That paper cutter! It was in my grade school in the 60s, in my classroom when I started teaching in 1977, and in the office I worked in for 30 years till retirement. The sound it makes as you lower the handle brings back memories.

Paper cutter is fabulous. Years ago I had one just like it. Loved it. Took it to have the blade sharpened and it was ruined for a straight cut after so be careful with your treasure. Danie, when you burn lots of candles -- like I did last fall -- make sure you change your furnace filter. Wow! I had NO IDEA how much soot burning candles creates. Talk about a black filter! Loved this video and the spaces you journied to!

I stopped to comment in the middle of your haul. You get closer and closer to my personal aesthetic everyday and I'm so here for it. I absolutely loved all the little glass pieces you picked up because even if you put them all on one table all together they'd be so beautiful especially the little turnip vase. But I was stopped by those cute weird little salmon end tables. That's exactly what I've been looking for to replace a lamp I used to have. If you had that side table and then like the biggest Chinese lantern you could find from IKEA? Then a puck light on the inside just for the glowy warmth. That is the lamp I need!
Excited for this make over. I have had my guest room on my "Re Do" schedule for so long, that my style has changed twice since I started planning for it. I love the curated look, and your choices have solidified that idea for my make over. My favorite find you picked up is the 3 candle holder, I NEED that in my home! It's not often I can say this about someone else's purchases but I would buy every one of the things you got. I'm a 72yo granny BTW. Maybe not the two little baskets but that's because I have a heap of similar ones that I've bought over the years. I love small, handmade ceramic vases and I've got quite a few that I've found in second hand shops, but unfortunately not so much these days. Our second hand shops where I live in Queensland don't seem to have much that I want to buy these days. I'm always jealous when I see some of the thrift shops over there. Weird enough when I first saw you with the paper cutter it flooded me with memories and I hope you would buy it. So happy that you did. If you haven't figured it out yet it is the sound the paper makes when you slowly cut it that is so satisfying. I haven't figured out why but it is the same sound that is made when fabric is cut by a rotary cutter. Love you purchases and can't wait to see them all come together.

Omg this has been my life for the past 10 years except in a tropical environment with concrete steel and bricks. I can absolutely relate to feeling overwhelmed by decisions and doing everything manually (there's just no budget for mechanical help or contractors) So I am really looking forward to this Garage content. It's encouraging me to enjoy the process

Thank God you bought the paper cutter. I was so afraid you'd passed it up. I would kill to have one, not just for the job it does, but for all the memories it brings back of elementary school. There are no thrift shops in my area--Chianti, about a half hour outside of Florence-- where there are only antique stores. Antiques as in Renaissance, as in way beyond a budget I could even imagine. Only recently has the Italian mind set turned towards vintage and buying used items, but even Facebook Marketplace overflows with Major Antiques. Plus, I would never buy a Major Antique in Italy because no one is better at making fake antiques than the Italians. They've been doing it since the Middle Ages. I only realized you lived inCanada when I saw you driving on the wrong side of the road.🤣 Your videos are amazing! I'm not exactly a Luddite, but I would need a four year old living with me to understand even the most basic things about technology. 😭 You have definitely found your right path in life. That's a gift. 😘
Tend to lean towards natural elements and handmade pieces because I love the southern/Native American and sorta hippyish style. So this stuff is right up my alley. Looking forward to seeing what you do with your room! Would love to see you add dormer windows and raise the roof. (Yeah I know that’s a expensive one!) Will be waiting and watching though…. Oh and the greenhouse is just dreamy!

You can add wood stain to wicker pieces as well! It gives it that aged dark wicker look ^_^
