  • @davidparker2173
    @davidparker2173 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Great New Information. The 3 inch angle grinders seem a little pricey now. The 3 inch would have an advantage with the smaller pieces, and curved cuts, but I think my 4.5 inch could do what I need it to. I see that Diablo makes a continuous rim 10 inch blade that will also dry cut and would automatically give me straight cuts on my miter, but my 4.5 inch could probably do the whole thing just fine. Just score them, and follow the line.

    I bought the Diablo 4 inch blade for my Angle Grinder, made a huge difference to doing tiling, I can do nice straight as well as smooth edges, it's amazing how a single tool can make such a difference. I didn't even know there was a 3 inch version as I only see 4 inch blades or larger at my Hardware store except of course for the Dremel blades, but they are tiny :)

    I've heard cutting through a brick a few times I believe you need to use some water too. the brick dust and water. it makes a slurry that will help to sharpen the blade. By removing some of the metal and exposing more diamonds.

  • @JT-il3fe
    @JT-il3fe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    While it may not require to be cut with water I would suggest you do use water for the cuts. Water creates two hydroxyl groups attached to silicon. As a result, the length of the crack grows by the size of the bond rupture. The water reaction reduces the energy necessary to break the silicon-oxygen bonds, thus the crack grows faster and breaks cleaner. However the experienced tradesmen can get a quite nice break (cut) without water.

    • @melgross
      @melgross ปีที่แล้ว

      Umm, are these saws rated for use with water? I doubt it. I have tile saws specifically meant for wet or dry use. The bearings and other parts are sealed for the purpose. The last thing you want is an abrasive slurry being pulled into the cooling vents or on the bearings.

    I bought the Milwaukee cut off tool and a masonry blade to do some brick repointing grinding work and the cut off tool failed miserably. Not enough power to handle soft mortar. The tool heated up to fast and kept on cutting out and overheating, plus the tool goes through batteries quickly.
    Had to use the good old trusty angle grinder to do the job. However I am going to keep the cut off tool to cut smoke pipe and sheet metal, because it shines doing that job.
    👊🏻👍🏻👍🏻

  • @markmatuszewski3713
    @markmatuszewski3713 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The tool can switch directions, but those diamond blades are all directional. If you look at them they have arrows printed on them showing which way they're supposed to go. Could be your other blade failed from being run the wrong way and knocking off all the diamonds...

    I have had the Ryobi Cutoff tool for quite some time. A few months ago, I purchased the diablo multipurpose cutoff wheels. I am remodeling our kitchen, and will be cutting porcelain tile. Upon watching your review on the Diablo 3 inch Diamond continuous rim cutoff disc, I called searching my local Home Depot stores for this product. There are 5 Home Depot in my area, only two of the locations carried the item. The location that I went had five....I bought three. I can't wait to try it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!! Great find. For cutting steel I found that Kango makes a 3" diamond rim metal cutting blade. Last ages and doesn't have the shrinking problem. A lot of the time I'm cutting out 16mm furring channel so with the stock abrasive discs you can only cut a few before the disc has worn away too much.

      Unless Freud has a plant in Indonesia….. 😂. The Bosch-Diablo stuff is all over the map, especially now with the rebranding expansion. They’ve brought in Scintilla, SIA some US partners and, of,course, a lot of Chinese stuff (owned by Bosch or a manufacturing partner? I don’t know). The biggest selling Diablo saw blades actually say Made in USA on them now. Freud USA in house? Licensed partner? I don’t know. The 3” stuff I’ve seen is from all over the world: Indonesia, China and a “cuts everything” blade from Switzerland. Region locking and marketing are weird. I’ve got six or eight bosch blue italian (freud) saw blades from the UK market and some of them have the same exact designs as the Diablo, but the blue blades are closer to the branded Freud “industrial” (not putting them down, but they ain’t industrial blades) in carbide and plate thickness.

    I’ve also killed 6 Milwaukee hackzalls in two years, but Mill has given me back a brand new one every time. So thanks for that Mill !! Would still like to slap the engineer who designed the hackzall planetary gear shaft for it.

    I bought 3 DIABLO DEMO blades to cut up the the roof of a 30x40 building which had multiple layers of roofing on it into pieces I could handle easily. It only took one to get the job done. I also used it to cross cut most of the lumber to fit in my wood stove.
    BUT after I used it to open the ridge on my house wider for the vent, two cuts 59' two layers of architectural shingles,well I'm afraid that done it in.I'm on blade two now. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND DIABLO BLADES!!!

    Well... I can't start to tell you how much I hate tool reviews. Some of them think we have as much money as they do or sponsored like they are or daddy helps ya.
    But I was just thinking of a new blade a couple days ago and this popped up.
    Glad I did cause first you made me smile... then giggle... then the big laugh. Thank you. Made my day and I learned something to. By the way... you cut straighter than most carpenters I have seen with a straight edge!
    New sub and looking forward to see more vids. Thanks!!

    I’ve had success making circles in porcelain tile with 4,1/2” blades with a regular size angle grinder. This 3 incher looks like it’s a serious upgrade to my technique.

    Great tip, thanks! Home Depot online only seems to have the 4” and larger sizes, so I’ll go by the store but it looks like I’ll have to buy somewhere else. Right now I only have an air cut-off tool, but have your Milwaukee M12 on my wish list.

    Put that dust shroud and a vac on the saw for a 90% dust-free cut indoors. Also, I feel the cut off tool is underpowered with the 2ah batteries but packs a better punch with the 6ah

    no tile work needed here but they make some wicked reciprocating saw blades for metal. think i have a diablo blade on my skill saw as well and it's pretty decent for screwing around in the back yard.

    Nice! Should fit to my Bosch GWS 12V-76 too. Another point to justify the investment (the GWS) before my wife.
    Just can't find a source to order it in Germany and don't have tiles to cut.

    back when Makita had the 9 volt they had a 3" cut off saw that was great for tile they had a corded model as well as the cordless one and they had a water bottle attachment for it was the cats ass for tiles the continues rim ones are worth the money

    I love this cutoff tool too! I actually just used it with the plastic cutting wheel that it comes with to install 600 ft of lvp. Worked awesome! The only thing I don’t like about this tool is I have a hell of a time getting the batteries off of it.

      May I ask why you didn't just score and snap?

    • @ToolReviewZone
      @ToolReviewZone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah bro, mine gets snagged too sometimes 👊

    • @Michael_78
      @Michael_78 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevinm.6855 For my end cuts I use my Crain wood cutter. If you don’t know what it is it’s basically a blade that presses down on the material with such force it snaps it. It’s an amazing tool if you do a lot of floors which I do for a living. But for length rips you can’t always score and snap those. It worked for those really small rips that you can’t quite score and snap and it also works really good for cutting around walls and other things. Using a jigsaw also works for those things but LVP really destroys those jigsaw blades. So really the only reasons I used it was to see how well it would work for this application and because I was installing on a second story today and didn’t feel like lugging up my tablesaw to the second floor lol.
