Do you want to incorporate password protection for your Tableau Public Dashboards?
Using a parameter and a random string generator, you can! While not totally comprehensive, it's a great element to incorporate into your dashboards if you want to keep them somewhat secure without investing in the Tableau Cloud services for a wide viewer base.
    Our dashboard will need:
    •A Parameter
    •A Random String Generator
    •A Calculated Field
With those simple elements, we're able to incorporate some functional security into our dashboard! Check out this video for the full rundown.

Thanks a lot for your video! Do you know if there's a way to apply it to different dashboards posted on a story and just input the password once so that it shows all the dashboards?
Tried to publish it like this and you need to input the password on every tab of the story and when you switch tabs it gets deleted and you need to input it again.

Hey! Thanks for the message. I would think that the issue here is that stories function differently to dashboards. Each tab of the story is essentially a new view or a standalone entity. I am not aware of a viable alternative for stories using this method I’m afraid!

You don't mention the possibility that someone could download the workbook and simply remove the filter?

Hi Wendy! I'm not sure if it's mentioned here, but check out our video from a couple weeks ago about publishing a private dashboard to Tableau Public including restricting users' ability to download the workbook or data: th-cam.com/video/SP2-Tz1zcm4/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=OneNumber-TableauExperts
