With the recent news that WB is now deciding to 10 year plan for the DCEU, I though it would be cool to write my own version of the DCEU. I did three Phases but I am only giving the first phase and I changed the name of the universe from DC Extended Universe (DCEU) to DC Movie Universe (DCMU). The first movie is Superman and it’s going to be an origin movie. It would explore Clark both as a human at heart and an alien in physiology. We’ll see him build his morals and what it means to be a hero. The second movie is Wonder Woman Goddess of War. War style movie like Hacksaw Ridge or Dunkirk WWGOW would explore Diana integration into modern society. It would also explore the questions of is mankind good or bad and what is necessary evil. This would play a part in my version of Diana being a God Slayer. The third movie is Batman Arkham Asylum. Psychological Thriller, similar to the game but the big bad is Dr Hugo Strange. Using the villains taking the island hostage, Strange uses it as an opportunity to preform a psych evaluation on Bruce Wayne and Batman. The fourth movie would be Green Lanterns. Buddy Cop style movie, think like lethal weapon meets star wars, we’ll see Hal Jordan and John Stewart team up and recapture Sinestro after breaking out of Sciencell. The final movie of the phase is Justice League of America. A team up movie, all the heroes from the first phase will have to work together to stop Brainiac from collecting the last kryptonian alive in the galaxy. The Flash is introduced in this movie who is the equivalent of a friendly neighborhood hero being thrust into a situation bigger than a cat stuck in a tree. But yeah that would basically be my version of DC universe in its first phase.
I'd kill for a good live action Batman Beyond. I hope WB can get their stuff together. They have such great IP's and I just want them to shine again. Especially Superman.
This is literally my dream film. I’ve had the concepts for it in my head since I was a kid and watched the show for the first time and the fact that we still don’t have a live action adaptation in 2022 is crazy to me but it gives me hope I’ll be the one to make it one day lol.
I’ve always thought it’d be cool if each dc movie fit into its own style, a brooding Batman film, an inspirational Superman film, a campy Shazam film etc. Then when they have crossover films they can be a meshing of genres and style, creating stories that feel completely new, with each superhero having their own characterizations that contrast with each other to make something truly unique.
This would be an ideal DC Cinematic Universe to be honest. Each film has their own style and tone to suit the character each film is about and blend them all together when they come together in team centric movies.
Exactly. I think the MCU-esque quippyness with no variation between each character needs to be dropped. Hell, look at how characters in the DCAMU work together
I don't get why everyone seems so obsessed with tonal consistency for a connected universe. Let Batman have dark noir-detectice type stories, let Superman be uplifting and more slice-of-life. Let Green Lantern stories be sci-fi cop movies etc These movies can all be set in the same universe without all feeling tonally and thematically consistent y'know.
@@theamazingmikelee9857 True. I'm so over the MCU. It is dead to me. At this point I no longer care about the movies they make. They have become so corny and predictable.
@@theamazingmikelee9857 "killed the MCU"? After Wakanda Forever drops Marvel will have made over $4 billion this year alone. I don't think you know what you're saying.
@@kevrokka.d.9749 I meant the boring vapidness of Disney-MCU is what ended or "killed" my interest in the universe. Regarding the monetary success of the MCU, well, that doesn't necessarily equate to quality storytelling.
I also want to see more of Pattinson's BATMAN but somehow I don't want to see a bat-family in this because I want bruce to be the solo character in that universe because this BATMAN is very young so I don't see him become a father figure for a robin. This BATMAN is not able to handle himself yet so bearing the responsibly of a teenager would be very difficult and i think it would not fit the character well.
@@manlikemars2929 end the trilogy with batman getting Robin, and then make a Robin trilogy, and make battinson the side character in the first 2. Then robin dies at the end of the second trilogy, 3rd movie. Then battinson comes back, and he's the main character for the first of the 3rd trilogy of movies, and fights the red hood, but mainly joker, maybe Robin/red hood kills the joker in the end. Then at the end, introduce Terry McGinnis batman, or batman beyond, and he gets 2 more of his own movies. That's a maybe 9 movie plan, for Robin, red hood nightwing, AND batman beyond.
@@dipenchavda6988 they could age him up like in the next movie Pattinson is late 20s early 30s and in my opinion they should shoehorn in Jason Todd it would set up an interesting third movie and would give reeves a plethora of methods to make his second movie around Todd being brought in by Pattinson and hopefully dying if he want to make it a 5hr long he movie and resolve the death he could but I would rather see it resolve in the third movie resulting in the red hood
The "Use your other characters" part was one of the most beautiful and sincere pieces of advices I have ever seen and heard. Good for you, HiTop Films, good for you. May your fan film, Jason, succeed.
Superman got me through a lot, and I mean a Lot of dark days growing up as a kid. Abusive father, a mother too scared to leave him, but one thing that kept me sane, the one thing that kept me going was watching reruns of Smallville and the hope that that show brought 13 year old me. A show that showed me what it's like to Aspire to be better, to Aspire to do the right thing, a show that gave me the courage to stand in front of my abusive father as he's about to go at my mom again and say No More. I don't mean to make this sappy or tug at heartstrings, I can only try and convey what the Man of Steel means to me as a character and what he means to millions more, That feeling of hope for a better tomorrow does actually exist, it's fleeting and it comes and goes but I swear it exists. Hope survives, Hope always finds a way. So please, Make a Superman movie.
i can relate to you. in my case, its dick grayson. the way he's so full of light and hopeful inspiration unlike his mentor bruce wayne, dick grayson is a character that stays true no matter what. dick grayson inspires me to chase my dreams become my best and attract love and happiness and to always remain optimistic in some of the worst cases in life. its that faith that comes with it too. its that hopeful view in life that keeps you going
Superman has so much unused potential. He has so many cool villains like Brainiac, Metallo and Parasite, who have never been used in a movie before. I don’t think people appreciate how great Superman: The Animated Series was. Those villains were all handled so well. In fact, that show’s version of Metallo voiced by Malcolm McDowell is my favorite incarnation of the character. I specifically remember seeing the episode “Action Figures” as a little kid and it creeped me out and stuck out in my mind. Because of that, Metallo has always been one of my favorite Superman villains. I also think that The Animated Series has the best version of Lex Luthor. It would be great to see a Superman movie with the same amount of care put into it as that show.
WAIT EVERYONE WAIT This is gonna sound amazingly pretentious but please nobody make a Superman movie until I come in the scene and make it. You guys will see. I’ll be the biggest thing to happen to Hollywood in a few years from now. Just let me go through High School first.
@@CsDanex21 nah, too late in the game, Tim isn't much of a leader but seems more fitting for being the ace in the hole in a young justice team. IMO I always believed that Teen Titans a group of teenage superheroes protecting a city alone with no supervision only works if Justice League was formed a year or two before, young justice is the logical option of a teen titans where the JL has been around for some time
Cyborg pretty much got his movie in JL Snyder Cut. The scene where Silas Stone is coaching him on his abilities parallels Jor El doing the same for Superman; that was Cyborg's Man of Steel. That being said, I would love for Cyborg to round up the Teen Titans.
Personally, I feel like WB had to stop trying to make their version of the MCU with DC; I would love to see them give directors the tools to tell their own unique stories with these beloved characters without the pressure of connecting everything together. I want to see movies that are made not out the need to further an overarching story, but one that are made out of love for the medium and the character(s) they're about
I love green lantern. He’s always been one of my favorite characters, I’d love a good adaptation of him that brings Justice to him and his stories. The movie in 2011 didn’t take the character to its fullest potential and I just think that’s sad. Green lantern is a character that overall is about finding yourself and conquering fear, anger, greed, etc. Green lantern is awesome💚
I've grown a fan of him as well. I really love the concept of different emotions coming to life and emerging as different groups that operate off of different ways and even have an oath to go along with it. Green Lantern has one of the most unique powers in comics and it would be really great to see someone take the power of your imagination coming to life through just a small ring brought to cinema with actual love for the characters and concepts. DC really has the potential to make a space opera with multiple endearing characters that everyone knows and bring to light new ones. Plus, you can also introduce Adam Strange and draw interest to him.
I recently rewatched the Christopher Reeve Superman movies (yes, all four) for the first time in at least a decade and those movies, although slow paced at certain times, captured some amazing aspects of the character really, really well. I wish they could take Reeve's Superman and throw him in the same world as Robert's Batman, just to amplify the contrast between the two characters and to get rid of the idea that they can make Superman dark and gritty like Batman.
Honestly, I think they would work great together. Battinson is dark and aloof, but he's trying his best and has learn to inspire hope so I feel it'd be a wholesome friendship. Damn, I want to watch that so much now.
One of their biggest problems is that they feel like everyone needs an origin story or a reason for being where they are. Just build the universe by making good solo movies and slowly connecting them, but not building to anything in particular until it matters.
they dont even need all solo movies. if im not mistaken, in 2006 we were supposed to get a justice league movie off rip and the story sounded pretty dope. just make a good movie. there really is no need for solo movies
@@skylopez2593 nothing wrong with them. they just aren’t necessary for a team up movie. just because they worked for marvel doesnt mean EVERY studio has to make solo movies before their team up movie. a good movie is a good movie. no one is gonna care if Batman,Superman and wonder woman had solo movies as long as your justice league movie is just a good movie.
@@yeetnessmcfinn501 Yeah, and that's not to say they can't make solo movies, but I don't think anyone is gonna be questioning why Batman is Batman or why Superman is Superman if they didn't
@@yeetnessmcfinn501 WB tried the team movie first route and it sucked. You can't have a team movie and expect the general audience to know and care about the ensemble cast. there is not enough screen time to develop all those characters, plus your villain and still tell the over all story. Comic book movies SUCK at advancing the plot because it's mostly characters talking to each other and the interesting parts are the action sequences where there isn't much plot progression. Imagine if The Avengers came out before Iron Man. How many people would know and care about Iron Man? Or Thor? We also wouldn't of had the context of Thor's relationship with Loki. We never would have gotten the whole thing about Hulk controlling his anger because we wouldn't know that was an issue. Black Widow and Hawkeye would of had even smaller roles since they aren't as important as the other Avengers.
Me personally, I'd want a Batman in the DCEU. The thing about the Batfamily is that they all eventually leave the den and finally have their own lives, teams, stories and friends. Barbara with the Birds Of Prey, Dick with the Teen Titans or Young Justice, Jason with the Outlaws. I don't want those characters to only be limited to Bruce, they need to grow and jump start their own teams and franchises. And at the same time, I want Bruce to grow and make friends with the League. I want to see him and Clark grow, him and Diana potentially having a relationship. Limiting Batman to its own self contained universe limits the potential the Batfamily has and the ability to tell some of their most iconic storylines in movies.
The best step I think they could take is flash point just swap who you want, grab Robert and his Gotham and throw him in there kinda like what marvel did with the ultimate universe replace the flash, change personalities, etc
Matt Reeves demanded full creative control so as his movies would not have to include forced tie ins to a larger cinematic universe, but that doesn't (or shouldn't) mean Zoe Kravit's Catwoman, Pattinson's Batman or a future Robin should not appear in other franchises like a World's Finest, a Gotham City Sirens or Teen Titans. It'd actually spark interest in seeing how these characters will interact with one another because of the contrast between franchises and something that the comics have always taken advantage of. As much as I liked The Batman, sure another grounded and realistic take on batman could be and was cool.. but it can stand out more lol.
I've never agreed with one of your videos so completely before. I almost teared up in the "use your other characters" section. I had almost forgotten how much those characters and their stories have meant to me over the years. Thank you 💟
honestly i don't care about comic book accuracy, all I want is whatever directors chose to make it should be about the characters and their story, not about creating the Universe, universe will create itself if the individual movies were Good lovable movies.

I'm a massive fan of the Batman movie, but I know the entire dc universe can't be that dark. I think having "solo" projects like we see with SS and Peacemaker, and Joker, but also do have some projects that are connected. Idk what I'm really saying, but I absolutely love the stuff DC is purring out and I think it's because of how different a lot of the stuff it
All they have to do is do an event maybe dc fandome, and announce two dc families. DCU or DCEU…and BLACK LABEL DC….DCU/DCEU will be a shared universe with more varied tones in their movies(Shazam Superman etc). BLDC would be a darker more grounded solo universe where projects like The Batman and Joker would reside. Black Label has been around for a long time and has made some of dc’s best comics, just graduate it and turn into a recognizable brand that way people know “ok this is black label so it’s serious and isn’t connected to the new Superman movie” this recognizability allows us to have the best of both worlds.
i think pursuing a Kingdom come storyline would do bets for these characters. Also for solo movies i think DC Should establish DC black label or something like vertigo where they can make unique stories from notable characters, we have already seen the potential of it from the joker and i think its a good opportunity to have something unique built from it, they can totally revamp the mythos of a character and have different genres from it while using the same name of a character.
Im still salty at WB for having cancelled THE SWAMP THING on HBO. That series was MAGNIFICENT! It perfectly told the story of Alan Moore's classics through the unique perspective of Abigail, and it was freaking BRILLIANT. Plus it was dark and scary, faithfully capturing the mood and tone of the og comicbooks. I want it back!!!
DC sux always has. Marvel is killing them over and over with every new project that comes out good or bad. DC just can not hang with Marvel. Marvel has the better characters and better storylines
@@hendrix7948 No DC has a much better use of variety of characters and stories at thier disposal than Marvel. They just need to execute them more and have a well thought out plan.
Nightwing is basically a more mentally well-adjusted Batman. Most of the skills and know-how, but he's genuinely charismatic and funny too. And he experienced a similar trauma as Bruce, but he had Bruce there to help him through it. Bruce trained a more emotionally healthy Batman. Dick Grayson could be the Iron Man of a DC movie universe. Start with him, backstory is implied through context, you have reasonably ample opportunities to see encounters with other already established superheroes, and you go from there. A centerpiece that's inviting, while also having accessibility to a bunch of characters we want to see represented better.
I would like James Gunn and Matt Reeves to take the symbolic lead on future DC live action projects. They clearly grew up with these characters and understand why they work. James Gunn chose Starro as a villain for the Suicide Squad because he used to be afraid of it as a kid despite how goofy the concept of it is on paper. So, he set out to create a Starro we could take seriously. A Bloodsport we could take seriously. And a Ratcatcher, Peacemaker, Rick Flag, Thinker, Vigilante, even a Polka Dot Man we could take seriously. And he did it without gutting them with grey-browns, orange and teals. He kept the color, spirit and wackiness of a comic book and filmed it with confidence and we all loved it because he did it, not in spite of it.
Personally, I don't care about universe aspect of DC. I really enjoy personal projects that recently happened with DC properties. I would really enjoy if more talented authors with solid vision will get greenlight for DC based character films not tight in one universe. And it might not be blockbuster but rather drama, thriller of whatever specific author feels like.
They’d be missing out if they didn’t have a universe aspect what’s the point of just making standalone hero and villain movies when in comics there’s a universe aspect, characters crossover, etc. Heroes and villains crossover all the time. Don’t get me wrong DC has made amazing standalone films, but there’s so much more that can be done when it’s connected.
I actually really agree with this, the suicide squad doesn’t ever have to meet the justice league and Robert Pattinson’s Batman never has to meet the Joaquin Phoenix Joker. Dc has a multiverse to play around with so just make whatever stories are best without worrying so much about continuity.
Honestly just keeping it simple and having something similar to “World’s Finest” from the DCAU would be amazing. Fleshing out Batman and Superman’s friendship as well as having a plotline that’s all about Batman doing some real detective work and tracking down Superman’s identity would be amazing. Preferably with Pattinson as Batman and either a new Superman or Cavill just being rebooted.
I agree,I think they need to start out with a young Clark Kent before they ever dive into Superman. But I don't think most directors are interested in that story. They just want to show Superman doing OP shit as soon as possible lol.
I think this is your best video you’ve ever put out. Everything you mentioned didn’t have bias behind it; you didn’t take shots at anything you didn’t like. You just explained the solution to the problem.
I'm dying for a Joker-style film for Mr. Freeze, we all know he deserves one. I'd love to see origin story movies for each of Batman's villains. I know they'd get repetitive after a while, but I will ingest them either way.
I like the idea. We really need that in The Batman 2. And have both characters be the center point of chaos in Gotham. That would be something to see..
Unlike what Sony have tried to do with spiderman villains I really think batmans villains could easily carry there own cinematic universe where they get to stay as villains not anti hero’s and we get watch these amazing character studies of these men and women turned into monsters from Gotham culminating in a Arkham asylum movie where u finally introduce Batman or something
I just wish they'd let a Shakespearean trained actor like David Tennant or Patrick Stewart play Mr. Freeze so they can bring the proper gravitas to the role
DC has 3 options. Option 1: let Snyder continue the story and universe he built. Option 2. Restart and find someone to be the care taker of the DCU the way Kevin does for Marvel. Option 3. Continue being disconnected stories and let directors tell their own individual visions. Seeing as WB wants a 10 year plan it’s either Snyder’s back or a restart (Sidenote) love everyone’s takes, it seems people are among one of these 3 camps, you either love Snyder and want more, think the DCEU needs a hard reset and start fresh, or prefer character focused stories over universe building.
I really just want the flash movie to reset everything. Even though gal Gadot and Jason mamoa are great in their roles we should just hit the hard reset and have everyone recasted. If they want a third aquaman and ww movie then they can do it disconnected and a Shazam vs Black Adam disconnected movie too. Then they can start their connected universe but every now and again they can just make a disconnected movie like joker or the Batman

I think first thing to do is not thinking of a cinematic universe, but of good individual movies that can capture what makes the caharcter and its stories great. Then, after that get them together in a movie, if you need, that must have also its own feeling. Just as when comics did, indeed, a good job. No world ending nightmare, no city destroying bomb, but a story about a brooding loner learning to believe in others. A story about a failed pilot learning to believe in himself. I want for movies to be about establishing characters rather than establishing a world. That's what comics do for us and why, at least for me, comics are as beloved as they are

You just blew my little mind with that idea 😅 I wasn't familiar with Chazelle's work until fairly recently, but I can confidently say that the guy's a goddamn wizard when it comes to filmmaking! Whiplash and La La Land both made my jaw drop (for both similar and completely different reasons), and I could easily picture him writing a grounded, relatable and optimistic Clark Kent (not to mention Lois and his parents). Theres so much beauty in the DC universe that deserves to be shown and spread to beyond those who read the comics or watch the tv shows like we do. It stings even more whenever we get a glimpse of the greatness this universe can bring to live action only for the studio to fumble it again and again. All the while they're talking about the rumours that have been going around recently. Turns out this cast of likable and sympathetic victims. Are actually violent criminals. And some kind of creature has been attacking criminals for the last few months. Some say its demonic creature, Some say its made of shadows, Some say its a vampire, some say its just a man. ALL say it is absolutely terrifying. And those rumours, pushed aside as nothing more than just that, rumours. Turns out they're true. They're being taken down by a creature of vengeance, a creature of the night. When were down to just one man standing. One survivor who has been hunted, and tormented, and traumatised. Desperate to get away. He arrives to the safe house. Busting in to a meeting of some very well dressed mafia types. Our sole survivor calls desperately out for help. The camera moves outside as police vehicles pull in, with GCPD on the sides. Behind one of the officer, we see a figure in the shadows and we hear a grizzled voice call out. "Jim... He's inside. Keep your men back and I can bring you The Roman". Back inside we see the man who our survivor was running too. Carmine Falcone. He's angry, yelling at our survivor. Alberto Falcone. He led the GCPD straight to their hideout. Alberto doesn't understand. He hasn't seen any GCPD, he's been running for his life from a monster. Carmine doesn't believe him. Says he's been listening to too many superstitious goons. "Alberto, There *is. no.* Bat Man!" As he say that, the skylight is smashed in, there is suddenly smoke everywhere. Alberto curls up in a ball as the men around him and Carmine open fire. Shooting into the darkness. As they too are taken out, one. by. one. Only Carmine is left standing. You see the fear in his face as the creature he just said is a fairy tale looms over him. Cut to credits as Carmine screams in pure terror. I want people who don't know this is a Batman film, to not realise its a Batman film until the ending scene with Carmine, Alberto, the GCPD and Lieutenant James "Jim" Gordon. The film should be ENTIRELY from the point of view of the criminals up until that point. That last scene being maybe 5 min of at least a 1hr runtime. I want it to be a GENUINE horror movie experience. The kind of film horror fans crave and horror haters avoid. I want the audience to FEEL a small glimpse of the fear, dread and panic that Batman is supposed to instil in criminals. I want the audience, like the criminals in Batman's early career, to have no idea that this isn't a demonic monster which is killing its victims. I never want to see Batman. Just his shadowy silhouette. Horror monsters are always best left to the imagination.
How I'd personally do it: 1: Hire younger and lesser known actors to play the main characters. Lesser known rising stars would likely ask for less pay, and are less likely to ever be busy with other projects, so we'd get to see the Justice League getting together more often. They'll also likely be playing these characters for a long time, I'm talking over a decade, so it's better to start with younger actors, in their 20s or so, so we don't end up with grandpa Superman by the end. I'm not saying to just get anyone off the street, just don't get actors who will only show up if you give them a billion dollars per movie. 2: Have the movies have a lighter and more hopeful tone. As much as I love Snyder (his cut of Justice League was incredible), I do agree with the anti-Snyder crowd that the DC characters work better in more hopeful and colorful movies. I'm not saying those movies can't have emotional moments, but at least have Superman smile more often, that way the emotional moments would pack even more of a punch. There is only one exception to this, one character that should have a darker tone. 3: Batman should have a gothic and dark tone to his movies. By dark I don't mean as in the "Everyone is an asshole" kind of dark, I mean dark as in Tim Burton style. Give us the cathedrals, the tall clock towers, the gargoyles, the full moon. Show Gotham as a dark, bizarre, and corrupt place, only for the heroic, not-murderous, not morally grey Dark Knight, alongside the rest of the Bat-Family, to show up as the last trace of hope. 4: Start off by focusing on the essentials. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter. Give us an entire Justice League in phase one before you start experimenting. 5: After you're done giving us the basics, then you start experimenting. Once you have a completed Justice League, then you give us the New Gods, the Legion of Superheroes, the Doom Patrol, the Teen Titans, Justice League Dark, etc. After you're done giving the universe legs to stand on, show us how rich the DC universe can be, and give the directors a chance to get more experimental and bring their visions to life in a way they couldn't before. 6: By the love of fucking God, don't rush it. Don't announce a bazillion movies, only to panic when the first one under-performs and then cancel everything. Don't have half of the Justice League show up in the first Superman solo movie. Slowly plan the storyline and build each character as an individual, that way it will be more satisfying when we get the big team up movie years from now.
I just want DC to remember The compassion that their characters feel. Like Batman isn't just a brooding character he is also one of the most compassionate people towards humanity. Want them to remember what he's like as a father what he's like as a lover and not just as an Cape crusader. I don't want to see a depressing Superman movie ever again. I just want DC to remember their humanity again not just about the heroes and how cool they look I want them to remember that these heroes are human they feel human emotions they have human relationships they have human flaws and they show it and they also show the best that humanity has to offer that's what I want DC to remember
@@NTWoo95 your right it was and I love it but thats not the batman we want or need we need batman should be allowed to feel and be happy or enjoy his nights with his kids we don't need a batman always brooding and throwing himself into work we need a batman who is human who just chills sometimes
I actually like man of steel it wasn't the perfect by any means but I loved I was 6 when it came out so imma little biased but man of steel wa really cool mostly visually and I loved the musuc
@@jinxact532 oh I’m with you, I’m just being shitty, sorry haha! Frank Miller has admitted that he wrote TDKR as like a “what if Batman was dark” because until then he was sort of a James Bond kind of character. He never intended to completely reinvent the way the character would be written for decades to come. I love a mix of darkness and humanity when it comes to Batman. The 89 film and the Reeves film are my favourite because they’re both uniquely dark but they’re also bizarrely funny in scenes
I would LOVE if they did a big event with the Teen Titans characters. These are some of DC's most popular characters at this point with the massive success of Teen Titans Go and the legacy of the original anime. Like if they did a crossover with both of the shows in which the Go characters invade the making of the season 6 anime characters after a season 6 is announced to be in the works. And then Teen Titans Cyborg get's a letter from DC Titans Nightwing to be in the next season of Titans.
I want these movies to feel like movies again. Iron Man is literally filled with so much heart. Batman Begins is a fantastic origin story that takes us beyond the Wayne's unjust murder and into the mountains of the League of Shadows. Spiderman 2 is a movie about a kid who abandons his responsibility because he just can't take it anymore, to find meaning in life, only to remember what that meaning is. I could talk for days about each of these movies and what makes them so phenomenal, but I couldn't tell you a single joke from a modern Hero flick (by that I mean the corporate multiverse films). Except the one joke they make, "Weren't comics goofy?" Yeah. Comics are goofy. Comics are ridiculous and they take a lot of suspension of disbelief to work. That's amazing. There is something so powerful in using all the power in your brain to leave your world and enter one that is entirely different. Batman Forever is my favorite Batman film of all time (thank you HiTop for telling me to give it another chance) it's not because it's the most grounded or the most tear jerking, but because it evokes joy. The scene where Robin grabs Batman's hand and pulls him out of the sand makes me cheer every time. I love seeing a band of goons dressed in outfits resembling Two Face, that only exist for Batman to pummel into the ground and make wacky slapstick with. I love Jim Carrey's bonkers ass interpretation of the Riddler. The movie is filled to the brim with camp and color and laughs and it's amazing. I want Superhero Cinema to feel like that again. I want to view my heroes not as tortured souls who exist to experience as much misery as physically possible, but as symbols of hope, physical proof that there are people out there willing to fight and bleed for the sake of others. I miss Superheroes.
"not as tortured souls who exist to experience as much misery as physically possible" So you don't want to see them as Nolan's Bruce and Raimi's Peter? You just complimented them
Here’s what I would do: I call this plan “The Flashpoint-Kingdom-Crisis reboot”. But a simpler name could be “Rebirth”. 1. FLASHPOINT: You fast forward 10-15 years. Have an experienced JL and a large array of heroes already established. Kingdom Come-style, but you don’t adapt that story just yet. You make Flashpoint, recast Barry and have Flash reboot the DCEU. 2. NEW UNIVERSE: You have created a new universe. People are now accustomed to the idea of the multiverse, recasting isn’t a problem. So you keep, at least, the Trinity (Henry, Ben, Gal) and Aquaman (Jason) and get rid of Ezra, Amber and whoever else sucks. Try to keep Cyborg and MM as well. Make a rebirth-solo-movie for every main character and make movies with unused characters. Use Green Lantern and New Gods primarily as tools for expansion. Have the JL fight Darkseid. (This is the new JL 1) Focus on making good movies. 3. KINGDOM COME: Eventually, you’ll catch up with the time depicted in the Flashpoint movie. By that point you have a huge array of heroes and characters, and no one cares if heroes X, Y, and Z changed actors along the way. You make Kingdom Come. (This is JL 2, or DC’s Civil War) 4. CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS: It has all been building up to this. The consequences of Flashpoint catch up with this universe. This is JL 3. All characters come together, epic grand finale to the saga. 5. PROFIT.
If I were given the Power of Zaslav, I would start by creating a DC Elseworlds label to put all of the best already-existing versions of these characters under. The Batman, Shazam, Joker, Wonder Woman, Aquaman-all of it under the same umbrella but obviously disconnected and free to create their own tones, sequels, spin-offs, etc. The next thing I’m doing is releasing a Superman movie set in the 1970s. I would love to see more classic interpretations of these characters and I think the 70s setting would be a great homage to Christopher Reeve’s version of the character. From that movie, we’re gonna create an entire 70s and 80s DC Movie Universe that captures the best aesthetics of those decades. Batman (yes, another one but in this scenario of mine Batfleck and Keaton are no longer in the role so we’re at a grand total of two Batmen instead of three), Wally West/Flash, John Stewart/Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow-each with variations on their costumes from that era in the comics. They each get their own movies and it’ll culminate in a brainiac invasion and the formation of the Justice League. Finally, I’m re-establishing the DCAU. Original character designs, original voice actors (where applicable), original music. Giving the fans what they want in the same vein as X-Men ‘97
I think we already got the perfect adaptation of the DC Universe through the DCAU with shows like Justice League Unlimited, Batman Beyond and Batman the Animated Series. Now I’m just looking forward for some movies that show a good representation of characters like Static and Nightwing while also getting the essence of Superman,Green Lantern and Flash right on the big screen.
I’d really like a Superman origin movie where we see Clark have to deal with gaining the world’s trust learning that he can’t save everyone and learning how to control himself. I think it could be a great movie to teach young men that a real man a real hero is one that is in complete control of themselves and we could see Superman become who he truly is
I might not always agree with your take, but I've always loved that you offer any superhero subject sound the poetic grandiosity they deserve. Good job on the video.
Yeah same here while I may not always agree I always love that he treats superhero movies with that poetic touch. It gives me the tingles and just makes me always think back to why I and so many others love comics
It takes some guts to show your reverence to comic books and their adaptations It's almost aggressive, how he dares color-correct official footage + aspect ratio
I don’t think having three Batman’s is an issue if its done right. Keep Pattinson in a batman cinematic universe like you said, use Keaton for batman beyond and keep Affleck or whoever replaces him in the justice league universe
could you imagine a green arrow film with all the fun of the comics, about him trying and struggling to capture a shit ton of b-list villains? i think it would also be fantastic to see him after he loses all of his money, that’s just a cool spot for him
Every time I watch one of your films, I’m inspired by your capacity for emotional intelligence, which so many industries are lacking. As someone who works in an organization they constantly question their faith in, it’s comforting to know the next generation gets it from a grass roots/ground level up. Problems are solved by individuals trying to better their team and their local work environment. So I really hope you keep your optimism up, man. Not only does the film industry need it, but so many other industries and organizations need it too. You’re the future; keep up the good work. Cheers mate, and thank you. A disillusioned mid-thirties bureaucrat.
This hurt to watch. Because as a huge fan of DC and as someone who's always aspired to write and act and dream big but have never been able to it hurts knowing how many people would kill for a chance to tell a story with any of these characters and instead they're just seen as disposable
I'd make a justice league film centered around blue beetle (or any "unpopular" starting out hero) and see these gods thru his eyes while also giving him enough firepower to keep up in the action scenes.
Man, you're reading my mind. All I wish is Matt Reeves to make his own Batfamily Cinematic World. Honestly, in perfect world it would be so awesome if he'd shielded Batgirl and take her to his Batman world, but that's just a dream. I'm kinda scary what'll happen with this Reeves/Pattinson Batman because of the recent news, but I hope they will leave Matt alone and he'll do what he wishes for his Batman. I so fucking hope. Beautiful Video Man♥️
Okay my plan, would be spread over 3 phases. First Phase! 1. Stop the cinematic universe, and focus on the standalone movies. 2. Start focusing on The batman, and use it as your base layer to build upon. 3. Make another joker movie, and a second Batman movie, where both of them ends with a link to each other. 4. In the 2 movies we focus only on Gotham and getting all the characters flushed out. In the 3rd movie, batman and joker meets again, while a bunch of other characters are now in the universe. 5. Make sure that the universe we are building is now gritty and not comedy vfx like marvel. Be the adult version of Marvel Now that's the first phase! Now we have a layer, Gotham has been introduced, and the people that live there, while batman is the face of your franchise. Phase 2: 1. Make a superman movie. Just like you describe in the movie, no tie ins no nothing, just introduce superman and metropolis. Like the First batman! 2. Make a martian man hunter movie, focus on him, what makes him special, why is he so interesting, and tie him in to the universe. 3. Make a martian man hunter and superman team up, they are very alike and yet very different, so the movie would be perfect. Superman is afraid of the martian man hunter, so the movie would play off that. Phase 3 1. Make another batman movie, but this time it's a full on Batman and Robin, he has been introduced in the earlier movies but this i now a complete team up. 2. Make a pre justice league movie, where the Batman, Superman and martian man hunter meet all together for the first time. Focus on their disagreements, how they work with each other and so on. 3. Green Lantern Movie, backstory and tie him in to the universe, do it gritty and as true to the world as possible 4. The justice league movie Batman, and maybe some of the characters that were introduced in his movies, Superman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern. Big movie where they fight Felix Faust, the big bad that has been lurking in the last couple of movies. And now the next Phase will begin. We now have the 3 first phases that creates the pre justice league, flushes out the universe, and we have the base layer, while also having fought the first big bad Villian in Felix faust Phase 4 1. Green Arrow Movie. Martian manhunter shows up in this one, and recruits him to the justice league 2. Constantine Movie 3. a standalone Cat woman, thriller noir movie. Phase 5 1. Batman and Constantine team up 2. Night Wing Movie 3. Superman 2, Introducing Wonder Woman as well, but without the long backstory Phase 6 1. Green Arrow and Flash movie. Introducing the flash while also flushing out green arrow. 2. Justice League vs Lex Luthor. Gather them all in the first part of the justice league vs Lex Luthor 3. Justice League Vs Lex Luthor part 2 Now I can keep on going but i would flush out alot of the villians, and make movies leading up to a huge fight against the Injustice League😃 It's not the best, and its hard to be realistic when you have superman and so on, but keep it the adult version of Marvel, and something like this i think would work😃
I’ve always wanted the DC universe movies to start off with their own individual stories and then with what we know about these characters, develop why they make such a great team. Also I’ve always loved the idea of universes like Snyder, Titans, Doom Patrol, DCEU and arrowverse projects that could be a shared universe. Consistent and cohesive and balanced. Seeing that Batman and Robin work together and why they separated and rebuild the family dynamic is deep and conflicting drama. It’s a dream but a hopeful one, one I’ve always loved to see.
Just make well told stories, preferably using less explored characters (booster gold, blue beetle). Don't force a connected universe, just do your best individual story in your own style, because with lesser known characters they tend to change the comics to fit the movies if it's a hit
Speaking of the 10 year plan for a new DC Cinematic Universe, I actually have two versions for how Discovery/Warner can approach this idea. Idea 1 - Start in an already lived in universe: Similar to what "Superman & Lois" has done, have this new cinematic universe start in the middle of the DC characters' lives. Superman and Lois are dating, Batman has already taken Tim Drake as his third Robin, the Teen Titans are now the Titans, etc. That way they can tell stories like "Batman: Under the Red Hood" and "JLA: The Tower of Babel" without having to take years to set up. It also means that we don't have to worry about too many origins stories because many of the DC characters have already been doing this for a while. Idea 2 - Start of fresh: Similar to what "The Batman" has done, have this new cinematic universe start in the early years of the DC superheroes, but without the origin stories. Let's say this whole thing starts five years after most of the DC superheroes have appeared. Superman and Batman have been aquatinted with most of their well known enemies, Dick Grayson has recently become Robin, and the Flash has already met Jay Garrick. Again, we don't have to worry about origin stories of each individual hero and can instead focus on the formation of each DC team like the Justice League, Teen Titans, and more.
Your idea about not doing origin stories is great. Seriously we don't really need it. Young Justice is perfectly fine with not doing it. Futhermore, that way, some people would be wondering their origins and start to pick up some comics. It's a win-win situation for me.
I like idea 2. Also Pattinson could work if built in that direction. We are seeing early Batman so for all we know he could upgrade into a more advanced Batman for the JL. Who knows?
A series that i REALLY want: "THE QUESTION" Give us a Hub City with a noir vibe. Make it a detective story. But add his humor like they did in the animated series.
Omg SAMEEE. My dream trilogy would be the question, Pandora and phantom stranger as they all go to the rock of eternity. The trio is called the trinity of sin. Look it up it’s a new 52 storyline
When I was young my dad gave me one of his DC comic book to read that he felt like I would love. Plastic Man ended up being my number one favorite DC character. A character that changed his ways from evil to good. Trying his to make bad things right, even when times are the worse. Sure he has his ups and downs, but who doesn’t? He is trying his best to overcome his past, become someone better, being a symbol of hope. He makes me feel called, reminding me to always hold onto hope, that good things will always come and go. I went searching around the internet a bit to find out what other movies, show, and comics Plastic Man has been in, there wasn’t much, I was a little bit sad that a powerful, strong, and unique character wasn’t involved in as many, movies, comics, and conversations till this day, I bet nobody thinks of him when people mention DC characters. It’s heartbreaking… until I watched Injustice, I haven’t been so thankful for someone making a movie with a character I love so much, still keeping up who Patrick “Eel” O’Brian is, a man doing his best and still holding on to hope, that he will come back, and hopefully become someone bigger than ever, a true Plastic Man.
I want to see a Batman movie about Year One era's Batman's first encounter with a Meta human. We take a Batman who has only ever experienced using his knowledge to tangle with criminals and mobsters, and put him up against something that puts his knowledge to a real test. The point would be to show off how he would react and deal with the presence of a being with actual powers that defy all logic. He is investigating a series of very bizarre murders of prominent Gotham industrialists, all whom appear to have been killed by plants. Because this is Gotham, where everyone has a theme, he suspects that this is the work of an emerging plant-themed serial killer. Because all the deaths were top-level executives with ACE Chemicals or their affiliates, and because ACE isn't the most eco-friendly company in the world, he suspects that the culprit must be some kind of environmental activist. During a stakeout of one of ACE's top executives, his theories are all blown out of the water when plants--vines, specifically, literally burst out of the ground to strangle the man to death. He, of course, jumps in to stop the attack. During the sequence, he spots a shady figure and chases them to a park. Vines burst out of the ground to attack him now, and the trees themselves seem to come alive to prevent his escape. That's when the killer turns around and we find out who it really is--Swamp Thing.
I would like to see after flash point there’s been major changes “clean ups” and Robert and his Gotham are suddenly in the dceu, flash is different, etc and no one really notices but at the end of the Batman sequel we see a red and blue blur fly across the sky as Bruce Wayne is looking up kinda like how he looked at the bat symbol in the first movie just no suit. Then the first cross over movie is essentially justice league doom where Batman takes on the justice league
I drew this plan out months ago when I racked my head over how you could justify Michael Keaton Batman being the main Bruce Wayne in a Nick Fury-like role across multiple movies replacing Ben Affleck. Like what would that look like, what else would I want to change if we're going to just go back and bring in whatever elements of it that fans liked or wanted explored, My first thing would've have indeed been two Batmen. But I went into it with Keaton cause I didn't see Affleck wanting to come back (Aquaman cameo hadn't been revealed yet and Warner seemed to be investing a lot into Keaton's portrayal already). With Reeves we could have the tried and true noir gothic world of the comics, centered around Gotham City only, and exploring a years long dynamic between a Batman raising a young child as his Robin over many films. But, over in the DCEU, it can be less rooted in Gotham, more into the future of it all, and could focus on Batman's key proteges as adults; Dick and Barbara, taking his place on the Justice League in the field while Bruce is left to that all important Nick Fury Batman role doing his work far more globally, and outside of the costume and for as long as Keaton was willing to appear before allowing that universes Batman to die, but with the knowing that his legacy would be carried on be two people more than capable of taking on his legacy, almost like an odd fusion of Batman Incorporated and Batman Beyond that allows us to have both the traditional within Reeves own separate Reevesverse and a bold new approach where everybody gets to have a little of everything across the board in terms of the potential of the character and larger world of Batman with the DCEU, where we can allow characters like Nightwing and Batgirl to grow beyond Batman and fully embody the ideas he stood for in a *TRUE* passing of the torch like Wally West as The Flash so many years ago in the comics. Sasha Calle and Henry Cavill; I'd put both head of the Superman franchise as Supergirl and Superman. Cause I thought she was wonderful casting, but I was disappointed when her inclusion seemed to be them wanting to move away from Henry Cavill and the idea of a traditional Superman film which would be a horrible mistake when we could literally have them both. I'd bring back Snyder's John Stewart, as well as Snyder's version of Martian Manhunter and Jurnee Smollett as Black Canary too and make them all prominent Leaguer's to move a little further away from Ezra Miller as The Flash and use those three to build up the roster into more of an all-star team encompassing iconic fan favorite characters, and continue to build all the things that already work like Gunn's Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, more Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman and more James Wan's Aquaman, building on the potential of Birds of Prey with Cathy Yan, and the eventual clash of Shazam and Black Adam. My JL in this whole thing would probably look like Batgirl, Nightwing, Superman, Martian Manhunter, John Stewart, Black Canary, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman.
If you want the “Use your other characters” section, young justice is exactly what you are looking for. Season four was fantastic and almost no one is talking about.
@@mayotango1317 so bad I've forgotten almost everything about it... season one and two Will always be the only ones.the best ones cuz I remember every episode in detail
Writing this at 4:17 before I watch the rest of this video. What Matt Reeves has accomplished in one movie is incredible. I would love to eventually see a take on Superman in this universe. It would have to be something that is built up. It can't happen in 2-3 movies. But the way he writes outcasts just works. From there, slowly introducing this younger Batman to a much bigger world (and by extension, us as an audience) would be the most organic and honest way to build the DCEU. It's probably not what DC will do (or maybe even what they *should* do). I would hate to see the years that Zach Snyder, and other directors have been in, just vanish. It's just the cleanest way to start over.
I’d love Pattinson’s version to enter a world of meta humans - but we’re stuck with grounded realism (again) if Riddler was made into a guy who wears a plastic bag over his head instead of a green suit - I don’t think we’ll be seeing accurate versions of fantastical characters.
No more cinematic universe bullshit, look how marvel pumping out so many interconnected TV series/movies. They sacrificed so much qualities for the sake of making everything fit in their tiny universe. Most of their lines are just references from previous movies and if u didn't watched the one before u might missing out the context. We need movies to be good and not strictly follow the same stale formula.
I’ve been on this train for a while. If WB wanted to start clean, The Batman and it’s universe is honestly the best way to do that. There are no other JL characters at all, just a clean slate
I want to see Affleck and Cavill remain in the prime DCEU and have Pattinson’s Earth Two be the parallel universe that is just as awesome in different ways.
@@thomaskilroy4573 While I also want that, it’s probably too late to keep them as their character. They are getting up in age sadly and to restore the DCEU would be a decade or more of movies
Inspired by the Batman film, I decided to make my first intro into film by deciding to sit down and write my own Batman film, it took me about 5 and a half months to write the story I am happy with, and it felt so rewarding that I decided to keep going, and I am now 2 months into writing a Green Arrow film, I hope to write movies to fill 3 MCU like phases, and then hopefully do something on them, either animated or live-action, but just the thought of having this project complete is an amazingly fun one, as for my plan, I plan on keeping the style of the Batman films, and introduce the series with a Batman film, and the whole first phase stays very earthly and almost believable universe so that eventually introducing the outer worlds characters like super man and Martian man hunter can almost seem like it can happen, I want a universe that instead of heavily relying on comedy and cool fight scenes, one that relies on the world it’s in and especially the characters, every movie should be about the character and not the battle, I want every movie to grow the character on a personal and emotional level.
I've been waiting for someone to propose a Batman Beyond movie idea for the longest time. Whenever the people I talk to bring up a movie set within the Batman universe, I have to be the one rooting for the Batman Beyond movie, as most of my friends don't even know what that is. The thing is, I believe that it should be done within Matt Reeve's universe because they already have elements of a "Blade-Runner Esque" Gotham and no other superheroes are connected to it yet. I also think they should wait a few years before making a Batman Beyond movie to let the Pattinson movies become a well-established series so there would be much more of an impact when Batman Beyond is introduced.
I'm really disheartened that DC is still going on their spiel about wanting a 'Cinematic Universe.' I really felt they were finally accidentally going strong by embracing *not* doing what Marvel's doing, having different genres and no obligation to watch a dozen different things. I hope they course correct and don't go with it.
I just want to point out that I really appreciate your voice as one that clearly articulates love for superheroes and storytelling in general. This space is infinitely better because of your passion. Keep on rockin'
Honestly a fourth world trilogy starting with miracle man, building up with forever people, then ending with the new gods with a true war between Darkseid and Orion would be a good way to show off the dc universe on all levels
I personally think that there shouldn’t be a whole universe. Just self contained films that exist in the now without spending half the runtime setting up stuff in the future. The Batman is a step in the right direction.
I’d love to see more movies with different tones but they all share a universe, that way we could see the same world but through different perspectives Like imagine the clashing of a hopeful Superman with a darker tone of the Batman in the same universe so when they share a movie together you can see how much they are alike/different. Not to mention it wouldn’t have the restraints many feel the mcu has. Kind of like how spidey and daredevil are said to be the street heroes vs the avengers and their threats I’d also love movies where not so well known characters to the public are brought forward, not as their own movie, but just in others’ movies like how in the Black Adam trailer we also see Doctor Fate and Atom (I believe?) , maybe they’re part of the main cast, but honestly I wouldn’t mind some just appearing for a few minutes as long as they don’t feel very shoved in
If only there was an upcoming movie based around a comic book that caused side effects I would like to see after flash point there’s been major changes “clean ups” and Robert and his Gotham are suddenly in the dceu, flash is different, etc and no one really notices but at the end of the Batman sequel we see a red and blue blur fly across the sky as Bruce Wayne is looking up kinda like how he looked at the bat symbol in the first movie just no suit. Then the first cross over movie is essentially justice league doom where Batman takes on the justice league
@@samuel-uq5tx Why the fuck merge Robert into the DCEU prime when he can already be a part of a new separate ‘Earth Two’ universe and just have the two crossover. I’d prefer seeing Pattinson and Affleck working off one another in small interactions.
@@thomaskilroy4573 because Affleck sucks **** his Batman is way to old, way to crazy, and doesn’t work in a main continuity dc. Their positions should be switched
It would have been awesome to see a couple films in the MCU take place in the wake of the blip, not only would it be a build up to Endgame, but it would show how these characters evolved, instead of being told. I would have mostly wanted a solo hulk movie and how banner and the hulk managed to work out being professor hulk. Such a huge missed opportunity for some characters to be the main character in their own story.
IDK why but video hits on a different level. WB made DC like my favorite football club, a glorious past, some wrong decisions, some heartbreaks, protest of fans to get JUSTICE, losing hope again and hoping for a better season every year.
Patreon gang what up EDIT: There’s something surreal and hilarious about Francisco dressed in the Robin costume just walking into a bar and getting a shot lmao can’t wait for Jason
We NEED you to be the “Feige” of DC because you’re the only person I’ve ever completely agreed with when it came to how to fix DC. Great video yet again
I want a DCEU with the actors we have already and then another one for things like Snyder and Keaton and Reeves. James Gunn’s very comic booky style but in a version of Snyder’s universe is good (people seem to forget that the two of them made their debut together on Dawn of the Dead) Love Snyder, I hope his whole vision sees the light of day, but some things are dealbreakers- Dick Grayson should NOT be dead in a cinematic universe. Keeping things like Reeves and Joker separate are already strengths, so don’t be like Marvel and keep everything in one universe. That’s a strength. Release a Batman Beyond movie in the Batgirl timeline too. And give even more stand-alones, hopefully, and this is an unprecedented idea, about characters that AREN’T BATMAN. They should be able to do anything. Maybe they shouldn’t- but why not push the limits?
I'm not a fan of you're dramatic stylization of videos. But you're passion for film is one that I respect and I think you really got sum to say. Good vid
I absolutely loved the darkness & grittiness of The Batman, but you are so very right. A new Superman film would be amazing and seeing one of the strongest but kindest heroes through character study lenses could be something special. Same for a Batman Beyond Cyberpunk/ Bladerunner esque film
i used to love Hitop films, but after his no way home video the videos just didnt inspire me like his previous essays had, but wow, this one is quite possibly his greatest video...so far. continue to inspire us, Alex, and one day Warner Bros will hand the keys to the kingdom to you. I truly believe nobody could do it quite like you and a team of artists that share the dream.
Wow, very impressive essay, well done! I definitely want Green Lantern back! There's a lot of good stories there in my opinion. I'd even like to see Guy Gardner or Kyle Rayner. They're two of my favorites and I totally believe either one could be the star instead of Hal and still make it fun and make it stand out a lot. Also I want more brighter and lighter stories. Start having fun with these tales. Give us something we can really laugh about. Jon'z Jones definitely needs more love! His movie could be fantastic. I would also also love to see Black Canary done right. How about Vixen? with the current growing demand for more black female characters, now would be a great time for her to show up! I also think a Green Arrow movie that's actually closer to the comics could be cool too. Weirdly enough when I was younger I used to think Green Arrow was like DC's Thor stand-in. Just hear me out, they're both very comical and usually recognized by their weapons and get over confident easily. I think the true Oliver Queen is just the kind of fun character we need in the movies right now. Also I am in no way going against Stephen Amell. He had his time, and I will always think he was great! However I want something closer to the original character for the movies. Also yes I want to see more content from Matt Reaves' bat world! I do hope he'll add some more interesting characters in the next movie. Black Adam looks good to me, but I definitely hope DC will consider broadening its horizons more. Also yes Teen Titans and Batman Beyond could indeed be fantastic movies with the right people involved. One more character I'd like to add to this list is the original Spectre- James Corrigan. I'm a big fan of his story and would love to see it on the big screen! Once again, really good job with your over all presentation here!
Beautifully said. Not having a green lantern franchise is criminal with what could be done with that. Of course as you mentioned we need character work for Superman and not an origin film..

HiTop your a pretty good looking dude! Lol. 😉
A Batman Beyond movie with Michael Keaton as Old Bruce would be my dream DC movie.
Hire someone like Kevin figgyy
I'd kill for a good live action Batman Beyond. I hope WB can get their stuff together. They have such great IP's and I just want them to shine again. Especially Superman.
Yeah me too hopefully the setting is Batman beyond is a gritty cyberpunk. That sounds amazing
I've been saying that for a while now. Hell when they announced Robert Pattinson was playing Batman, I was hoping for him to be Batman Beyond.
Yeah that would be cool.
Funny seeing you here
This is literally my dream film.
This is exactly what I thought they should do but with legitimate genre. Noir Detective Batman, sci-fi thinkpiece cyborg
This would be an ideal DC Cinematic Universe to be honest. Each film has their own style and tone to suit the character each film is about and blend them all together when they come together in team centric movies.
Exactly. I think the MCU-esque quippyness with no variation between each character needs to be dropped. Hell, look at how characters in the DCAMU work together
that would be so cool!
I’d absolutely love something like this.
I don't get why everyone seems so obsessed with tonal consistency for a connected universe.
Let Batman have dark noir-detectice type stories, let Superman be uplifting and more slice-of-life.
Let Green Lantern stories be sci-fi cop movies etc
These movies can all be set in the same universe without all feeling tonally and thematically consistent y'know.
100%. That boring, bland but tonally consistent cinematography is what killed the MCU.

DC’s doing that right now. I guess people’s problem is that they’re not more connected.
I really wanna see more of Robert Pattinson’s Batman, especially if they are going to add in the bat family.
Batterson is the only saving grace of dceu
I also want to see more of Pattinson's BATMAN but somehow I don't want to see a bat-family in this because I want bruce to be the solo character in that universe because this BATMAN is very young so I don't see him become a father figure for a robin. This BATMAN is not able to handle himself yet so bearing the responsibly of a teenager would be very difficult and i think it would not fit the character well.

WAIT EVERYONE WAIT
This is gonna sound amazingly pretentious but please nobody make a Superman movie until I come in the scene and make it.

Exactly
Got really confused when you said Reeve’s Superman cause of Matt Reeves lol
@@shism28 maybe he will make a Superman film 🤔

Damn, I want to watch that so much now.
Putting him in gotham would be interesting as hell
One of their biggest problems is that they feel like everyone needs an origin story or a reason for being where they are. Just build the universe by making good solo movies and slowly connecting them, but not building to anything in particular until it matters.
they dont even need all solo movies. if im not mistaken, in 2006 we were supposed to get a justice league movie off rip and the story sounded pretty dope. just make a good movie. there really is no need for solo movies
What’s wrong with origin stories?
No the more the universes the better
@@holbvgbbbbkfz I feel limited by that I would like to see superman interact with roberts batman and would like to see how he would react
@@samuel-uq5tx Just have Flashpoint reset everything and start fresh with Reeves' Gotham. Build out from there.
Thank you 💟

And it might not be blockbuster but rather drama, thriller of whatever specific author feels like.
That sounds boring
so you wouldnt want to see those amazing characters come together and fight as a team??
I agree
But can we get Batman and Superman being friends in something?
Is that too hard to ask
Honestly just keeping it simple and having something similar to “World’s Finest” from the DCAU would be amazing. Fleshing out Batman and Superman’s friendship as well as having a plotline that’s all about Batman doing some real detective work and tracking down Superman’s identity would be amazing. Preferably with Pattinson as Batman and either a new Superman or Cavill just being rebooted.
maybe they should go the route of kingdom come or even a new frontier instead.
I agree,I think they need to start out with a young Clark Kent before they ever dive into Superman. But I don't think most directors are interested in that story. They just want to show Superman doing OP shit as soon as possible lol.
Honestly, after the Synder Cut, I really want to see more the Knightmare stuff and how it builds to that. That and more of Robert Pattinson's Batman
Bryan Cranston as Mr. Freeze. Literal recipe for cinematic gold right there.
Hope they look at Heart of Ice - BTAS as inspiration for a Mr. Freeze origin story. Paul Dini is a genius for delivering that masterpiece.
DC has 3 options.
Option 1: let Snyder continue the story and universe he built.
Option 2. Restart and find someone to be the care taker of the DCU the way Kevin does for Marvel.
Option 3. Continue being disconnected stories and let directors tell their own individual visions.
Seeing as WB wants a 10 year plan it’s either Snyder’s back or a restart
(Sidenote) love everyone’s takes, it seems people are among one of these 3 camps, you either love Snyder and want more, think the DCEU needs a hard reset and start fresh, or prefer character focused stories over universe building.
Snyder never had a 10yr plan
I really just want the flash movie to reset everything. Even though gal Gadot and Jason mamoa are great in their roles we should just hit the hard reset and have everyone recasted. If they want a third aquaman and ww movie then they can do it disconnected and a Shazam vs Black Adam disconnected movie too. I think first thing to do is not thinking of a cinematic universe, but of good individual movies that can capture what makes the caharcter and its stories great. Then, after that get them together in a movie, if you need, that must have also its own feeling. Just as when comics did, indeed, a good job. Thinking of a cinematic universe is what's killing good cinema.
The one thing I want more than anything is for DC (and Marvel) to tell smaller, more personal stories. No world ending nightmare, no city destroying bomb, but a story about a brooding loner learning to believe in others. A story about a failed pilot learning to believe in himself. I wasn't familiar with Chazelle's work until fairly recently, but I can confidently say that the guy's a goddamn wizard when it comes to filmmaking! Whiplash and La La Land both made my jaw drop (for both similar and completely different reasons), and I could easily picture him writing a grounded, relatable and optimistic Clark Kent (not to mention Lois and his parents). And you know what? His version of Lex Luthor could become the definitive version, because I can see so much of him in Terrence Fletcher.
Fuck it, just get J.K. Simmons to play Lex 🤣
@@mindofmarlowe WTF no. Miles Teller has the acting chops but not anywhere near the looks.
@@extraterrestrialhorse9722 that’s…kind of the point? For him to just be a normal guy. A boy scout. I understand the comics always have the chiseled jaw and huge muscles. Cavill was a great casting for that. With teller, he could really be the everyday guy who’s likable and relatable but happens to be the strongest being on earth. Also, it’d be more believable for him to stay under the radar. But actually, you point about looks is kind of disproven by Top Gun. Haha. He’s at least been getting some attention for having potential leading man quality off that movie.
Superman directed by Mathew Vaughn and a good Green Lantern movie is all I want from DC right now
Hal Jordan got done so dirty the movie isn’t even that bad it’s just parallax. I would have Hal Jordan with John Steward appear while Hal is in the Air Force have atrocitis break out going after black hand and Hal and sinestro stop him then end credits have John get a ring or guy
I would love for a more supernatural film with John Constantine, explore the magic and the loneliness that it dealing with the supernatural causes. Show a character that hides behind the snark and the cigarettes and covers up the trauma he dealt with. How he uses his magic as a coping mechanism to feel powerful when his childhood was overcome with powerlessness
Edit: Also keep Matt Ryan as John
Matt is irreplaceable but I think he should get his show back (soft rebooted)rather than a film
With a HBO max budget and some sweet cursing
@@holbvgbbbbkfz Matt Ryan is the worst fucking Constantine by a fucking mile. He’s even worse than Keanu. At least Keanu got the character’s personality better. The morons who call him “irreplaceable” and “perfect” clearly have no fucking concept who the fuck Constantine even is.
I think there is a Constantine movie if that helps.
@@ecc8323 Nope. It’s a TV show. With a new actor playing it. Thank God, hopefully it’ll finally be a Constantine that’s faithful to the character and not a total bastardisation of everything he stands for.

“Making movies are hard man.” -Hightop
That’s one of the things I’m afraid about when starting as an animation director, especially when it comes to the production of it.
Bro. Every time you make a video it feels like I’m having a conversation with you. I think like once a week you should have a live q&a or something with the fans where we just talk. I think you have so much to offer and for you to make a video at least once a week with your subs would be huge for interaction
I’ve always wanted a Mini-Series adapted from The New Frontier. It’s my favorite Justice League story because it is full of hope and serves as an origin for the entire DC Universe.
I agree that we need a Superman movie, one that gives us the humble and friendly alien farm boy from Smallville that we all know and love. They shouldn't continue to try so hard on making a cinematic universe like Marvel and try to go slow and steady. It'd be interesting to possibly see a new Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Flash meet up with Pattinson's Batman and see how they would all interact. I hope that Matt Reaves can get his Batman trilogy with Robin in it. I want to see Batgirl get her chance on the big screen at some point if she can. I want to see my favorite superheroes be great again.
mos did that but ok
@@dokatafrinz1349 I mean, I guess, but it felt more like a film of its time: big explosions, horrendous product placements, bad decisions, etc. Man of Steel wasn't all bad to me, but it could have been better. Snyder tried to make Superman too serious in places, and too much like Jesus (too god-like) when he was originally a Moses allegory (especially because he was created by two Jewish guys). I also wish Henry Cavill could have been given more opportunity to shine in his acting abilities, instead of looking kind of mopy. Superman doesn't need the dark comic book movie style like other heroes. He works better as a man of hope.
No Superman. He’s too OP and out of place with everything/everyone else. There needs to be a universe without him
@@Frontigenics Uh, what?
@@jesseowenvillamor6348 Superman is an old character that doesn't make sense with a grounded DC Universe anymore. Even taking into account being from another planet... powers like flying and laser eyes are goofy and don't make sense. I'd love to see a Nolan-esq DC universe with characters like Green Arrow and MAYBE even flash... but Superman is just a stretch. Think of how out-pf-place Superman would be in Nolan's version of DC universe... it would be really dumb.
It hurts so much knowing for the foreseeable future my favorite superhero universe will only be known as a mess of canned films and bad studio decisions. Theres so much beauty in the DC universe that deserves to be shown and spread to beyond those who read the comics or watch the tv shows like we do. It stings even more whenever we get a glimpse of the greatness this universe can bring to live action only for the studio to fumble it again and again. We need these stories to be shown, because in my opinion out of any comic book superhero universe, DC brings the most beautiful, inspiring, and hopeful stories. And in a world as cynical and mean-spirited as ours has become, we need the reminder and the inspiration to be good and to try and be our best selves again. It wont fix every problem in the world, but it can give us hope that maybe we can.
My dream DC movie would actually work best as a YT fan film.
I want a horror film about a small group of armed people being hunted... hunted by... something.
I want ALL the horror movie bells and whistles. Ominous music, uncomfortable lighting, unsettling colours, unnerving cinematography, a sense of dread, isolation and fear. I want sympathetic characters that you feel for as they are pulled into the shadows, hung in the rafters, lured into traps... one. by. one.
How I'd personally do it:
1: Hire younger and lesser known actors to play the main characters.
Slowly plan the storyline and build each character as an individual, that way it will be more satisfying when we get the big team up movie years from now.
i agree wholeheartedly with everything you said, especially the 6th one. its leaving everyone big disappointment

They did do a 03’ Titans crossing over with the Go! Titans
It wasnt an anime but yeah
"not as tortured souls who exist to experience as much misery as physically possible"
So you don't want to see them as Nolan's Bruce and Raimi's Peter?
(This is JL 2, or DC’s Civil War)
4. CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS: It has all been building up to this. The consequences of Flashpoint catch up with this universe. This is JL 3. All characters come together, epic grand finale to the saga.
5. PROFIT.
Oh and The Batman stays standalone. Don’t touch that.
Now I’m just looking forward for some movies that show a good representation of characters like Static and Nightwing while also getting the essence of Superman,Green Lantern and Flash right on the big screen.
never really liked the idea of a cinematic universe.
Totally agree with DCAU, I feel like that was DC at it's prime.

I don’t think having three Batman’s is an issue if its done right. Keep Pattinson in a batman cinematic universe like you said, use Keaton for batman beyond and keep Affleck or whoever replaces him in the justice league universe

@Oddwolf 799 I'd like to see you do better.

My dream DCU is respecting the source material and make a compelling narative for each movie. Also each movie should be able to stand by itself.

Be the adult version of Marvel
Now that's the first phase! Now we have a layer, Gotham has been introduced, and the people that live there, while batman is the face of your franchise.
Phase 2:
Phase 3
3. Green Lantern Movie, backstory and tie him in to the universe, do it gritty and as true to the world as possible
4. The justice league movie
Batman, and maybe some of the characters that were introduced in his movies, Superman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern. Big movie where they fight Felix Faust, the big bad that has been lurking in the last couple of movies.
And now the next Phase will begin. We now have the 3 first phases that creates the pre justice league, flushes out the universe, and we have the base layer, while also having fought the first big bad Villian in Felix faust
Phase 4
1. Green Arrow Movie. Martian manhunter shows up in this one, and recruits him to the justice league
2. Constantine Movie
3. a standalone Cat woman, thriller noir movie.
Phase 5
1. Batman and Constantine team up
2. Night Wing Movie
3. Superman 2, Introducing Wonder Woman as well, but without the long backstory
Phase 6
1. Green Arrow and Flash movie. Introducing the flash while also flushing out green arrow.
2. Justice League vs Lex Luthor. Gather them all in the first part of the justice league vs Lex Luthor
3. Justice League Vs Lex Luthor part 2
Now I can keep on going but i would flush out alot of the villians, and make movies leading up to a huge fight against the Injustice League😃
It's not the best, and its hard to be realistic when you have superman and so on, but keep it the adult version of Marvel, and something like this i think would work😃
I’ve always wanted the DC universe movies to start off with their own individual stories and then with what we know about these characters, develop why they make such a great team.
Idea 2 is so perfectly good!
Who knows?

I really thought this was building up to Poison Ivy

Haven’t watched your videos in a long time. Can definitely see the maturity within you and how differently you perceive things. Keep it up
Aged like fine wine
If you want the “Use your other characters” section, young justice is exactly what you are looking for. Season four was fantastic and almost no one is talking about.
No, is so bad.
@@mayotango1317 so bad I've forgotten almost everything about it... season one and two Will always be the only ones.the best ones cuz I remember every episode in detail
The crazy thing about Warner Bros is that they make better movies than Disney
So why they cause so much trouble when it comes to DC?
Like this video said, they don't trust their property.
TSS and The Batman was one of the most refreshing comicbook movies in awhile
I tell ya, this dude can narrate and tell the scripts I’ve seen in years. Love the passion.
True. Maybe the third movie of trilogy can have an end credit scene showing an old Robert Pattinson
I would love to see Slade in Matt reeves’s Batman. I feel like we haven’t seen him in a film properly and he is such an interesting and cool villain
He doesn’t deserve to be stuffed into such a boring movie in a emo ass universe, put him in the batfleck movie, he deserves high quality
I just want to point out that I really appreciate your voice as one that clearly articulates love for superheroes and storytelling in general. This space is infinitely better because of your passion. Keep on rockin'
I mean, my dream movie is already a reality, it's "The Batman"
Honestly a fourth world trilogy starting with miracle man, building up with forever people, then ending with the new gods with a true war between Darkseid and Orion would be a good way to show off the dc universe on all levels
I personally think that there shouldn’t be a whole universe. Just self contained films that exist in the now without spending half the runtime setting up stuff in the future. The Batman is a step in the right direction.
The pattyman is a step on the wrong direction
@@rainystone607 What you mean? It was a decent film and we don't know what'll lead to.
@@rainystone607 Unfortunately for you Twilight obsessed haters it was the most faithful version of the character yet so…😂🤣😂
People still beating the sparkle boy dead horse. 😂
He was pretty good better than murder bat, I mean batfleck.
I’d love to see more movies with different tones but they all share a universe, that way we could see the same world but through different perspectives
Like imagine the clashing of a hopeful Superman with a darker tone of the Batman in the same universe so when they share a movie together you can see how much they are alike/different. Not to mention it wouldn’t have the restraints many feel the mcu has.
Kind of like how spidey and daredevil are said to be the street heroes vs the avengers and their threats
I’d also love movies where not so well known characters to the public are brought forward, not as their own movie, but just in others’ movies like how in the Black Adam trailer we also see Doctor Fate and Atom (I believe?) , maybe they’re part of the main cast, but honestly I wouldn’t mind some just appearing for a few minutes as long as they don’t feel very shoved in
If only there was an upcoming movie based around a comic book that caused side effects I would like to see after flash point there’s been major changes “clean ups” and Robert and his Gotham are suddenly in the dceu, flash is different, etc and no one really notices but at the end of the Batman sequel we see a red and blue blur fly across the sky as Bruce Wayne is looking up kinda like how he looked at the bat symbol in the first movie just no suit.
Patreon gang what up
EDIT: There’s something surreal and hilarious about Francisco dressed in the Robin costume just walking into a bar and getting a shot lmao can’t wait for Jason
We NEED you to be the “Feige” of DC because you’re the only person I’ve ever completely agreed with when it came to how to fix DC. Great video yet again
I want a DCEU with the actors we have already and then another one for things like Snyder and Keaton and Reeves. James Gunn’s very comic booky style but in a version of Snyder’s universe is good (people seem to forget that the two of them made their debut together on Dawn of the Dead)
Love Snyder, I hope his whole vision sees the light of day, but some things are dealbreakers- Dick Grayson should NOT be dead in a cinematic universe.
Good vid
They should do Batman beyond with Michael Keaton Batman because he is 70 and would fit into that.
His no way home video was spot on. Once the hype and nostalgia dies, you can see how flawed that movie really was.
@@bikramarora1819 I disagree. Sure it isn't perfect but it's still one of the best comic movies out there. Tex did a really good video on it.
@@whosaidthat84 it’s not even a top 3 Spider-man movie lol
