  • In this video, I show you how to get started with 1Password.
    Get a 14-day free trial of 1Password for Business: minorco.com/aw-1password
    1Password is a password manager that remembers all your passwords, software licenses, secure notes, credit cards and other private information. It makes logging into your internet accounts quick and secure.
    If you use the same (or similar) passwords for all your accounts, your digital security is compromised. 1Password lets you create a strong, unique password for each account.

      The good thing with 1Password is all the data is encrypted. And to decrypt, you need your 1P and secret key. So not even 1P themselves have access to your data.

    • @wheelie642

      @@minor-co So if I am correct, they do not provide a “ forgot password” feature? I have a master idea. Instead of having to worry about losing your master because there is no feature for a lost password. Why don’t they use customizable 3 security questions for lost password. For example you write your own security question. Example. What was the name of the girl your 1st girlfriend was jealous of? Or What was the name of the coworker that owed you money but only paid you half of it back? These are examples of question NOBODY can guess. I don’t use this software so I don’t know if they do or don’t offer password recovery. If they don’t .. they should!

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question - This won't help you login in to your Mac so you do need to remember that one (and I recommend making it different to your 1Password). Unfortunately reCAPTCHAs like 'click the traffic lights' still need to be filled in manually.

    I would like to use 1Password Family plan. I want to use it on my Android phone and Windows corporate laptop. My wife will use it on iPhone and Mac. I can install 1Password app and browser extension on my phone, but I cannot install them on my corporate laptop due to my company restrictions. Thus I have the following questions:
    1) Will I be still able to use 1Password on my corporate laptop?
    2) Will I be able to automatically sync the corporate laptop with my phone and other devices (my wife's)?
    3) What will be the main drawbacks using 1Password on my corporate laptop without app and extension?

    • @minor-co

      Hi Marcin,
      1) Possibly, if you can login to your 1Password account via the web, you could then access everything.
      2) Not if you haven't downloaded the app, but again if you access it via the web I think this would be a good workaround for you.
      3) It'll be a bit clunkier when you need to access login information and login. The extension makes it very quick and easy to fill in login information.

    Great tutorial thank you. I was wondering the set up for Apps is the same as the setup for Internet logins. I have a lot of apps on my ipad that take me directly to the login page and actually save my username so I just have to enter a password and the two step auth code. Since there is no URL for that Pp, how do I set it up in 1password to take advantage of all the good stuff you just explained. Thanks

    Good explanation for someone who has just a few passwords. I have almost 200. Can you explain to folks like me how to ADOPT 1Password when you have 200 passwords and are adopting 1Password to begin making your whole PW system more secure than a list so 200 IDs and PWs.

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tom, I'm afraid there's no easy solution here. You would need to save each one one-by-one. I had a similar challenge when getting started. I simply made it a habit whenever I logged into an account to make sure I saved the login and changed it to a more secure password if needed. This way you can gradually update all passwords over time.

I’m trying to set up our desktop so that we can both use the app when we’d like to login, but I can’t seem to find a way to add her to it so that she can just use the app to access her account if she wants. Does she have to use a browser on the desktop every time she wants to access her passwords? Thanks.

      @minor-co  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bradley, on your computer, are you using one shared login, or do you each have separate logins? I believe if you have separate logins that you'll be able to each access your own 1P account.

    In your demo you use a random birthday, is that what you recommend (won't that make account recovery later impossible in case that's needed), or did you do that just because you were doing the demo and didn't want to show your real birthday?
    Also, if you change your master password, I assume it generates a new sequence of characters/numbers and you'll get an updated emergency kit?

    • @minor-co

      Correct, just a demo.

    It seems that 1password for a PC is different from IOS or is it that 1password 8 is different from 1Password 7 as far as some things you discussed such as "Preferences" or the Mini view. Will you be doing a video that deals with 1Password 8?

    I'm beginning to understand how 1Password works. You have to give it your current ID and PW before you can allow it to generate a new complex, secure PW that it can provide for each site. I've got a lot of work to do to configure 1P to do it's magic for me.

    Hi Paul,
    This is a great tutorial and I found it very helpful. I linked several accounts to 1Password. However, I'm now trying to create a new PW generated by 1Password on one of my existing investment accounts, and the 1Password icon doesn't appear in the username, in the existing PW field, or in the new PW field. I had already entered my username and existing PW and the website address in my vault in 1Password.
    And now when I go to two bank websites that I had already linked to 1Password a couple of weeks ago, I'm not getting the 1Password icon prompt (the encircled keyhole symbol) to enter the PWs I had saved. Argh. Can you help please?

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hm, that's odd. Normally the 1P logo appears anywhere that it detects a username/password field. It could be an issue with your browser or the extension. Maybe try deleting the extension and installing again. If that doesn't help, I'd recommend reaching out to the 1P team for support.

      To access 1P on any new device, you need your secret key and your master password. As long as you have these two things, you can access your account from anywhere. But I would also caution you about adding your 1P account to someone else's device. This wouldn't be great for your personal security.

    How do I generate the (necessarily secure and therefore unmemorable) master password? I am going to be really scared that I will forget the master password. Is there a 1password server, which if it goes down means that I cannot access anything? If the master password is written on the emergency kit sheet and this is stolen from, there could be total disaster, so that's not possible unless every copy is stored in a strong safe (not one of the ones where the instructions to open them are available on the internet).

      I wouldn't recommend this. Firstly, it would be more difficult to update your photo/piece of paper when you update your passwords. 1P also supports 2-factor authentication which really speeds up login. External drives can fail over time and you wouldn't want to lose your passwords due to a hardware issue.
