I've missed this channel! And what a comeback! :D Love it! Used to play this a lot as a kid, and was terrified of it.

Yeah, the nostalgia is strong with this one. Back in 1994, when I got my first PC - 386 with super fast 2x speed CD-ROM drive - I also got a Virgin double-pack, The 7th Guest + Dune CD. Good times.

Nice fair look at this game :) I grew up during this era as well but I’ve only just got around to actually playing the game for my channel - it’s odd and unfortunate that all the game’s strengths at the time are exactly its weaknesses now (long transitions, the quality of the videos, etc) but it definitely deserves respect for the era that it kickstarted :)

I always appreciate how you put an old-school game into a context that is often lost to modern gamers, whether that be technologically or genre-wise.

This game was groundbreaking at the time. I couldn't believe the graphics. Those puzzles though. I'm actually surprised I got to the microscope nightmare as an 11 year old. But no further. After weeks of trying to solve it, I just gave up. If I recall correctly, it's right after that horrible maze that I was literally stuck in for like 2 months. So I was done haha. The soup can puzzle was also just the WORST. I always preferred the puzzles in Sanatarium. They were tricky, but none seemed this insane. Great review per usual, Sir.

Great review of a retro classic.
20:51 didn’t have to put in that thought.

I dont know if you have, but would you please check out Sanitarium from 1998?

Yeah I would love to do a video on that game. Funny you should as as I am doing a video about win3.1->XP generation retro games that do not run on ScummVM or DosBox and how to play them and Sanatorium is one of the games I use in the demos.

This was a joy to watch. Played it with my dad and grandpa growing up (I was born in 96). The "cheesy" horror still creeps me out- just the soundtrack elicits goosebumps. Took my dad two weeks of daily attempts to crack the microscope puzzle.
When I replayed the game a few years ago, after 6 hours under the scope, I resorted to the AnalogBit AI solver after I'd thought I had a good start and was about to hit a losing turning point. It's a ROUGH puzzle
Your tech and production insights really added to the review and I learned a lot. May I ask- where did you find the deleted scenes and production footage?
First time I've watched a vid of yours, won't be the last. Cheers
