    Same thing with my 2023 3500 GMC AT4. I was on my way to Yellowstone from California and upon climbing HWY 80 by Donner Pass towing my 41ft 5th wheel, it did the exact same thing you explained in your video. The only difference was that when I bought a code reader at oreilys,(the good one) about 180$, it did not clear the codes. I had to physically disconnect the batteries to reset the codes. Then I could use it normally unless I was climbing up a hill. I figured out that if you let off the throttle right away when you feel it about to hesitate or shift hard from 6th to 7th it lets the RPM's go down and it shifts smoothly or put it in neutral , let the rpms go down and put back in gear. I did that alot. LMAO... I continued my vacation and didnt let our Yellowstone trip get ruined because of a bad Valve body. LOL The best thing to do is let the tranny rest or cool down to have better effectiveness of it delaying the code or symptom again. But its still under warranty as i have only 28k miles.

      Sucks man I’m sorry. Next time use the gear limiter to keep it from shifting out of 6 and just deal with it until GM gets parts.
      Then go by a ford or ram

    If you shift to neutral before it goes to limp mode and shift back to drive it will shift into the next gear. My truck does it 6-7 gear. I just shift to neutral and then back to drive and it will shift into next gears without issues. Hope this helps everyone with this junky valve body

    Same problem, 2023 Sierra 3500, 20k miles. Left family and cargo trailer stranded 500 miles from home the first time. Warranty covered the tow of the truck, but they said the trailer was my problem as was getting back to the dealer to pick up the truck. First dealer cleared code and said nothing wrong with it. Did it again 2 weeks later and it has been at the local dealer ever since, which will be 40 days ago tomorrow. Dealer said it would be "several weeks" and they had over 30 valve bodies already on back order!!

    • @mjljacobful
      @mjljacobful 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You don’t have a 10 speed Allison buddy… you have a Chevy transmission!!! Chevy bought the right to the logo so they can continue putting the Allison badge on the hood. If they do not do that, then Ford would be able to put the Allison logo on their hood as well because the 10 speed in the Chevy and GMC are the same transmission that’s put in the Ford super duties. GMC or General Motors and Ford built that transmission together in house. it was stamped of approval with Allison because it met all the requirements that they test their transmissions with. So to finally put this to rest, any heavy duty with a 10 speed out of a GMC or Chevy is not an Allison! Unfortunately, when you tell a diehard GM guy this they get really pissed off because they do not want to hear what the truth is. GM buying that logo and spending $40 million on that logo meant a lot to that brand.. five years they will pay another 40+ million to keep that logo again.
      Anyways, try going to Ford and asking their mechanic shop if they can order the part because it is the same transmission lol .

    I have a 2023 Silverado 2500 custom 23k miles. Same issue. It’s been at the dealer ship for a month now and now parts yet. My brother has the 22 2500 and his truck is beside mine at the dealer ship waiting for a valve body. The dealer said they’re 2 more in front of ours waiting on valve body’s. This is my first Chevrolet. I switched from rams because of transmission issues and now I’m at the same point with Chevrolet.

    I've been without my 2021 2500 for almost three months now. Started with a slight slip/hesitation between 2nd and 3rd. Then escalated to redline RPM's and no movement from a dead stop. Brought it to the dealer and they replaced a valve body in about 1 week. Pulled out of the dealer and within 10 miles I had to pull over on the highway because the truck lost forward movement at about 65 MPH. They took it back, "tore down" the transmission and said they had to order a part and a wiring harness, which took 2 months to come in. Got the truck back last week, drove about 8 miles, same thing. Back to the dealer. I opened a case with General Motors but they've been no help at all. Got a call two days ago that the truck was ready but the mechanic was going to take it home and drive it all weekend, which I thought was great idea. The dealership called me yesterday and said the mechanic experienced "a different issue" but thinks they were able to pinpoint the problem based on this new issue. From what I've been hearing and reading online, this new 10 speed is problematic. Your video is 8 months old, hopefully they were able to resolve your issue. If they were, and you know what the problem was, can you share it please?

    I’ve been experiencing this same issue in my 2022 3500at4 Duramax since about 12,000 miles. My truck will not throw a check engine light but had complete power loss and truck acted like it died when it downshifted when pulling a hill while towing. Transmission has minor slipping weekly since 12,000 miles. I’m currently suing GM in a Lemon Lawsuit because the dealership refuses to fix and GM denies fault. My truck currently has 37,000 miles on it and has had persistent transmission issues for over a year and a half. Frustrating to say the least.

    I have a 2020 Duramax with the Ten Speed transmission. Had a limp mode issue all of a sudden while not pulling anything. Dealership replaced the TCM and fixed the issue. That was 80,000 miles. Now at 118,00 miles, today while pulling a 42 foot fifth wheel from Bangor ME headed for o KY, it did it again in NY state. I limped the camper into a campground and have a dealership set to look at it at 8am in the morning. Sure hoping they can get it going so I can get home. Hey my dude, I want to thank you and everyone else who records when they're having issues with the 10L1000. I hope it KICKS GM IN THE ASS! That being said, I am the only Trans tech in my chevy dealer. I have 1 truck right now waiting for a valve body on backorder since July 26th. They authorized a transmission replacement today. Which means valve bodies for Allison are so far on backorder that GM is willing to replace the transmission for customer satisfaction. If that doesn't tell you something. I feel for you fellows that paid 70 or 80 or even 100 grand for a truck that you can't use. It's robbery frankly. On a side note. I've been seeing a pattern that the 10L1000, as a whole, only last about 100k miles. So take that for what it's worth.

      Question for ya. When you used your exhaust brake did it seem to mess up more? Mine seems to. It won’t even let me turn the Exhaust brake on sometimes and this is when it seems to be running fine and no check engine light is on. Definitely won’t let me turn it on when the check engine light is on. I deliver buildings everyday all day 3 or 4 a day and I need a properly work transmission.

    Have a 2024 2500HD that is gas, but my A/C compressor went out at 55k miles and picked it up after the repair and the same day my transmission valve body went out. I’m probably going to trade it in on something else. All repairs were covered under warranty but I’ve gone 6 weeks without my vehicle that I use for work as well. Never towed anything with the truck but put about 50k miles a year on it. Very disappointing. Neither part should have e failed and both had over a two week back order wait time on the parts from GM.

    The issue on the GM 8 speeds was due to the wrong fluid. The original fluid grabbed too much moisture from the air. Mobil1 came up with a fix and they even slightly revised that one more time. With the proper fluid via a triple flush from the dealer, the 8 speeds eventually worked very well. I wonder if these 10 speeds need a better/different fluid? Have a Ford Super Duty Powerstroke on order and was looking to order a 24 Sierra 2500 HD AT4X diesel, I'm disappointed to see so many of these HD 10 speeds having issues that GM can't readily fix.

    When you obtained your banks IDash did you get the inline tuning module? If you did get this module what tune is it on? its got 5 presets. I had a very similar issue on my 2022 Duramax L5P. When you run higher levels of power on this transmission you need to also increase the transmission line pressure to avoid "Funny" shifting and behavior. Long story short mine would sputter really bad when trying to downshift from 10th to 9th on the highway to pass but would clear up as soon as i let off the throttle. The only thing you can do to increase line pressure is getting an aftermarket TCM with proper corresponding tunes.
