    Fantastic and practical tips to improve our boxing. I like the advice on throwing the right hook & overhand. The overhand is so dangerous. So many knockouts seem to occur from overhand rights & head kicks recently.

    Moving your head off the center line while punching CAN BE a really bad idea against SOME mauy thai fighters who spam body and head kicks while exchanging. Pick and choose based off of your partners/opponents style

    How to not "head movement" into a shot, I've done it a few times and those shots are the heaviest and hardest even during light sparring. I know its just luck sometimes, but anyway to reduce the chances of that?

    • @burt2800
      @burt2800 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One thing is to make it unpredictable, slip to either side after punches, not just the logical one. Maybe also think about likely counters to the shots you throw and use according head movement instead of the head movement that would lead you into a likely counter. Also, since you evade any straight punch with lateral head movement, I suppose your issues come at hook range. Maybe try using slight fade backs at that range instead of slips. But yeah, it's bound to happen a lot, we're not all Mike Tysons.

    Awesome stuff on thia channel. I am a boxer and the gym i train at is a kickboxing/boxing gym. I aggree with everything mentioned. I want to add that when throwing the double jab or any jab and say the opponent throws something on that side while the lead hand is extended i find success in useing my rear hand perry, i cross my hand over to the side im jabbing from to cover that part of my head/face (the shoulder should still be covering the chin)
    Also i notice ill see a mt fighter/kickboxer throw a 1-2 then throw the low kick from where they are standing it makes sense to have range for the kick, but when a boxer throws the 1-2-3 the boxer steps with the jab then drags the rear foot slightly while throwing the cross/rear hand and the feet are set then with the hook you should be already in possition from throwing rear hand intoa slipped possition on the lead side and the lead hook should be in perfect possition to blast from there. But the difference is the kickboxer/mt fighter will step with the jab but not drag/slide the rear foot forward with the rear hand/cross because if they choose to kick he will be too close range. That is somethimg i noticed. So depending weather you want to throw a 1-2 and end with a kick or with a hook you can use the technique that it calls for.
    This is just my 2 cents as a boxer that trains along side with mt fighters/kickboxers. I hope i make sense. Thank you and God bless you all

  • @dirtpoorchris

    I have REALLY fast punches (but I dont use gloves). If someone is faster than me (like a methhead that I fought) then what I try to do is win the PUNCH-CLASH. I wait for them to throw then crash my forarms into where their punch is going to be and aim my wrist at their face and AS SOON as my forearm bumps their punch out of the way I just continue my momentum forward and punch them in the face. You have to wait for them to commit and put up a fence and punch them at the same time. Or hope your kicks are better than them to slow their punches down.
    Of course slipping works great if you have nice gorilla hook counter shots but if someone is routinely faster than you they will centipede style you eventually (100 hands per second is the joke)

    I'm a Muay Thai brown belt, recently I was sparring a black belt and I landed a triple jab combo. I stepped outside of his lead leg so I created a small angle on him as he was coming in so his weight was forward so it took him longer to react and move away from my range.

    How can a kickboxer or MMA fighter adapt any kind of boxing skill ???? the basis to boxing is footwork ,balance and stance your stance is completly different ,just that alone changes everything

    • @letsgetit90
      @letsgetit90 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So you're telling me that Kickboxing and MMA can't add boxing skills? Why does kickboxing have boxing in the name? What does MMA stand for? Part of striking includes punching, and that's why boxing is useful. Kickboxing has boxing incorporated into the style.

    • @paakak
      @paakak 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@letsgetit90 You can adapt something similar but its not really boxing its your version of adapted boxing . It seems that mma and kickboxers get offended when this is pointed out .The main basis to boxing is stance and balance that has built in defence and foot work , both mma and kickboxing change that stance which changes everything . Thier adapted version of boxing is cool it works for them but its far from boxing .
