In all honesty doesn't matter what kind of car whether it's internal combustion or electric there's so much plastic in there that's known to contain carcinogens, then you jump into a car after it's been sitting in the sun all day it releases more of that.
That's why the cancer is such a epidemic in this country we're surrounded by plastic

Another great video! I just put new tires in March and increased my wheel size by 2" diameter. My previous tires still had the minimal requirement of 4/32", the threshold for replacing them. But these old tires had hardened way before that and started slipping a lot on the road, and it was terrible on wet days. The difference: the new wheels each weigh 6lbs more even though they are alloys that replaced the steel wheels, not to mention the new tires that were surely heavier.
The result: I got better mileage on the highway - about 2-3 mpg more, but about the same or maybe

I recently had to take a long road trip for work (about 500 miles each way). I took one of the company Ford Transit cargo vans because I had about 350 pounds of equipment in the back. On the drive home, minus the 350 pounds of equipment, I actually got 5 mpg better. I was shocked that extra 350 pounds made that big of a difference in mpg.

Scotty, I remember when cars had "wind wings" , little windows in the front triangular area of the side window, they were great. And with my 95 Dakota 3.9 Magnum V6 turning on the AC drops the mileage 3-4 mpg, down to 18 mpg. I think for a more powerful V8 it might not matter that much not to use AC but on less powerful 4- & 6-cylinder cars i think not using the AC makes a big difference. I can feel like a big boat anchor being thrown out onto the road when I turn on the AC.

He said that I need to put a tank full of mid grade or higher fuel every once in a while. Since I started doing that I noticed that those tanks showed a slight MPG improvement over regular tanks.

Never go by the suggested tire pressure info tag in your car's door jam. Inflate all tires to 3 psi under the max pressure stamped in the sidewall actually nets 7% better mileage

    • @CG-rb4xo
      @CG-rb4xo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Great advice. However, I would also advise people to pay attention to the ambient temperature, realizing that the psi will increase or decrease approximately 1 psi with every 10 degree change in ambient temperature. This could affect tire pressure monitors if your psi goes above the maximum, and it could definitely happen if there is more than a 30 or 40 degree change in temperature. Noteworthy, your tire pressure will also increase while driving it, although less so because with the increased pressure comes less friction and less heat. This usually happens more, and creates a much larger change in psi while driving whenever the tire pressure is set much lower.

Testing a tank: my wife's car got 22mpg with E85 highway and 40mpg (same highway) with std pump gas. I expected 32, but not a 45% hit. The e85 was only a 70 cent discount....so not worth it unless the e85 is half the price or less....then you have to fill up more often...twice as often in her case.

    • @jakedcrane8019

If your wife's car has been driven most of time on standard pump gas. You need to drive the car minimum of three tanks with E85 before it can give its best mpg because first tank of high content ethanol fuel always begins doing cleaning job to fuel system to remove all the dirt, varnish, toxic BTEX(from USA E10 gas).

    • @jthomas3773

Hey Scotty, quick question! I have a darling black '96 Toyota Camry in great condition. Is the power steering fluid reservoir - is that the transmission fluid? I got the car around 100,000~ miles, in late 2019 and I have no idea if the transmission fluid has ever been drained/replaced. The fluid reservoir for power steering got low a number of months back and I just filled it up to the fill line. Given the age of the vehicle, and the unknown about whether it's been replaced, should I drain it and refill with some anti-slip or, should I just keep it at the fill line and watch it?

Hope someone can answer this, i have a 2018 sierra duramax with a lift and tires. When i set the cruise to 70, it shows 70 but i am really going 74ish. Mpg shows 15-16. Based on the speed discrepancy does this mean i am getting better or worse diesel mileage per gallon?

Hi. Been watching your videos from day one. I use 5w-30 Mobile 1 full synthetic. Have a 2006 Toyota Corolla. Has about 67 thousand miles. I don’t drive that much. Change my oil like every three months. I check the oil once a week or whenever I gas up.

I prefer to save the most expensive part.
So i 99% brake using the pads.
Only rarely do i engine brake, but only when in a single gear for a long distance.
Mostly when slowing down from high speeds in 5th gear.

I've run E85 in my '14 Silverado and definately get 25-30% lower MPG. Best tips: don't accelerate hard from a green light and coast into a red light instead of flying in and breaking hard. The best MPG i've gotten over a 25mile range was nearly 33miles with the V6.

you don't wanna do half tanking. may work in hot climate but anywhere where it's moist alot of time this lets the moist air get in the fuel tank and make the fuel tank rust on inside. if you fill it all the way then there is no room for moist air
