To end my medical debt crisis, I had to declare bankruptcy. There was NO way I could pay the $540,000 hospital bill when my youngest was born 2 months premature. This bill was after insurance covered 80%.

@@AConquerorsVendetta my favorite are the people who don't understand how insurance works so they insist that I am lying because "insurance covers everything after your deductible." No. No it does not. There is a cap and people who reach that cap unexpectedly get to feel the full force of what that means.

You might not believe this, but TH-cam's censorship policy is part of the problem. If I decided to respond to one of the biggest issues regarding the health crisis, my post will be ghosted.
But like I’ve said many times before, people love voting for free without demanding tangible benefits. Back in the seventies, this wasn’t the case.

Can we not call patients in need of health care "consumers" anymore? Health care should be a right, not for profit. Just like we wouldnt call disabled people "disabled rights consumers", neither should anyone exercising rheir rights ever be referred to as "consumers" of their rights.

The solution is well known, Affordable comprehensive universal healthcare like that of more than 30 countries. The private healthcare monopoly pays the Congress to hold these Blah Blah sessions to delay and avoid talking about the solution

We need single payer healthcare, like European countries. In the USA, the entire medical industry makes a profit when you're sick and need medical attention, so our food, medicine, anything we consume is made to keep us sick. Whereas in European society the medical system loses money when you're sick, so everything they eat and consume is geared for health and a healthy lifestyle is promoted and rewarded. Their system only saves money when their citizens are healthy. I had to see an ENT for hearing aid fitting, the ENT looked in my ears, said I needed another hearing test, billed Medicare $675 and was paid $515 fir just looking in my ears, I had to have 2 more appts for that hearing aid fitting. My last hearing test was 4 weeks before, the ENT demanded another one. Now they turned me over to collections saying I owe an additional $118.

I am currently being called multiple times a day every day, even weekends, over the hospital bills i got from child birth. This is why i was strongly considering just giving birth at home without pain management or a doctor nearby to help. Now i don't know what to do. I mean, I'm a sahm with no money, no car, no job etc. If they sue me, what would they even be sueing for? I have nothing. Surely they must know this. Why are they harassing the poorest people in the country?

That 340b program absolutely contributes to medical debt. Allowing hospitals to charge exorbitant charges for medications that they get at a discount simply pushes debt onto patients.

My husband died recently. I lost him and his income. I ended up having three major surgeries and hospitalized 3 times, December to May. My bills are now coming in. I am scared. I did nothing wrong. I just lost medical coverage because I was on my husband's plan. Trying to figure this out. I need a plan I can afford going forward, and I have to figure out how to pay off all the copays. The bills are phenomenal. I am trying....I am back at work but I don't make enough to cover it all.

I have United Healthcare care as i have not for 10 years. I went through cancer which they did not want to pay for.
Onky The Hospital told them they would suing them for muder if they did not. Well they paid, now from chemo radiation it messed up my right shoulder tearing the muscles.
Went out if town to a specialist who was in their coverage. Only the day of my appointment I was told that untied Healthcare took them out. Surgeons said they do it all the time.
They scheduled me for surgery on the 23rd of this month. They told me they would call Insurance and if they would not cover. They would find a specialist they trust that is covered. Only there's no way to say they will be tye day of surgery.
I can not move my right arm, if I could afford the $50,000 for the surgery I would pay. Yet i xan not and should not have to. I have no credit after going through cancer because they reprted over $100,000 stating i owed.

Dr. Bai is right on point on what needs to be done to start fixing the system that's producing this problem. This is a Congressional Policy Failure Matter. Policies in favor of Insurance and Big Pharma. But what strikes me most of all about this Lip Service Hearing are the empty seats on the Senator side of this chamber. There are more witnesses than there are Senators here. That should give us a clue as to where Congress' priorities lay.

WHY are we not removing the PROFIT-MOTIVE, for providing us (WE THE PEOPLE)..... the BEST care available... FOR FREE.... It should be a part of what each of us has... FOR BEING an American Citizen ! We should NOT be making money from our fellow human beings' illnesses, and life needs, (Medically-speaking)!. like some CATTLE, or something !...

The main problem is we need to find a way to make Americans more intelligent. If a bill isn’t in your name you don’t have to pay. Go to non profit hospitals. They have to provide free care to uninsured. Use the hills-Burton act.
