  • We take a closer look at the Diablo Speed demon bits. They look and perform just like the original bosh Dare Devil spade bits. Considering Bosch Corporation now owns Freud accessories and Diablo Brand, it actually makes sense for the Diablo to rebrand the best accessories on the market to be sold at certain retailers, if a better version of the tool cannot simple be possible at the time.
With all the similarities and facts in place, it's simple enough to say the bosch daredevil bits and the Diablo bits are the same tool, just under different brands.
    Diablo Speed Demon bits
DIABLO's SPEEDemon Spade Bit range provides one of the fastest, most effortless hole drilling solutions on the market for fast, clean wood. The high-performance SPEED-TIP design self-feeds for faster hole making when compared to traditional spade bits. An optimized Curved Paddle design enhances the chip evacuation process for more holes per charge. This range is Impact Strong for increased shank stability and durability in cordless and corded impact and drill drivers.
Optimized curved paddle design quickly removes chip build-up for more holes per charge
Impact strong increases shank stability and durability
9-piece set for up to 60% savings
Angled spur cutting edge scores wood for clean holes and reduced blowout
    Bosch Dare devil bits
Bosch Daredevil spade bits deliver the fastest drilling performance possible through wood, up to 10X faster than conventional spade bits. The bit as a full-cone threaded tip that pulls it through the wood, offering best-in-class speed through 2x4s. Ideal for clean-boring a lot of holes through wood fast to run conduit or pipe, these bits deliver a drilling speed and a force performance that sets them apart; these are not bits for counter sinking or Dowling. The spur-and-reamer feature on each Daredevil spade bit clears chips better, for a cleaner hole. The hex shank with power groove reduces bit slippage in the drill and makes it suitable for use with a variety of drill types, including impact drills. Do not use in drill press.
Speed drilling designed to deliver the fastest drilling performance possible through wood for a spade bit, up to 10X faster than conventional spade bits, but with clean hole entry and angled cutting edges for reduced blowout
Contoured paddle design improves speed with faster chip removal
Full-cone design pulls the bit through material
Premium bit material combined with innovation for great performance and life

Probably not as bad as the Lucifer or Satan variants
I like my tools that have biblical significance otherwise I would have no purpose to use anything

I tried this drill bit and was not impressed. I was told by the store where I purchased it that I needed to use in impact drill for this bit. Is that true? The drill that I used was the Dewalt 1/2" drill.

Would be a dick move on Bosch's part, but good business sense... Slap your higher end brand name on a previous set, so you can charge more, don't have to change manufacturing, swap out the multi-color paint job that Bosch goes for, for Diablo's simple RED look. Like taking a Black and Decker bit set and swapping it out with a Craftsman logo. I don't think you could go from Black and Decker to Dewalt, that's too much of a quality leap, maybe Craftsman to Dewalt. MAYBE...

Bosch is to acquire the power tool accessories business of the Freud Group, headquartered in Milan, Italy. With this acquisition, Bosch is adding to its existing range of power tool accessories, especially high-performance Freud miter saw blades, circular saw blades, and router bits. The deal also includes Diablo accessories. As Bosch acquires Freud, the deal should result in some excellent shared technologies for both brands. The companies have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
    FREUD AND DIABLO BACKGROUND
The Freud Group is a global supplier of circular-saw blades, router bits, and cutters for enthusiast woodworkers, professional and industrial users. They produce under both the Freud and Diablo brands. These products are mainly manufactured in four locations around the city of Udine in northeastern Italy. In this area of activity, the company employs some 580 associates worldwide and generated sales of 100 million euros in 2007.
Feedback on the Bosch Acquisition of Freud Accessories
“Freud is an innovative supplier of high-quality circular-saw blades, routers, and cutters for professional users in trade and industry. The company is successful worldwide in these segments, especially in North America. This makes Freud a perfect addition to our business, both technologically and regionally. As we further expand this business, we will build on the experience and extensive know-how of Freud associates and managers,”
Uwe Raschke, member of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH and president of the Power Tools division
“In our opinion, Bosch is the best possible partner for the Freud power tool accessories business, and will help it to continue its development worldwide and in particular in North America. Freud know-how and manufacturing competence will certainly strengthen the current Bosch position in this segment.”
Gino Pozzo, managing director of Freud SpA
Gianpaolo and Gino Pozzo will continue to accompany the development of Freud’s accessories business over the next three years as consultants. The family will be represented on various governing bodies and, together with Bosch, help to shape the company’s future.
    FINAL THOUGHTS
As Bosch acquires Freud, this is the company’s fifth strategic acquisition this year to strengthen its Power Tools division. In January and July 2008, Bosch expanded its measuring-tools business by acquiring the Chinese specialist RoboToolz and the U.S. company CST/berger. A few weeks ago, Bosch also purchased parts of the garden irrigation business of L.R. Nelson Corporation, based in Peoria, USA, strengthening its range of garden irrigation products. In addition, it has acquired the majority shareholding in Sia Abrasives, a Swiss manufacturer of flexible abrasive systems.
With power tools, accessories, garden tools, and measuring technology, the division employs a global workforce of roughly 16,000 associates.
