He doesnt show it much in these clips, BUT when Vox goes to talk Valentino down, he does start to try and use his hypnosis (probably out of habit and frustration), but Val is unaffected because he is super blind. But when Vox cant get Vals attention, Vox turns up the brightness and Val, a moth man, is mesmerized for a moment, pays attention and calms tf down.
Also, when Valentino rants, you can hear little moth squeaks.

I love that, in this episode, Sir Pentious is visually very confused whenever Charlie touches him and you see the rest of the season, him trying to touch others (Cherry Bomb) as a way of connecting, it's small but i find it so wholesome
Alastor was merciless in his trolling of Vox. Stayed gone slaps something fierce. Sir Pentious is unironically one of the most fun characters in this show
He is derpy in the most loveable way. How quickly he wants to be better when he realizes someone believes he can be. Same for Angel there is just that little complication.

And more.the problem is his contra to Val. He knows he CAN'T be better because of that. It's not that he doesn't want to. In fact he drugs and drinks so much to try and get Val to let him go.

There's literally no one nor nothing stopping him. he just chooses not to. He chose to be there in the 1st place. Thats Canon. And he continues to without any consideration for anyone else. If you remove that song with husk nothing changes.
It's kinda funny that Vox went and did exactly what he told Val not to do. Like, if he'd just ignored Alastor instead of trying to make a spectacle and "prove" how powerful he was, Al would've had to rebuild his listening body from the ground up. Instead, most of Hell probably heard Vox scrabble at controlling the narrative, fail miserably, and are now tuning in to Alastor's radio if only to see what's got Vox so worked up.
I did not realize that until you pointed it out.
That and the fact that in sending Sir Pentious to the hotel to spy backfired and ultimately proved that the hotel works when Pen is redeemed... Vox you might be bad at this 😂

The fact that Vox got destroyed by the person he's dissing on his OWN DISS TRACK is gold. Their rivalry seems so one-sided with Vox absolutely seething just by hearing Alastor's name and Al seeing him as a minor inconvenience.
It took all 3 Vs united to kick Alastor out. As he says, Vox only has control because of his support.

If you read what shows up on the bluescreen it even says the crash was caused by Alastor.exe. Alastor is living rent free in Vox's head and he's literally a virus

And Alastor is an overlord because he started killing other overlords and broadcasting it so his radio show would always remain famous. It shows well in their song how everyone's immediately interested in his return, despite Vox attempts to ridicule him
Angel wasn't getting jealous because someone else was getting praised; like you said, he's an abuse victim who thinks he CAN'T change (which only gets reinforced by Valentino's abuse). He doesn't show it much, but Charlie's faith in him changing means a lot to him- so her excitement over Pentious makes him feel like one of the few people who believed in him may be giving up, and painfully reinforces his belief that he's incapable of change : (
Honestly love how Alastor seemingly intrudes songs just to ultimately roast them.
He only does so with people that actively antagonised him. Vox started to slander him on TV just because Al was walking around town, and Lucifer was completely unaware of who he was, disrespected all his efforts on the hotel and was generally dismissive of his presence. In "Ready for this" he still sings and interjects in Charlie's song but only to help her, because she never disrespects him 💞

Alastor materialized the bar, brought in Huskers and Niffty, Niffty precisely because she's a clean freak that would keep the whole hotel pristine. He defends the hotel from any attack and materializes workers to fix up busted up walls every other episode.

Alastor doesn't need much to be ticked off and he certainly wasn't kind to him afterwards, but Lucifer started it. Also, Al is very protective of Charlie, even if he doesn't really show it, and Lucifer is a distant dead beat that made her doubt herself.

You basically nailed it about Sir Pentious. That's EXACTLY the source of his sinnerhood:
He wanted people to care about him. To think he was worth something. That's it.
Well, Charlie just made it clear she does. Exactly as he is, exactly WHO he is. At exactly the moment when he's used to being beaten up and thrown out and shunned again, she looked him right in the eyes and said 'I think you're worth another chance. I forgive you." And gave him her hand to help him up again.
And that touched his sinful soul exactly the way he needed it to. Knowing, without any doubt, SOMEBODY cares.
Charlie really doesn't know what she's doing. At all. It's kind of a running gag throughout the show. She even acknowledges it openly in the pilot.
But Pentious is EXACTLY the sort of person whose problems she can sort out just by being friends with them and being herself.
Pentious is, indeed, actually on his way to redemption because now that he has Charlie, he doesn't need to be who he used to be anymore. She snipped off his sinfulness at the root.

I love how every song Alastor sings is just a revised version of what was sang earlier and also how all V's represent different aspects of how humanity can be influenced. Vox being cable, news media, Velvette being trendy social media, and Valentino being adult content.

Gotta say I love how everyone (me included) expected the classic misunderstanding trope when Angel & Sir Pentious are fighting....only for Pentious to immediately cave and try to bail XD.
On earth, Alastor was a serial killer and radio host. While hiding a body a hunter mistook him for a deer and shot him. That’s why he has the deer features- antlers, hooves, etc. The X on his forehead is where he was shot. Hope this explains things for you… and whether or not you should trust him 😂

@@m00n_beetle Rewriting that backstory will be pretty difficult, if not impossible. It’s his whole look, but who knows? You can see the X several times when he goes full demon mode, like in Stayed Gone, when the hotel is attacked during ep 5, and when Mimzy is explaining his backstory (probably missed some, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head… no pun intended 😂)

I love how every single person watching (including me) was so sure that Angel would get blamed or not believed for accusing Sir Pentious but the show just moved the plot along and didn't make us suffer through unnecessary miscommunication drama.
Alastor is ironically my favorite character because of how sinister and untrustworthy he is with how he acts sometimes
Pentious was chosen because he looks up to the Vs and craves their acknowledgement, and because his "evil" is not very threatening on his own. He seems fairly harmless and therefore could earn trust quick. Fortunately the Vs overestimated his competence in spying, Pen got caught, but he also got a glipse of hope that he could actually be better and make some friends. And our noodly boy deserves some friends

Stayed Gone is tied with More Than Anything for my favorite song. The way a high tech Overlord, with multiple tv stations spouting that they should ignore Alastor, ended up causing a power outage of the entire Pride ring by 1930’s equipment and a grungy radio station is incredible.

Just gonna point out, Val is holding drugs when he suggests "putting something inside them" as a way to control people, he's also shown earlier on a poster with Velvette advertising a "love potion" and it seems like the show is trying to subtlely point out that Val drugs his sex workers to keep them complacent and even profits off selling similar drugs to the rest of Hell of they can take similar advantage of people
And when Angel is depressed and listening to his messages it isn't like he's hearing Val say one of the standard abusive relationships lies like "I'm the only one who loves you" he's hearing "you're an addict and you always will be" implying that it's the drugs Val forces on him the have their hooks in him the deepest, not Val himself

I see now, they really look like pills, and with the cut aways the orange glue bottle looked liked the standard orange pill bottles, so fair enough i suppose, i don't think that changes the fact he isn't above drugging people to get what he wants from them
Not just that, when the randos go to drug Angel, it's using Vals drug. So even though Angel was nowhere near Val and wasn't checking his phone, Val was still involved in Angel nearly getting date graped.
In case you haven’t seen it, take a look at Vox’s blue screen during ‘Stayed Gone’. It’s not a normal error message.
Fun fact, the actor who plays Sir Pentious is also the actor who plays Adam.
Fun details - Valentino squeaks like an actual moth, he also doesn't practice gun safety (lol, it's Hell why would he), Kitty (his robo servant) is a nod to the Fizzbots from Viv's other show Helluva Boss, and you can clearly see Alastor's mug says 'Oh Deer' , but all the characters have funny mugs! I've watched this show multiple times and I'm still finding new things I've missed!

Well, about you asking if Val tore the model up. Yes, as a sinner you can die and get hurt in hell but you will heal (but it’s a painful process) and if Val tore the model apart, the model probably had to find all her body parts and put them back together and let it heal. The only way to not almost immediately heal is if you get hurt by an angelic blade.
If you watch the background while Velvette is ranting about her model being “torn up”, you’ll see one of the crew walk behind her in the background carrying a mangled corpse…
I'm sure someone is probably already commented this but Alastor was shot in the head by hunters after they mistakes him for a deer. A Sinners appearance in hell often reflects how they died. So hence the antlers and he has hooves for feet. And like in that scene with pentious tearing his coat you can hear an elk call.
Vaggie just staring adoringly at Charlie is absolutely the most precious thing. Get you someone that looks at you the way Vaggie looks at Charlie.

I love how charlie doesn't know what she is doing sometimes. The 'get to know you' game was so cute. Obviously, this doesn't mean she that what the activities she does actually works. In real life, I don't know how to rhyme, so I would hate it. But the excitement she has is everything. It's like when a little kid gives you a bad drawing. It's not about the drawing, it's that they gave it to you.
Sir Pentious really is super theatrical and I love him so much for it. You gonna love the next episodes

We’re about 80% sure she’s safe…
Me just now realizing this, on my 40th or so viewing. The skit that Angel dust does with Sir Pentius frame premarital sex and drugs as inherently sinful. It's like a "Say no to drugs!" thing reminiscent of those very special assemblies we all had to attend back in high school, and the absurdity of seeing that in hell is the joke.
But also, sex and drugs are the mechanisms that Angel uses to cope with his genuinely horrific circumstances. When Charlie congratulations Pentius, "At this rate, you'll be redeemed in no time!", she's basically twisting a knife in Angel. These are things that he can't just stop doing, so does that make him irredeemable? That's probably why those abusive messages from Valentino hit so hard. Particularly, "Addict trash like you doesn't change."

Tho Alastor is 100% a show’s big villain in the future seasons, he is just so cool and entertaining to watch. Sure he is probably the most evil character in this show but I just love him for that. You never know what to expect from him.
People in the hotel are not exempt from extermination. They are trying to get the at least one resident redeemed and sent to heaven before the extermination to prove that exterminations are not necessary to maintain hells population. Sinners can change and get better and be sent back to heaven.

Well, I'm assuming just Sinners though, not all Demons, since part of the deal is that they can't harm Hellborns i.e Lucifer and his family, Goetia Demons, the Sins, Imps, Hellhounds etc. Granted, Charlie clearly isn't that educated much on anywhere but the Pride Ring. I feel like if she wanted to save her friends, she would probably try to find a way to transport them to a different ring, to keep them safe from exterminations.

Alastor is complicated for me.
It can be fun when a predatory mood like him comes over me, but I always suffer a moral defeat because of it in the end (that's why Creepzo exists, although he's more to the side of anima-possession.)
The shadows is not a good experience in general: you hurt other people, humiliate yourself, you're overwhelmed by negative emotion. Loving them is the essence of morality itself, but you necessarily don't like them.
Fortunatly, Alastor isn't literally my shadow and only a reflection of him, so watching him isn't the same as actually being confronted by the shadow. He's more the cool toughguy side of being shadow-possessed; the apect that makes giving in to the shadow enticing, than the immature pissbaby side of being shadow-possessed which is necessarily unpleasant.

Angeldust Soul Contract says Val owns him in the porn studio. Val's pissed that angeldust moved out of the studio, thus reclaiming some of his autonomy and freedom.
Before Val had total control because Angeldust was living and working in the studio and, as such, giving Val total control over Angeldust 24/7 now Angel is only working there, he now has a few hours each day free and away from the abuse.

Yes only angelic weapons permanently kill sinners but, as Vox said to his aide earlier, they know Carmella who deals in angelic weapons… including bullets. So if Valentino wants to shoot someone and he has access to angelic bullets, they are definitely going to die-die. Like the final death as they called it in Disney’s Coco.
