Hey guys! At around 15:20 the video gets very choppy. I think I'd either overheated my GoPro or perhaps its performance was lowered by the dying battery. Not really sure, but there's nothing I can do about it I'm afraid! Sorry! This video felt a bit long-winded when I was editing, but I hope you guys enjoyed seeing something a little bit different! There is further information about the mechanical I suffered in the description of the video. There are photos on our Instagram too! Cheers!
You know, under normal circumstances I would have definitely upgraded the mech and shifter to XT.... When I was at Crankworx, Fox had a 30% off sale and I would have upgraded the shock at the time too! But I'm saving for the next adventure! So unfortunately I can't justify it, so I'll just have to fix it! I like the way you think, though! 😜
Terrific work all round, Dave! Sorry, but I couldn't watch it right through, because I developed a little bout of angina, about the time you were just starting your first lap. I hasten to add that I'm quite used to angina. I take medication for it each morning and if. as happened just now, I have an attack, that's when I use the 'spray under the tongue' trick. Anyway, I stayed with you through all the weaving and the jumps, etc. - starting to feel travel sickness with it!! Bad luck re the derailleur disaster but I guess you must get used to that kind of thing with off-road riding and especially racing. Congrats to you and the rest of your team! I guess you'll give another race a go, now that you've sampled the 'scene'.
Oh dear, Brian! I hope you're feeling alright now! Yeah, the derailleur was unfortunate, but thankfully we still scraped through. I would have been really annoyed if we had lost the victory because of it! We'll see about next year. There's another event a couple of weeks after it that I may try instead. Watch this space.
Nice one mate. You'll have to learn what they do in the MegaAvalanche...down hill single track at 70 plus kmh wiping mud off the camera lens with one hand 😊
Haha, yeah I'm aware of Megavalanche! It's funny because usually I'm hyper-aware of keeping the lens clean - it's spotless in ALL of our videos - but I was just so focused on the race that I didn't even remember I was wearing it until it beeped because it had run out of battery! Plus I'm pretty out of practice! 😅 Cheers!
@@OldBumOnABike - Keep at them! I had to really chase bikes online to get my issues sorted. They never got back to me ever - I always had to be the one to contact them and ask if anything had changed.
@@VeloObscura nah, I'm not letting it go. I'm happy to keep the bike, but not at the price of a 2023 model. It's basically the same bike, but it's the principal...

Thanks, Ian! I'm very lucky to have this MTB park right on my doorstep! 🥰
Woo Hoo!!!! Go you good thing!! First comment!!!
Thank-you, mate! Had a blast!😁🤙
Looked like a great day. 👍👍. Hmmm my crystal ball is showing me an upgraded derailleur somewhere in your future. 🤔🙂

Well done on the win. It looked like everyone was having a relaxed race in the pits?😂
Fun in the pits, but all business out on course! 😆

No dropper post on your bike?
There is! A rather huge 200mm one! 😁

@VeloObscura I'm still waiting about news on my new Marin. I'm back on the bike again, my fattie... but loving it.
