Absolutely chilling how The Stepford Wives still hits hard today.

Awww I'm sorry to hear you didn't like Penance! I really liked it - yeah there were some less interesting bits, but I overall found it to be a page turner and really interesting! Different strokes for different folks I guess :) I read The Rules of Attraction AGES ago, maybe I should revisit it! My favourite book from August was either Grown Ups by Marian Keyes (very different pick for me but just what I needed I guess), OR Monsters: A Fan's Dilemma by Claire Dederer which was a good thinky one!

I’m glad you liked it! Like I said so many of my friends liked it and then a few of us were like 🤬 hahah but if we all liked the same things the world would be boring. Re-reading Bret is always a great idea though!

My favorite book in August was I who have never known men (as you might have picked up in the liveshow)! But I also really enjoyed Chelsea Devantez's memoir titled I shouldn't be telling you this (but I'm going to anyway)

    Hey Meg,
If a book is really bad, do you know what you can do?
Add some cornstarch to thicken the plot!!!
    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've read a scifi novel.... from time to time the author asked his friends and acquaintances about how the story should go.... and then he wrote the exact opposite of what people expected

I must read The Night Guest. Like you, I do too suffer from Chronic Pain/Illnesses and I am misunderstood/dismissed by, non just people, but also the medical industry constantly.
I am almost done with Acts of Desperation because of your recommendation and wow. I am really enjoying it.

enjoyed white even if Bret is a little delusional because he's kind of in his own sphere. (rich enough to not deal with normal problems) his podcast is worth a listen even if its behind paywall...
him basically calling kanye genius and then outside of the book saying the left was more violent than the right
is one of the funniest parts of his personality (this was before Jan 6.) He is right about America's censorship
and knee jerk reactions to placate a lot of liberal feelings, but he's full of sh!t to not note the right is as rotten as the left is because he conveniently looks the other way on their flaws, but then again that's my sh!t opinion

I have some hot takes that I don’t expose much online but to summarize them- I hate everyone equally 😂
I agree with a majority of what he says but then sometimes I’m like ???? Huh ????
