It's interesting to me to examine the texture quality in late-production ships from CIG; you have to work much harder than on earlier ships to find one of dodgy resolution. This ship's design thinking reflects well-worked personas and experience journeys. Kudos.
I really like the look of MISC ships. i know some people see them as shiny space.. erm.. "sausages" but I like the very straight forward, no-nonsense look and brushed steel/aluminium finish. I don't think i'll be using a Hull series any time soon though. The little cargo gameplay I do is only for the selling of refined ore.. and with that i prefer to keep my cargo inside my ship.. like a Hercules C2 or Caterpillar. That said I do look forward to seeing the larger Hulls come into the game and what gameplay they bring with them. I'm sure we'll see convoys going along established tradelanes, with eager pirates lying in wait.
Man, I never want these videos to end. Always such a relaxing and refined experience. They feel somehow... luxurious. I guess it's like Morph always says, luxury is in the attention to detail.
Your video work is astounding. The sequences you cut, the way the camera pans, selection of environments, the music, your narration and content. I wish my PC would render the game like your videos. It's so beautiful and immersive. The Hull A looks amazing, and I would love to have one, one day.
Wow, that interior is really crisp - looks fantastic! Lots of nice subtle detailing on the outer hull, too. I also love the finish of the bunk enclosure - I want to see this living area fitout in the MISC Expanse and the bunk fitout and lights control retrofitted to the Prospector. Thanks for yet another well produced video from the practised eye of an architect - really enjoy your videos and narration :) PS - As a 'deluxe tier starter ship' (in with the likes of the Titan, 'lancer and Nomad) - sure, the dedicated space-truckers will be happy and will benefit from faster cargo turnaround when cargo refactor is feature complete in the PU, or close to. But, boy they've got some hard graft in front of them to earn the "space cheds" to expand their fleet! - As a 'starter' ship though, it will significantly (if not, severely) limit your initial options, which is perhaps not ideal for a starter ship. Even box-missions may not be an option, unless your character can 'place' the mission cargo boxes manually on to the external cargo racks. Clearly, "illegal monitors" and ship-to-ship bounty missions are also 'off the table' with this ship (which won't bother dedicated space-truckers, mind!). - Again: With current trade routes, profits with 64SCU are rather on the small side, so it will take quite some time if just cargo-hauling to be able to purchase even a Mustang Alpha in-game with UEC.
Dude I always get so excited when I see a new Architect Reviews video, they are honestly my favorite star citizen videos to watch. The quality is INSANE! Love these videos man keep it up!
I'm a Freelancer MAX kinda trucker. And at $140 for twice the capacity it's arguably a better deal than the Hull A, especially when you factor in the better guns and equipment you get on it.
Twice the capacity won't help if you need twice the loading time to load it up after cargo refactor. You'll also be exposed on the planet surface for longer with the risk of being pirated. That said, both ships obviously has their uses and you can't really go wrong with either, just be aware of their limitations and pick the one that suits you best
Love the MAX, it is one of the ships I bought in game. It's is reasonably fast in atmosphere and I use an XL1 quantum drive. It's also one of the few ships with paint options available in game. Are you actually flying trade routes with it? I'm mostly using it for ground vehicle gameplay at the moment.
This is another great example of how good CIG have become with regards to ship design! Great video, this was a really good presentation of the ship. As a fan of MISC and a former EVE hauler, I'm looking forward to seeing the bigger ships of the Hull series and the cargo refactor. With that, I hope there will be actual entry level cargo gameplay that makes the smaller haulers viable. Either by adding low volume/high value and high risk or time sensitive commodities or missions that scale up well. As far as I can tell, most cargo pilots at the moment try to go for the C2 as fast as possible because most smaller ships don't offer a relevant profit.
I would love to spend my whole time just hauling across the verse in this ship. One thing that's missing from my freelancer is a living quarters that feels like you could live in it. I can't wait to try this out.
What I really appreciate about the Hull A, same as with the Pisces, is also its design is exactly what it's supposed to be. Not trying to be something more or less. It's functional and it's doing its job, that's it. I really like that.
I follow your ship reviews religiously Morphologis. I'm always engaged in your descriptions and overall assessments, and truly find an immersive comfort in seeing someone involved as much as you are. Seeing these videos are a core component of my enjoyment of Star Citizen and keep me consistently holding a hopeful focus on the game's final release. Thank you. I've never been primarily focused on cargo mechanics in games like these until I started playing this game. I think that these ships are beyond essential. Having the option to take a break from all the chaos and adventure, with ships like these, is a wholesome addition and in a way another adventure of its own. A very nice addition to cargo role ships indeed, however, I think I'll continue to stick to the Raft for my cargo running purposes. It's a little bit bulkier, but I greatly enjoy the crew quarters and the overall feel and clean "Tractor/Utility" design Argo has laid bare.
I do not understand how the designers still miss the importance of a proper downward view with all the vertical landing hangars, pads and general planet side landing spots ... it kind of seems important to see where you want to land.
They intend to add a holographic 'Landing Display' similar to the one used in E:D - it actually was in-game previously (back in the v2.x versions, iirc), but was removed because it only worked on pre-mapped pads, and thus wasn't compatible with their PG Planets in the v3.x releases. CIG have said it will come back when the ship displays are updated to use the new Building Blocks UI framework, and when BB itself is updated to better support 3D displays.
Like Geoff said, there will be a landing UI that will give you adequate info to land safely, plus many ships, if not all, will have cameras underneath to be able to see where the ground is. They already had a sneak peak video showing external cameras on ships, so this isn't a "theory crafting"
THIS CHANNEL IS AMAZING!!! You take your precious time, to make these high-quality videos that in my opinion, express star citizen in the way its intended to be: clean, aesthetic, pristine, and many other categories. Keep doing what you're doing!
Excellent review! So stoked for the Hull A(moreso for the B as I imagine it will be the perfect middle ground between size and cargo capacity). The hab area in particular is amazingly done and I could foresee using the HULL A as a mobile home...
Great video as always! Though you forgot to mention the bed that doubles as an escape pod. While not functional yet, you can see the panel on the outside of the ship that is label where it would shot out of when functional
For the longest time, I had a Hull-B. I likes the idea of landing planet side with that much cargo, but during the last IAE, I turned it into a Ralien. While I find the cargo scu of the A good, There are other ships that can function as a cargo hauler with more cargo. For entry level however, The A looks to be a solid ship. With its introduction, It means SC is getting just that much closer to actual release. My question is this though. With no on board tractor beams how is the cargo going to be loaded onto the plates for transport.
Everytime i see your architect reviews, it's obvious that CIG is improving their design, taking notice of earlier mistakes and adding in additional details. Your analysis and video editing on the other hand, hasn't changed one bit, flawless as ever.
For me this is how I would like to see all misc ships turn out. Add the slight console curvature and window placements to the twin seats of the Starfarer and Freelancer and it’s going to make the misc range so sweet. This gives me more hope for the Endeavor and Odyssey as capitals as the Starfarer was already my favorite bridge design for large seats. Really not keen on the three hanging seat designs of RSI and Anvil, or the Drake one in front of the other. As a ship I’ll probably pick the Hull B rather than the A up but already have a Hull C. If I could start again I’d probably start the game out with only Hull B (possibly A) and a Prospector. Really this would be all i need.
My current early game ship is RAFT and i think i will stay there for now as RAFT is still little bit more what i seek which its larger living space and Tractor Beam etc.. which is essential for me and really usefull when i plan to use it as support ship for my BMM. But Hull A looks amazing that lighting is pure bliss
The Hull A is a delightful little ship. I've been testing the hell out of it in 3.17 PTU. Now I'm really encouraged for the rest of the HULL line (GIB Hull C!). Thank you, CIG, for the fantastic work!
Cargo refactor will dictate which one of the haulers I'd lean into more. Right now I have the M2, Cat, Taurus and RAFT. Cat will likely stay in because of modularity. M2 will be a mainstay as well as a vehicle hauler. The Taurus and RAFT are on the chopping block though. Cargo shielding and how quickly I can load and unload will determine which one I'll keep as a hauler.
I do think people put too much into the view from the cockpit, the UI tells you all you need to know and because you're often traveling at such fast speeds the UI will tell you before you can see trouble or danger, plus being a game you can go third person for best view but not as immersive. Haulers, bombers don't need a great view from the cockpit, personally I feel CIG have caved into community backlash to easy and the community need to trust CIG more as gamers want a gamey game like good view for really no reason in this type of game, a driving game well that's a totally different story in terms of view from a car. When we get a landing radar you see what I mean, you won't need a good view and you'll never react fast enough than a computer UI telling way before you can see.
Looking at that kitchenette while you're talking about all the physicalized inventory changes and immersion stuff just makes me imagine a cooking minigame. Which would actually be kind of cool to let you interact with the space rather than it just being set dressing.
Honestly Morph, I have a suspicion the lower cockpit windows are entirely the ship designer's response to all the criticism about other MISC ship cockpits. Specifically the response is meant to be something along the lines of the following: "You want more window space on MISC cockpits? Fine you got it! You won't be able to see out of it, BUT YOU'VE GOT IT!!!!!" 😝
The Hull-A makes me excited to see the Odyssey at some point, and also further lament the state of the older Freelancers. I do hope they go back and update the 'Lancer series to be as great as this newcomer.
I have the entire HULL series and love the designs of them. The HULL A can land laden with cargo so has some decent value to it. Though the Hull B might be the sweet spot if it can land. Thanks for sharing ♥
This game just gets better every year with every new patch. I really can't wait for the Vulture. I have been playing since 2017, and that is the one ship I want the most.
MISC might be my favorite ship company, and I'm glad to see how well the Hull A turned out. Mostly due to my hopes for the eventual gold pass on the Lancer series.
I'd get rid of this long empty corridor that just holds components. I'd move them into living quarters' floor as a homage to European-style trucks that house engine and transmission right under cabin. The whole ship feels disproportionally long for the amount of cargo it holds IMO. I do love updated MISC internal design though, it doesn't feel like a morgue dissection room anymore, yet there is still trademarked alien weirdness to it (i.e. food dispenser, lack of seating despite the size of the room, absence of the sink and the stovetop).
But all you're really do is move where the bulkhead is - there's no 'free space' in the hab area to install / access the components, without adding additional wallspace.
@@logicalChimp but there is. Look how Nomad did it. Putting components into ceiling and floor is the way to go. Hull A is really oversized for it's cargo spindle
re 4:16, technically the Freelancer does have the world's tiniest airlock before entering the hab section from the side door. Everyone (including me) forgets about its existence though as the second door doesn't reclose automatically so most of the time when flying the ship, you're entering in directly to the hab. I am hoping for a Freelancer refresh in this style, the Hull-A interior is soooo good.
Looking at the Hull A really shows you how much better the Freelancer Max interior could be. Such a good use of space in the Hull. I look forward to the inevitable redesign of the Freelancer series.
Freelancer MkII - Also needs an explorer variant with medical bed in the mini cargo hold / airlock and a split in cargo bay 1/3 - 2/3 split in the cargo so you have an explorer / bike hangar and a small cargo hold of 20 SCU
The Freelancers do have an airlock. From the rear ramp, there are two doors before enteringg the crew area. From the airlock onthe roof there is a door before entering the crew area, and From the side door, there is a door that stays closed while the outside door and ladder is open. so.... Relaint, That one is bad, but Freelancer's sleeping crew would be just fine. Having said, that I wish they'd re-design the Freelancer's crew area to be more like the area on the Hull A. Can't wait until the larger Hulls are in game (the C, D, E) Great ship to have! :)
I'm excited to see the Hull series coming out! I've got the B and am looking forward to seeing it in game - just curious as to how much cargo it'll end up carrying!
The quality of the work on these ships is just amazing. I see a vid on SC pop up, am blown away by the work being done, then wonder when this will ship. 🙂
If you look at the details with lights and all that, you just see the many years of work they have ahead of them bringing all the older ships up to that standard.... yet year after year adding more ships to the pile, a truly never ending project.
5:30 I should point out here, although it sounds correct in this use, when something is poignant, it is evoking a strong sense of sadness or dread. In your defense, it has been used historically to mean something distinct or noticeable like a smell or taste.
Im also very excited for future ships, especially the MISC Odyssey, im positive they will turn out even better with every ship. Love the details of the hull a. Nice video as always, keep up the good work!
I'm quite impressed with the Hull A. I'm more interested in the Hull C but depending on how the trade system works I could see the Hull A being a nice option for a shorter more relaxed play session.
I think the viability of the hull series is defined by the impediment other haulers without exterior cargo will suffer from the cargo refactoring. If loading takes ages in internally storing haulers it will be great. If it is only a 2 min inconvenience the Hull series is too specialized and relies on escort in unlawful systems. So my guess is that the cargo refactoring will be brutal to internally storing ships ^^
Well I guess it's time to be a space trucker in SC as well. I mean my wife is never gonna let me live this down! Drive truck in real life, come home play, when I was still playing Elite Dangerous, and not out exploring I was running type 9s full of cargo, then it was and still is ats (American Trucking Simulator), now the Hull A is in my sites. Yep I'm a prisoner of the highway on Earth and in space. Great video by the way Morph!
Been waiting for this. I will be excited to see how the hauling gameplay turns out once it grows bigger. Maybe a Multicrew, longrange hauler, where people from different timezones can fly at different times of the day? We will see. So yeah the hull A is something i will probably get into.
I agree, my gripes are similarly minor and maybe someone who hasn't driven trucks wouldn't notice. Towel storage could use a sliding window, why have TP at all (a bidet would make more sense on a ship), why is that random knife and cutting board out instead of stored, why aren't the windows just in the floor? Otherwise, 9/10 for making a "space 18-wheeler", well done. Next, an Optimus Prime paint job.
I'm eager to see how you would go about landing the larger Hull series ships on a planet. As well as the alternative hauler: The Railen I also didn't know this was in-game yet, since you can't purchase it in-game, and the loaner ship is the freelancer for when it cannot be used. Also, the Hull A is 90 USD now. as of 10/6/2022.
Stunning vessel… Great showcase… I love MISC ships… stylish and functional with gadgets, although cargo capacity on Hull A is fairly small, compared to a constellation, but the design is compact which appeals, I will be adding it to my fleet though… excited to test out
I don't even play this game and it'd be my choice! It's hard to blend "work vehicle" with sleek and modern, but they really did well here. The cockpit was kept clean without exposing excess wires/ plumbing or going the other way with crowded info panels and busy lights. The empty panels don't feel like wasted space- the dashboard is clean because the SHIP is simple and straightforward. It doesn't pretend to be more than it's humble purpose, but it's gonna look sleek and respectable doing it!
It has a nice setup for a 2-up pilot/driver arrangement as one might expect for long haul freight. Nothing feels out of place or just slapped on for nice visuals, I agree with you on the utility of those under console windows, but they are a nod to the windows present in some truck cabs to help avoid collisions with vehicles in blind spots.
IIt looks / feels like it's set up strictly for solo operation - only 1 suit locker, only one bunk, insufficient personal (and food) storage for two, etc.
@@kirrimkerman8784 Hotbunking might explain the single bunk... but doesn't explain the lack of personal storage (for food etc) or the single suit locker... (not to mention hotbunking is iirc uncommon outside the military/navy)
@@logicalChimp well. I dunno, the hull a is the smallest anyway and the bigger Hulls have also more crew capacity, atleast thats what's written on the matrix.
I got to try the Hull A this month. I started the game a couple of years ago with the Nomad atarter package. The then star citizen version of a Winnebago. I can't not have Spaceballs flashbacks when i use the Nomad. The Hull A though, has really well thought out interior. So I'd compare it to a Sprinter camper van.
I really hope in the future they weigh convenience more than realism when it comes to inventory. The storage panels and suit storage sounds nice, but i think it would be better for players to keep a local inventory for the ship as it is currently implemented, then use those additional storage nodes as a sort of lockbox or even something like preset equipment loadouts for the suit locker so you could just click and swap what your wearing with what's in the locker.
Honestly I this puts the Freelancer that I love and cherish to shame. The Freelancer now looks and feels as old as its OG concept all thanks to this amazing little hauler

@@SuperPope69 You'll start to notice the cracks eventually. I think I initially became a backer in 2016, and was playing with every new update, but I'm at the stage now where I go on long black-out periods while I wait for some of the more annoying stuff to get ironed out.
@@ugrena7419 I mean I was playing for a week and a half before 3.17 and noticed some of the new bugs (I've died 4 times to the elevator yanking) my very first package delivery was unfinishable and had to abandon it while standing at the location. I have the added benefit though that none of my irl friends have good PCs so in the time I've had the game a little over half my gaming is on my series x so it'll be harder for me to get burnout. I will say as someone from the outside in that's watched this game for years the last couple years have seemed promising which is why I decided to jump in. I get where you're coming from though, I've played No Mans Sky since day 1 and am in the same boat as you with that game
@@ugrena7419 wow, just stop right there...no need to try to convert people to your negative idealogy induced by your dried-out, toxic husk. You don't have patience for being a playtester and dealing with bugs - that's fair enough! But don't go around moaning about the game and trying to draw people away from it...you're not "saving" anyone, you're just giving yourself more risk for a stroke
It's interesting to me to examine the texture quality in late-production ships from CIG; you have to work much harder than on earlier ships to find one of dodgy resolution. This ship's design thinking reflects well-worked personas and experience journeys. Kudos.
The smooth frames of this do make me wonder what components your own tower's running Morph. Great vid as always!
It's called video editing. Only showing you the best scenes played on a low pop server during low play times in that region.
I’m sure they’ll make this the first AI driven cargo ship, for quanta.
My money is on the hull c for first Ai, they litteraly Said it was the most common ship in the verse.
@@fixo5132 only problem is they have to add it first
As a player who is mostly looking forward to this aspect of the game, I am really excited by the MISC Hull series.
Can't wait for the Hull B to be shown and, of course, Morph-reviewed.
Have had that baby in my account since the old LTI-days.
Yes, was waiting for this .... thank you for another ship review.
8:00 I see you are still scarred by that time Linus came on your stream
Thanks for yet another well produced video from the practised eye of an architect - really enjoy your videos and narration :)
PS - As a 'deluxe tier starter ship' (in with the likes of the Titan, 'lancer and Nomad) - sure, the dedicated space-truckers will be happy and will benefit from faster cargo turnaround when cargo refactor is feature complete in the PU, or close to.
I would love to see the Freelancer series get a mild hull-a style rework.
Actually Freelancer has a small human-sized airlock as well. When entering from the ladder there is another door you have to open to access the ship.
I had a Hull series for a while, i absolutely loved how much it felt like an Airstream camper. Looking forward to that Hull C
They could add a camera to the mfds or dash for ships that don't have that vertical view. Like a backup camera for a spaceship.
Yeah I quite like the idea of the hull B as a station to outpost hauler for my org
Editing Morph: Drops the needle on firefly vibes
Me: Smashes the like button
Great video as always! Though you forgot to mention the bed that doubles as an escape pod. While not functional yet, you can see the panel on the outside of the ship that is label where it would shot out of when functional
Seeing how the Hull-A lookss, it makes me even more excited for the other Hulls especially the Hull-B
I think your choice of music towards the beginning of the episode was spot on. Well video'd mister video maker.
I think seating is often overlooked in those small ships. They all have a rather big kitchenette but nowhere to sit down and eat your meal.
The ship looks and is designed amazingly! I love when such new ships and features come out, as they show how CIG has improved and continues to improve
The light setting you referred to as red alert is more likely (well I think at least) a 'darken ships' mode
"If you have a guest on board that can easily grab a weapon"
Who else is thinking about linus from the cola with linus media group (ltt)
Hey, the Hercules also has light control buttons in the beds! They're really tiny, but they work :)
didn t that came with the MSR?
@@kaollachan you might be right, though haven't checked that one!
Production quality on these vids just keeps going up. Love this stuff Morph.
A return to my favorite TH-cam series!!
Specifically the response is meant to be something along the lines of the following:
"You want more window space on MISC cockpits?
It is a happy day when Morphologis posts a vid.
I agree...too small a ratio of cargo space to other space.
Yes! The moment most of us have been waiting for: Another Architect Reviews serie
Looking at the Hull A really shows you how much better the Freelancer Max interior could be. Such a good use of space in the Hull. I look forward to the inevitable redesign of the Freelancer series.
Freelancer MkII - Also needs an explorer variant with medical bed in the mini cargo hold / airlock and a split in cargo bay 1/3 - 2/3 split in the cargo so you have an explorer / bike hangar and a small cargo hold of 20 SCU
seeing that giant table in front of the cockpit still present in misc ships makes me worried about the odyssey
400i's medicine cabinet can be opened as well. Was disappointed to find every review seemed to miss that
5:30 I should point out here, although it sounds correct in this use, when something is poignant, it is evoking a strong sense of sadness or dread. In your defense, it has been used historically to mean something distinct or noticeable like a smell or taste.
Best production value yet there Morph. Well done!
Im also very excited for future ships, especially the MISC Odyssey, im positive they will turn out even better with every ship. Love the details of the hull a. Nice video as always, keep up the good work!
Love the "simplistic style"(is that the right term?) and smooth camera work of your videos.
Cool review , looking forward to see the larger versions too. Space Truckers !
I'm quite impressed with the Hull A. I'm more interested in the Hull C but depending on how the trade system works I could see the Hull A being a nice option for a shorter more relaxed play session.
That Lorville approach shot is simply outstanding.
Not sure I buy the insect metaphor, but everything else seems pretty spot on. The camera work is gorgeous, great work on that!
Great video by the way Morph!
been waiting to see the Hull series in action since I first pledged. Love it!
As well as the alternative hauler: The Railen
I also didn't know this was in-game yet, since you can't purchase it in-game, and the loaner ship is the freelancer for when it cannot be used.
It doesn't pretend to be more than it's humble purpose, but it's gonna look sleek and respectable doing it!
on our fishing vessel, you have to go into the state room, and use a hatch to get to the engine room
I love these architect reviews vids, you've piqued my interest and are making me consider pursuing a career as an architect
@@logicalChimp one would be sleeping / prepping food or do stuff while the other one is driving. Hotbunking :)
Best thing about new ships is the fantastic reviews by our boi morph.
As an avid space trucker in Elite: Dangerous, I absolutely love this ship. It's exactly everything I want in a space truck.
These reviews are my favorite SC content.
Honestly I this puts the Freelancer that I love and cherish to shame. The Freelancer now looks and feels as old as its OG concept all thanks to this amazing little hauler
I hope CIG does a complete redesign of the Freelancer.
I suspect CIG will come around to making some changes to the freelancer once it reaches gold pass.
The analog buttons are so cool, wish eclipse had them, having tesla in general made me realize how terrible all the screens can be for the actual use of the machine
@Morph: I think they started making light options with the MSR if I recall.
Thanks for the video and cheers from Montréal, Canada
I'm currently looking around for a daily driver when flight week comes over next month and those videos are exactly what I need.
@morphologis is an architect working in Taiwan?! I have a house in Taiwan, and I have to say architects do amazing work in Taiwan. They pay far more attention to details, usability, and livability; especially when compared to the vast majority of architects I've worked with in the US.
👍
I love my HULL but I can definitely say that it's best performance is in space. In Atmos, you have to be careful with the movement of it. Otherwise you might lose some altitude when banking or turning. I recommend using the yaw axis to turn in Atmos. Like a truck keeping it level.
I’m literally watching this video because I missed your voice lol. It’s so calming! Love your videos!
