RWBY and RWBY Ice Queendom

So here we have Ruuuuuuuby, a long running series with a whole load of characters with animation resembling a badly done ps1 cutscene and in the other corner we have Wuby Uwu, a remake with anime style animation which goes absolutely bonkers four episodes in. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video.

The animation style reminds me of old CG shows like Reboot, Donkey Kong Country and Transformers: Beastwars.

yeah, pretty much.
I liked og RWBY until the the end of volume 3 (I watched it like 5 times, it was a blast), I give v4 a free pass (because of the irl stuff) and finally drop it at the end of v5 because the bs got insufferable...
Meanwhile I watched anime RWBY until ep 3 and I'm here just wondering how in the fuck the "pros" can do it worse than the "indie" guy in nearly everything... it truly there is no soul in this thing...

Simple actually,
1. The pandemic put dampers on the production causing tons of delays, and production needing to be rushed
2. This isn’t anything new for Shaft. Their whole thing is literally about releasing the unfinished version first before fixing the animation up for the blu ray. Heck, this came out around the same time they were also working on the anime adaptation of Magia Record, another Shaft project that was infamous for poor animation on its initial TV airing before fixing it all for the blu ray release.
3. It’s not a one to one science with anime productions. If an anime isn’t seen as a high priority by the higher ups, then it’ll be outsourced to a foreign studio. Basically, why would Shaft put all of their resources into an anime spin off for something like RWBY when they could be putting all of that time and energy into the fourth Madoka Magica movie, or other more important projects instead?
4. One of the show’s directors, either Toshimasa Suzuki or Kenjirou Okada I can’t remember which, stated he wanted the show to be unlike Shaft’s other anime, basically making it as “non Shaft as possible.” If you know Shaft’s style of direction and animation, then you can probably pick up what made Ice Queendom stand out from that point of view other than Ruby doing the famous Shaft head tilt in one scene.
Basically, you have to understand that, just because these people are professionals, they’re still human. They’re not omnipotent celestial gods that can do no wrong. Everyone grows old, everyone loses a step, and everyone makes mistakes.

Art direction is not the problem, the remake completely disregard the characters' personality. That is what he meant in the vid
