Tried programmed a new used unlock OEM smart key for 2013 Prius, but at the final step after placing a new key next to the power button and beeped, it never registered at the final step after putting it on passenger seat. I suspected a bad used key or low battery voltage? Any advise? I always worked most of the time for other customers(unless the key as bad with it didn't beep at all). It was interested b/c it actually gave me a beep, but not a second beep after placing it on a passenger seat.
Just a couple of questions about non smart keys(2014 Corolla). 1. When you program the 2nd key do you have to put it in the ignition lock with it turned to ignition on, or do you program it with the already programmed original key in the ignition and the new 2nd key in your hand? 2. I have read that new keys will automatically sync to the immobilizer, and I assume used keys returned to virgin status will as well but member "realized" says below that this "does not work to program the transponder chip". If that is the case how is the transponder chip programmed to work? Thanks.
1) Yes you need a working programmed key in order to program a new one. Follow instructions on screen for Key programming. 2) NO, Nothing will automatically sync to the imbolizer

@@IOCaneTech My Prius don't have a smart key. So I might be good. I got the key cut and door lock/unlock programed. Is it still in Main body that I will find that or the transponder has it own ECU ?
@@pierrel6778 I honestly don't remember I have only done it once many years ago, and like I said never did a video on it. But it was pretty easy, just look around in the ECU's until you find it. If I recall the Imobolizer has its own ECU. But again it was like 7 or 8 years ago I did it so I don;t recall. Good luck :)
It's very similar, I don't have a video of it because I don't have a car that needs those keys, so I have no way to make a video of it unless you want to bring your car to me and I can record doing it on your car :)

+Almaz Isakov IF you have the correct version then it should program that an a vehicle that new. That's it how dealerships program remotes and keys. They don't use door procedures... OR there was an aftermarket system on the vehicle

Great video Steve. I have a 2008 tundra. The key fobs will not program with TIS. The diagnostic code does give one single bleep only. Indicating the fobs are talking with the truck just won't program? Any suggestions?
funman1steve Well at this point I am not really sure about anything. It appears to be the correct one. The big difference I noticed on your video is that your car beeps twice to enter programming mode. My truck never gives that indication but does respond to the remote in the diagnostic mode.
IIRC you must be online to use the smart key features. And since it's prolly a hacked copy you can't go online. :( Dealer will prolly have to do that for you.
+Dimitar Naidov That is a whole different procedure and you MUST purchase a SEED CODE from a website to reuse a used FOB. They take a special one time use code to reuse a keyless remote. You can find some limited information on websites like ToyotaNation.com and such but that is VERY tricky and takes special codes. Even DEALERS will not reprogram used smartkeys. If you have a NEW smart key then you can program in Techstream with little to no issues, but used is HIGHLY tricky.
I have a REALLY old Version. I don;t track changes with different versions to know what's best. I just know my version (v8.0) works for everything I need, and it even works on a 2019 Highlander.
Because keys and wireless FOBs are completely different and not even attached to each other. Also my vehicle does not have an imoblizer so I can't show something my vehicle does not have. There is menu options in there if your vehicle is equipped. Do what I did if you have imobilizer, I just played with the software till I figured it out and then made a video to help others.

Hi, if I have a hard code for a transmission solenoid that wouldn't clear and the exact same code remained after replacing the transmission could this scanner tool clear it? The one at my local shop could not. Thanks in advance
Don't know you could try but it almost sounds like the ECU or wiring may be at fault instead of the actual transmission. They should also clear if the battery is left unplugged for several hours.
Yes the vehicle syncs to the remote, the remote does not sync to the vehicle. So a used remote is just fine. (Unless you are talking about a Smart Key which is COMPLETELY different!!)
question, I'm trying to do a wireless code registration and when I try to begin the process I get a message saying it failed. Could having the max number of allowed remotes be a cause for that?
@@historyguy77 There is another menu item there to test if the remote signal is detected at all. It's been many years since I got in there but there is a test that shows ANY signal so you can test the remote.

Bach Le It has to be a special cable, it's not just any ODBII to USB cable you need the special cable that should have come with the software you bought...

I get the same error. It fails immediately in registration, erasure, or diagnostic. I don't get to the part that says how many codes are stored

Then your remote battery is dead, or your remote is broken, or you have the wrong remote. Not any Toyota remote will program to any Toyota vehicle...
