Hey everyone, hope you like this new format for covering games. I think it will allow for taking on more specific subjects and a broader variety of titles. I'll still be recording most of my playthrough of Yakuza 0 and doing as many deep dives as possible through this format until I finish it. You can keep up with those recordings here in the archive here for free: pixeldrain.com/l/CvnDsxek. I have lots of plans for covering Yakuza this way as well as some other titles, and I'm always open to recommendations for other games, especially as doing things this way doesn't necessitate me making content on a whole playthrough. If you have a game or a subject that you think would be interesting to hear a psychological perspective on, let me know! Enjoy!
I'll be following your playthrough on pixeldrain because i'm absolutely loving your coverage of Yakuza 0. I always loved psychology and storytelling so i got a degree in communication in order to always be in touch with those things. Yakuza is also my favorite franchise so this series is like the best combination ever for me. I hope you'll keep on playing the saga after Zero and turning on the camera just to speak your mind about it! No editing needed, it's perfect!
i'm glad you nailed the bit where he prioritizes his friends and mentors over himself. this is explored more in infinite wealth and i think you'll be quite happy on how it develops
Just finished watching, and what a great start to the series! I learned a lot and enjoyed it thoroughly. I can't wait for more episodes on Yakuza and other series too! Also fun moments at the end, can't wait to binge the playthrough
I love how much you're able to break down over what is essentially a grain of sand in a franchise spanning thousands of hours of deep conflict. Can't wait to see what you think of how these characters develop!
Cool video, very nice analysis! Just a tiny correction however, the man Kiryu's loyal to is KAZAMA not KAZUMA. Kazuma is Kiryu's first name. Kiryu Kazuma and Kazama Shintaro. It's a little confusing I know, just a heads up for next time.
Great video! Definitely will be watching every upload of this and all the VoDs of Yakuza as well, been waiting for a deep psychological dive in Yakuza for a while now and I'm happy it's finally coming true :D
these videos are my meth. I've always been super interested in psychology and these videos scratch a weird itch in my brain. when I was a teenager I wanted to be a psychologist but I never really pursued it, my high schools friends laughed and told me not to pursue it cause I would end up fucking someone up. I used to think I liked it because it's cool, but I realized later on that I have an almost pathological need to understand people. I've never understood why people *are* the way they are, why they do what they do, and that type of stuff. I've always been hyper aware of myself and it puzzles me when people don't even know or understand themselves. Stuff like why telling something that they did something wrong is considered impolite, since people can't get better or do better if they don't know they did something wrong, I just don't understand. My husband says I'm a Vulcan and I take it as a compliment. I suspect that I might have autism but I don't have the means or want for a diagnosis so I guess I'll never know. I'm currently reading NeuroLogic: The Brain's Hidden Rationale Behind Our Irrational Behavior because I am really so into why do we do the things we do and I've learned so much. I just wanted to learn some science but it has helped me understand myself better and other people so much; it's really a stealth self help book but like an actual useful self help book. I learned that the prefrontal cortex controls executive function and that when we're experiencing a heightened state of emotion the prefrontal cortex just turns off, and that's why we end up saying means things we don't mean when we're angry, and stuff like that. that and many other things from that book have helped me better regulate my emotions and understand others, or to help others when they beat themselves up over things they can't control. And I feel like I'm getting the same from your all videos. I know that was a long rant and it's probably confusing why I'm going on a rant about this. I *LOVE* this type of videos (and I also love the playthroughs! even though I normally hate playthroughs). When you showed some charts about child behavior in the video about Cuno and Cunoesse I was reading them completely mesmerized. This shit is SO interesting to me. And the stuff covered in this video is so good too. I can't wait for the next ones. All this to say that yes, I do enjoy this format. This is a perfect overlap of my interests and I'm glad I found this channel.

NieR Automata would be fascinating to hear your psychological perspective on
you mentioned playing What Remains of Edith Finch… any news on that? This was a neat video
So there still gonna be both edited vods?
Definitely when I get around to it!

You're gonna have a field day or three by the time you're in the Majima stages of the game.
"My diagnosis? Majima is a perfectly stable person who has healthy coping mechanisms for the trauma he suffered. No notes!"
I would love also on what of his thoughts on the three lieutenants, that would be pretty cool!

Oh, he’d love Lisa the Painful, on the psychological front.

This was a very lovely video to watch! I've always wanted to see you do videos like these, and I'm not at all disappointed! Can't wait for more.
Glad to see you back in action. I think this show will be fun to watch!

The Dragon Of Dojima 🐲
day 1 of asking for Shin or Lena. I know you want it !
I think everybody who saw this and heard the first 2 minutes, had to be screaming "If you went one more chapter you'd see the poster boy for this..."
