I was present for much of this sim and things got really boring/lame for a few years with elam in place. The AI is just really bad and only knows how to play a couple ways.
Something not mentioned about the lack of scoring that I think is incredibly noteworthy is the Elam Ending is set to 3rd Quarter score +35. If the average score around the league has dropped to about 60 points that means for the first 3 quarters of the game only 25 points are scored on average and over 50 percent of points are scored in the 4th Quarter alone. Essentially 75 percent of the game is a useless waste of time.

This is NFL but just look at Philip Rivers, a quarterback that put up numbers similar to Peyton Manning and Drew Brees for years, put together the only time an NFL team has had the #1 offense and #1 defense at the same time, and never even sniffed the Superbowl.
Apparently the game has a behind the scenes "bust probability" where players have a chance to just turn out to be terrible no matter what. I actually kind of like this idea since in real life lots of high draft picks turn out to be pretty disappointing but in a legacy mode, knowledge of the future would give the player an advantage and let you build some absurdly stacked teams. Like you would know that guys like MJ or Kobe are worth giving up pretty much everything to acquire if they always turned out as good as they were in real life, but the fact that they have a chance to be a flop means that you're encouraged to play it more like managers at the time actually would, where they just have to play the odds and hope for the best.
@@CatCheshireThe Every year the players go through a dice roll on progression/regression based on their potential. All players are somewhat weighted towards regression. In any given year well over 50% of the league will either stay the same or get worse. That's why drafted players are necessary.
For Minnesota sports there is no cosmic justice. We are damned for the crimes of others to lose games we were not meant to lose. This series is probably the best argument in favor of the salary cap for fans who _aren't_ fans of dynasties. And that applies to any sport. Sure, the modern cap-era NBA has seen its fair share of powerhouse teams, like the Spurs and Warriors, but it's very rare to see a team win back-to-back titles anymore. That also applies to any sport that has instituted a salary cap. And before anyone comes in with the argument that players make less with a cap, 2 counters: 1) a salary floor is just as effective, if not more, at effecting parity (one of many reasons the Stanley Cup is widely considered the toughest championship trophy to win in major North American pro sports), and 2) most players would make basically the same money whether or not a cap was in place-only the star players "lose out" on all those extra millions.
Its interesting the simulation does not simulate a players union. Ive never played 2k so maybe it just doesnt come up but lock outs are pretty integral part of the way the league evolves so to ignore them is interesting

For instance, when I removed salary cap, salaries didn't really change too much, though super teams did form fast. And I've never seen a rapid decline of Michael Jordan like this. What I find the most bizarre is that the most recent expansion teams seem to be dominating the league. The Timberwolves and Magic dominated for a long time, and then after the Canada expansion, the Raptors and Grizzlies are in the finals (I'm posting this half-way through watching this, so things could change later on). That was the last 4 expansion teams at the time. But we didn't see the Hornets and Heat get that big of a boost, but it can't be a coincidence.

Philadelphia sports teams squandering the very few generational talents that stumble haplessly into their ranks is entirely in-character for them. If the Sixers drafted MJ then Nike would've gone bankrupt
Since Michael Jordan ends up being a rather average player, do companies that relied on his endorsement end up differently? Are Nike shoes a value brand sold at Walmart? Does McDonald's end up second to Burger King? Coca Cola loses to Pepsi? Gatorade is out and Red Bull gets dumped on coaches now? Cats and dogs living together... MASS HYSTERIA!
It is so funny that in a sim that is run by AI the worst team in league history is the most dominant. They are the 90/00s equivalent of the 50s Celtics
the "player from the team you're controlling showing up during the finals celebration even if your team isn't involved" thing is a glitch no matter what dimension you're playing your Eras in
I think the thing that tipped the 90s in the Timberwolves favor was Hakeem leaving the Magic for the Warriors with not enough of a supporting cast to supplant the two top teams in the league. Also, I really wanna know who from the 80s/90s in this dimension become head coaches in this universe, cuz I kinda wanna know who's coaching these teams and if it's anyone we would recognize

I think the Vancouver Grizzlies won more in their first season in the fumble dimension than they did at any point in Vancouver IRL
Im happy for Chris Bosh as he was able to snag the Utah Jazz with the 3rd Pick😂
The Clippers being an Eastern conference team into the 2000s (unless I missed a rule change somewhere along the way) is crazy
conferences aren't factored into the playoffs. top 16 records regardless of conference
@@jameswatson8387 ngl, I had completed forgotten about that, after the debacle that stemmed from the salary cap/luxury tax double whammy
I feel like Kofie talking about 14-seed San Antonio a few minutes earlier should've reminded me of it
The worst part of this timeline: No Space Jam would get made.
Very true. But I think with a different star (Hakeem, maybe?) that kind of movie could still be made, it would just look different, maybe be a different movie altogether. Butterfly effect and allat. Who knows what happens in an alternate Space Jam - Beyblades play basketball? Hakeem becomes a Beyblade?! 😆
They make it with Clyde Drexler now.
@@danangell5482 Could be!
I’m a Minnesota fan, and knowing how sad and pathetic this franchise is makes me happy that we’re basically the 90s Bulls on steroids
I wish we had KG tho
Man, alternate universe Minnesotans must be loving all of this.
Im so excited about this fumble dimension. I cannot wait to see the Yao, Wade, and Duncan 76ers LMAO
“I’m not joining the Jazz, y’all are joining me!” -Chris Bosh
As a timberwolves fan this was so fun to watch
I just realized that in the Fumble Dimension, Magic Johnson did not retire in 1991 because he never got AIDS.
The only way the Timberwolves can win the finals is through a fumble dimension simulation
I'm fully expecting Darko to be the most dominant force in the league in this simulation.
As a Timberwolves fan, just let us have this one man😂
Thank you for doing this. It's insane that all these changes that are clearly terrible are a possibility in the game.
Why do the Magic and Twolves have a near monopoly on talent at the start with the salary rules? How do the rules cause that?
Philadelphia sports teams squandering the very few generational talents that stumble haplessly into their ranks is entirely in-character for them. If the Sixers drafted MJ then Nike would've gone bankrupt
Michael Jordan is the sacrifice needed to make Minnesota good.
I think Hakeem takes over all those spots
2:31 in my Kevin Hart voice
That's too much magic, that is too much magic.
😂😂😅
It is so funny that in a sim that is run by AI the worst team in league history is the most dominant. They are the 90/00s equivalent of the 50s Celtics
Timberwolves crushing the league and winning multiple championships? Yeah, I can see why this simulation is breaking reality.
This series continues to make me feel so uneasy. Thanks, Kofie, keep it up!
I love the Fumblewolves
the "player from the team you're controlling showing up during the finals celebration even if your team isn't involved" thing is a glitch no matter what dimension you're playing your Eras in
Yeah it happened quite a few times in this sim.
10:30 ... This just became the best series in Fumble Dimension history!
The Spurs winning a playoff series at a 14 seed reminds of when I did a conference-less simulation of the 1984 NBA Playoffs on What If? Sports and the Spurs won the Finals as a 16 seed.
Would be cool to see a Fumble Dimension of Michael Jordan playing the rest of his career in the MLB
Would the game of Basketball even survive if this played out in an alternate timeline?
Absolutely not the league would have been bankrupt by the 2000s
@@KayvonixWith the rules like this, rookies would be paid way too much
@@fortynights1513 exactly its not sustainable
One could legitimately question whether this timeline or the Stupid Crapface 5’4” timeline was worse for the game of basketball.
@@Kayvonix
So what does an NBA that stupidly bankrupts itself mean for the sport as whole? Would a phoenix league eventually rise?
> Timberwolves championships
This truly is an unbelievable timeline
Pretty Good, Episode 12: Troy Men's basketball coach Don Maestri packs up some VHS tapes, sends them to Paul Westhead, the coach at Loyola-Marymount, and...devours some of the most radioactive, mutated basketball the world has ever seen.
Fumble Dimension, Episode 13 if you count all the two-parter episodes as one episode: "In 1990, the NBA did the same exact thing but with 2020's Iowa football. It's the Fumble Dimension. Time orb shape have no meaning here."
Love this series
As a Wolves fan, I'm well aware that a simulation is the only way we'll win multiple titles
Best series on TH-cam, please keep making Fumble Dimension videos! I would love to see the NFL revisited in the future but only being able to call one DEFENSIVE play (keep special teams plays separate) and seeing what happens
Vancouver winning that title is the most out-of-nowhere title win I've ever seen, in real life or simulated.
I was shocked Hakeem didn't decide to join Shaq and Robinson in Minnesota.
So hyped, wonder if this episode is the first magic chip
2 years, $319mil is so bananas, this sim is hysterical. Thank you for the laughs.
