    Fascinating! I am stage 4 pancreatic cancer survivor and recently have been including a lot of bitter foods in my diet. Aim was to increase my stomach acid but whole taste immunity axis is new and brilliant to learn about. I have a youtube channel She Dares Live which has tracked my journey sinxe diagnosis if anyone interested in watching. I watched this video as youtube I've had a lot of viewers who found me after watching this. What a brilliant oncologist - so opened minded. I loved the comment about the smell of patients - I meet lots of stage 4 folks now and I can't be around some of them sometimes because of that smell. Definitely a real thing x

    There is a lot of truth in the involvement of bitter taste I think. I have a strong sense of smell and taste. I tell people that I can smell cigarette smoke from a mile away. I got sick and recovered within three days. My husband got sick after me and tested positive for COVID. It took him almost 2 months to recover and he was sick as a dog during. He cannot smell anything or taste. These are exciting times with advancements in science and technology in leaps and bounds.

      Take 500 mgs each of olive leaf extract, lysine, C with bioflavonoids, and quercetin. I treat my 64 year old (double vaxxed and boosted) daughter's long covid with this. I am 87, with several co- morbidities and sailed through the pandemic, unvaxxed (NOT an antivaxxer, just this one - after being nearly killed by the H1N1 vax) Started taking this guaranteed anti-shingles combo in 2017 and been infection free ever since. Do NOT take olive leaf extract (this combo's lynchpin) if you have low blood pressure as olive leaf extract will drop it further. My daughter's long covid is marked by a sudden inability to breathe and my supplement combo brings her instant relief. Good luck and great health to you!💖.@@no_country_for_real_men

You might try NAC in its place (only because I know folks who sailed through COVID unvaxxed and that was their mainstay). Thiamine deficiency may well be a factor in CV & Long C. It is not only lacking in the food, especially the refined & processed wheat & sugar-laden ‘Carbage’. Thiamine, like all the B vitamins either directly or indirectly is hugely involved in Nervous System functioning & support.
      So many of the CV symptoms have their roots in the Nervous System including Anosmia, Neuropathies, Ataxias, gait issues, digestive functions, etc. Thiamine is also crucial for energy (ATP) production so a deficiency can result in fatigue. Thiamine & B12 deficiencies are common drivers of nervous system, digestive & fatigue issues.

    Long ago, I told my husband that based on “symptoms” I was a supertaster. He found this mildly annoying and preferred to see me as picky. I come home one evening and he shows me two strips he bought on Amazon. This was going to be tested. He took one of them and had zero reaction. I took the other and had to run to the tap to get rid of the taste.
    I’m going to have to live to 100, aren’t I…

    This was a very interesting YT video that got me thinking about taste and how it interacts with immunity. I am now wondering if the bitter taste of zinc lozenges and the old homeopathic treatments of lemon and honey have their usefulness in dealing with shortening the duration of upper respiratory infections due to the biterness of the zinc lozenge and the lemon juice. Another homeopathic treatment is the apple cider vinegar/ lemon juice/ garlic tonic that is touted as an immunity booster. Thanks for having this interview and...Let the good times roll.....I noted the fleur de lis in the video.

    So - my mother who claimed to be able to smell something from a kilometre away got colds every year. My dad couldn’t smell or taste anything according to my mother but never got colds. He did, however, get Parkinson’s disease which appears to be related to gut bacteria. He had constant heartburn as a younger man so was always swigging on Mylanta - more connections?

    • @jaycarver4886
      @jaycarver4886 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The mylanta was probably destroying his good gut microbiota. Heartburn/acid reflux is actually an indication of "low" stomach acid. It happens as people age and can be easily fixed by ingesting apple cider vinegar. Most maladies have an inexpensive, natural remedy.

    Fascinating concepts. Hubby had squamous cell cancer in his right sinus. He underwent a radical neck which resulted in his losing his sense of smell & taste. prior to that, he drank many cups of black coffee a day & liked bitter/hot foods. Fast forward, he never had covid despite being with me through 2 severe episodes. He recently was diagnosed with stage 4 NSCLC. I'm wondering if this second cancer had anything to do with his loss of taste/smell & the effectiveness of his receptors?

    After watching your video, I want to share an accidental observation that I think CHILLED drinking WATER also stimulates the taste/smell T1/2R receptors you refer in a positive immune & lessen autoimmune way.
    I was surprised to get my sense of smell & taste back IMMEDIATELY after I tested for Covid when I decided to use CHILLED saline water
    (cause my grandma accidentally put the bottle in the fridge) in a nasal sling to clear mucous. I also gargled the chilled saline water.
    IS it COINCIDENCE that you guys mention lidocaine “numbs” and cold/cool temp also has a similar receptor effect but using a different mechanism?
    By the way I was fatigued only 24h after I tested for Covid but felt 75% better after I slept by next morning. My whole life I hardly ever get sick, (flu or otherwise) -never had a flu-shot/mrna shot either, but I do outdoor under the sun calisthenics I try to live a healthy lifestyle by eating a balanced organic veggie& fruit /grass fed meat diet.

    Update. Just checked our DNA raw data and we are both homozygous for the gene. My husband is very sensitive to bitter foods. While I find them far more palatable, I eat a lot of them for their health benefits. He’s never had Covid or any of the vaccines. I am, however, far more sensitive to smells than he is - so much that it’s frustrating. My appreciation for tannic wines and bitter vegetables has come with age. They are still bitter, but I enjoy them. I love desserts but do not like sweet wine anymore.
