5 as I can't tolerate it. Maybe a discussion with Dr? Or just give it a go?

    • @SG-4u
      @SG-4u 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cut the dose into quarters, and go up slowly every week or so (depending on how you feel). For some reason most of the studies done on LDN were done at 4.5 mg, for some reason. It’s possible plenty of people would do better at 2 or 3.

      Have you read the book “estrogen matters” ? My naturopath recommended it and said while the natural health world used to say “hi natural with yam creams and such because hrt causes cancer” that it’s actually a misnomer and more intricate than that. Much like how they used to think saturated fat or cholesterol are killers and now they know more. I’m starting the book. My naturopath who’s super front lines of research and informed says he wants me to do progesterone and estrogen and also Pregnenolone for early menopause caused by my chronic Lyme symptoms. Any thoughts?

    Because of you, my daughter got LDN and we were so happy. She started at .5 she Titration up to 1. She couldn’t get the.1. Filled so for one night she took the .5 went back to the 1. And she is having awful pain not like the first time she went up to 1. Should she continue with the1. Or go back to the .5?

      Did the Dr advise anything? Personally I stay at the dose that doesn't cause extra symptoms. It took me months to slowly titrate. So perhaps stay at 0.5 for a while? I hope it helps 🙏

  • @fzfzfzfzfzfz

    Hi Melissa, great video! QQ: How long do you stay on a particular dose before you deem it to be working or not? I went from 3.0 to 4.5mg and I am still getting significant fatigue for 2-3 hours after dosing even though I’ve been on it for three weeks now. I feel the side effects are decreasing but still quite significant, so I don’t know when to define as this dose isn’t working for me or do I need to keep pushing through for another month at least?

    • @MelissavsFibromyalgia
      @MelissavsFibromyalgia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. I can only say for myself but the effects of going to 4.5mg were so clear I dropped back immediately! When I was titrating up initially I gave it a few weeks at each dose

    I have Kaiser here in California. I asked my rheumatologist for LDN and she obliged starting me at 5mg. You’re not the only one I’ve heard from who suggests starting low and slow. It seems to me my Kaiser doc is being really cavalier about its use and I wonder if she really understands proper dosing. I’ll be honest, I don’t really feel any different on 5mg. I’d love to here your thoughts or anyone else’s for that matter.

      Can you halve the capsules? I put 45ml cooled boiled water and open a 4.5mg capsule into it. I then take 40ml (ie 4mg). If you did 50ml with 5mg capsules, could then play with 25ml (2.5mg)?

      @@MelissavsFibromyalgia thank you for this formula on how to divide a larger capsule. I’ve been searching for how to best do it. I have had fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and brain fog for 20 years. And started LDN about 3 months ago at 1.5mg and upped it once a week by .5mg. I’m now at 4.5mg which was my doctors goal for me. I just got a new prescription filled and each pill is 4.5mg but I’m feeling like that is too high now and wanted to lower the dose a bit again. I read that just opening the capsule and dividing the powder would not work well because the grains of LDN may not be evenly distributed that way. So the water method you mention sounds like a solution. Thank you!

      I also have Kaiser and was prescribed LDN by my PCP. Low and slow was her recommendation, starting at .5mg and going up by .5 every 10-14 days until reaching 4.5mg. The pharmacy always gives me a hard time filling this because of the titration instructions but my doctor found just last week that they are now providing capsules at the lower doses.

    I read under another TH-cam video that people with gut infections or gut microbiome issues might not respond well to LDN and need to get that checked out first. Did you hear about that? My doctors are inexperienced with LDN. I need to know before starting to take LDN. Thanks in advance 🌸

    • @MelissavsFibromyalgia
      @MelissavsFibromyalgia  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have heard people talking about gut issues and some people suggest avoiding sugar and processed foods to support ldn working. It's always a good idea to fix known gut issues if you can. But naturopathy over here is very expensive and not funded at all so its a costly route for something that isn't supported by research (although I know that not everything I choose to do is!)

      No. I took tramadol once and realised I am essentially allergic, worst night ever. I tried codeine during an injury and after my hysterectomy and I don't tolerate it well so it has never been part of my long term management.

      You could try splitting it into about 16 portions by eye, that’s how I’ve done it. It works out about 2.6ish mg. I got a bit of nausea and insomnia and felt lethargic for first 5 days, been then that went. It was about 3 weeks in I noticed a difference in pain levels. This med’s potentially saved my life. If you have a specialist in a pain clinic, they might be able to administer it to you from there. Or you could try and get on online from a reputable pharmaceutical company.

      Dissolve one 50mg tab in 50lm of distilled water. Then 0.5ml is equal to 0.5mg, 1.0ml is equal to 1.0mg, and so on. Most pharmacies have 1ml syringes for starting very low and as you increase the dose you can use a 3ml syringe. This method makes titration very easy. Just make sure your container and syringe are sterile. The 50lm solution is good for at least 30 days and keep it in the refrigerator.

      @@MelissavsFibromyalgia thanks Melissa. I have an appointment at a pain clinic in a few weeks. I hope I can convince them to prescribe it. I have fibro and myofascial pain syndrome and no pain killer so far did anything. I am on pregabalin for 1.5 years now, it did help some with anxiety but not with pain. Duloxetine, I tried a few times, I cannot go high enough in dose without very bad side effects. Knowing I am medication sensitive, I think I will ask the doctor to start with 0.5 mg LDN also.
