I'm so excited that you will be reading Kafka. I did my Master's dissertation about his (incomplete) novel 'America' (working title: Der Verschollene, The Missing). - I love him as a person so much - he was nowhere near as miserable as people perceive him. He had a close connection with his sister Ottla who ran an organic farm. Kafka was a vegetarian; as an insurance officer, he was very aware of the situation for factory workers, something that is very unique for authors at the beginning of the 20th century. He was such a special and kind human being. I get very excited when I can talk about Kafka. ☺
Just a little safety tip - having your tapers be loose in the candlestick is a pretty big fire hazard. I was taught always to melt a little drop of wax on the bottom of the taper and use that to fasten it to the candlestick. If it’s very loose, you can also wrap a little bit of tinfoil around the base of the candle so it sits tighter in the candlestick!
Ruby is the reason I am so motivated to do work as a high school student living in the US!! Thank you so much Ruby, god bless you and keep up the great work!!
I always look forward to your autumn videos. In the Deep South in the USA we don’t have autumn weather until late October and it’s such a relief from our long, hot humid weather. The crisp air and the soothing colors are like a reward for enduring the blistering heat. Your crafting ideas were too clever.
Tip I learnt recently about baking, sifting the flour isn't just about making sure there are no lumps; when measuring in cups the unsifted flour is denser so you end up adding too much! Always sift the flour if the recipe uses cups, makes cakes and bread so much lighter! 😊
I love early December, because it's not Christmas yet, even though I love Christmas, but it's just getting there, and it's Christmassy if you know what I mean, but no ones running around trying to get everything ready for Christmas, their all just starting to ask what people want and there's so many Christmas things in shops and I just love it! And I love your videos, Ruby because they are so organised and relaxing x
Brown, burnt orange, hunter green, and mustard yellow are autumn colors. Autumn in the American south usually does not come until late October and is usually around 30°C and is the peak of white tailed deer and mourning dove hunting seasons. When I was little, I would join my uncles, sometimes late at night in wooded hills and pastures as they carried Winchesters, Remingtons, and Mossbergs. We would cook baked beans and sausages with molasses and bourbon in cast iron utensils over dried manure and mesquite fires and share stories and discuss various topics as coyotes howled in the distance while we drank coffee from blue enameled percolators.
I love your videos. They bring renewed joy, curiosity and wonder back into my sometimes dreary and dull days. Your optimism and enthusiasm is just so catching. Love it. I celebrate you Ruby ❤
This time of year always has me reaching for Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre. Listening to your description of autumn as magical made me really want to read both right now, right this second! 😂
Althea. Yes! I do too. I like to watch the film Charade too with Audrey Hapburn and Cary Grant. Some of the scenes are in the Tivoli gardens in Paris? It's the autumn, and the fallen leaves and autumn trees are very atmospheric.
@Aletheahthomas I hope you will enjoy it. There are some funny parts, though it has suspense too. I first watched it at home with my grandparents and mum, and I hadnt long started high school, so that's another link with autumn too! I've got to say I'm in my 60s now, so it's a film that has stayed with me through life.
The piano in this video is attune with the video. Good choice. You video is magical, as ever. Don't forget the smell of rain. Loved your warm pumpkin milk, the epitome of comfort and oaken evenings.
As Italian having lived, stidied and worked in Cambridge for some years, I do really miss the Autumn vibe, but I`ll ricreate It at home starting with some decoration and naturally some interesting apt reading ! Autumn is such a delicate season.. ❤
Wonderful fall vlog! 🍁😊🍂 I loved all of your book suggestions as well as your crafting, baking, decor, and outfits!! What a fun way to welcome autumn!! 🍂📚🍁
Book recommendation! I’ve heard it’s apparently considered a classic and a lot of people had to read it in school so you might have read it already but I only discovered it a couple years ago on accident (picked a random cheep book to buy as to not look rude) and it’s become one of my favorite and most read books. It’s called A Separate Peace by John Knowles. Set in a boys boarding school in New England right at the beginning of WWII. It follows 2 friends in junior year and their rocky relationship as the war is beginning and watching their senior friends be sent off to war or drafted and that same future looming over them. Wonderfully written and I get more and more out of it each time I read it.
Thank you so much for these videos, they're really helping prepare me for starting my SLT masters in January and I really appreciate all your work and effort ❤
Autumn is my favorite season and your videos represent these beautiful autumn vibes wonderfully. I haven’t read many Stephen King books because most of them I kinda disliked, but I’ve read Misery many years ago and that one I really liked!
Fun update Ruby, thanks. I think you'll like "Misery". The vibe is not really horror, more like desperation and suspense. Your single side braid is cool BTW, very festive.
I love how you do your poems, Ruby I love how you integrate your poems to your videos absolutely stunning. I can write a poem here and there, but you and your poems are something else. I love it.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I can't wait for the day you release a novel, I love the poetic way you speak. You could release anything and I would buy it. Also please make sure you voice it in your audio books yourself or if you ever voice any audio books please let us know because your voice just makes it sound that much better! ❤
i am always so envious of british autumns. i live in oregon, usa, and while it's nice and rainy where i live, it feels like fall arrives later and later each year now. thank you for the autumn videos, ruby! ❤
Actually, it's the same in the UK and vast parts of Europe. When I was a child, autumn would arrive early September, now the only thing that arrives at that time is all the autumn decor and pumpkins. Leaves turn orange about a month later, I'd say, and September can still be quite hot! :/
I wish it would arrive later. I’m cold already, and no one can afford heating again this year because the stupid government is plotting to steal all our money. I hate being cold.
I actually love ruby. I never get bored seeing you. You're so calm and soothing. so inspiring and excellent ruby. You are doing good and your amazing Take love
Love your videos and the fun and intelligent projects you share. You present with so much style and good energy. I don’t usually comment but this is for all the times I don’t: thank you - you are appreciated! ❤
Hi, Ruby, loved your video! ❤very inspiring, it made me adore autumn even more... I'll definitely try out all of your DIY ideas from this video, especially the pumpkin muffin recipe, I usually use an ice cream scooper to distribute the batter into the muffin forms. Can't wait to try it out🎉 greetings from Germany 😊
Happy autumn 🧡 Highly, highly recommend A Discovery of Witches! I read it at the start of the year, but it definitely feels more like an autumnal book. The trilogy is brilliant and so is the TV show!
Ruby would you consider also changing the curtains in your room? For me having light colors in the summer makes my room feel cooler and dark color in winter makes my room seem warmer. There's also an option to change with seasons. Since you know how to sew I think that you should go to a fabric store and select the fabric, making them yourself will be a great memory you will enjoy when that particular season comes back around. Just an idea! 👍💛
Was this uploaded yesterday and then unlisted cuz i think i saw this yesterday too but when i went to see what she posted it had disappeared :/ Glad to see another new vid, looking forward to see more
I watched your video and felt autumn. You were able to give me such a delicate, precious feeling. Autumn is truly the season to live, to feel. I eagerly await your new videos. I am sending you a big hug with love❤️🫂
I watched this while eating some pumpkin spice oatmeal surrounded by my autumn decor. ☺️ This was a lovely video and I’m so intrigued by the synopsis of Gallant, it’s moving to the top of my list!

I've been following you on TH-cam since 2018 and somehow it's the first time that I order a Pumpkin Productivity product. Now I'm ready for my PhD, which starts in October 😊 🌰🍄🟫 I wish you all the best for this new academic year ✨
Hello Ruby! I’ve been watching your channel since I was 16 and now I’m graduating uni this year and my major is also literature :) You inspired me to study hard when I thought I was a failure just because I couldn’t do mathematics. Yesterday I had a dream where I visited you in London, and I invited you to Istanbul. So I wanted to invite you when I woke up loll if you ever want to travel to İstanbul (and I think you should) I’d be very happy to host you. Have a happy autumn 🍂❣️

Rubyyy! A really good horror book is Silent Companion by Laura Purcell. It actually structures its sentences so well that it gives you jumpscares. The only book that ever got me a little spooked. It's also very atmospheric because it takes place in the Yorkshire moors, so it evokes a lot of isolation and eerieness to the story.
Love the outfits! I stopped watching The Discovery of Witches at the end of season one. I have been told by several people to read the book first and then the show.
@emily0306ann Yes, none of those adjectives are synonymous with sinister. Kafka's writing is unpleasant and evokes feelings of hopelessness but it's not sinister. Thanks for your comment, I was just about to comment about Amerika/der Verschollene as well 😂
I’m a huge Kafka fan as well, so your comment was lovely to read! :-)
If you can make it to Oxford, UK. In the Weston library is a free exhibition on Kafka. I visited it yesterday and enjoyed it thoroughly.
I love Kafka! Especially his letters to Milena. I highly recommend them.
We studied Kafka in Performing Arts at A-Level and I fell in love with The Trial 🖤

She does that when she lights them, she's just keeping them there

I've been waiting for a new autumn vlog. Ruby, I got so much motivation for reading and writing, watching your videos🤎
