As Odisha was under the Bengal province, many Odia ppl went to calcutta in search of work. As per a demography report, their population was one lakh in calcutta during early decade of 20th century. So the emigration might have started earlier during the second half of 19th century.Many Odia had worked as chefs in Bengali families. And tht's how many dishes travelled TO Bengal FROM Odisha. These facts are reflected in the autobiographies of the contemporary period. The region of present day Odisha and Bihar have a long ancient history but it is really interesting how Bengal got so much prominence because it was the main centre of British. And the culture of Odisha lost its prominence and losing many legal fights just because things were not OFFICIALLY recorded, registered and archived.

There is no mention about Dandi Ramayana where rasagola is mentioned .Which is written in 15th century ad . In chappan bhog list,many dishes prepared from chenna are there from centuries. Why we think chenna wasn't prepared before the arrival of portuguese? If Dandi Ramayana would have been written by any Bengali, Bengalis would have taken the credit of making chenna or cheese.

In Odisha, rasgulla is a traditional sweet since the appearance of Lord Jagannath . In Ratha yaatra there is a ritual in which Lord Jagannath offers rasgulla to Goddess Laxmi while entering into Shree mandir. But due to lack of publicity Odisha lost the credit of rasgulla

Umm you do know that both states got GI tag for different Rosogola?. Odia rosogola is different than Bengali Rosogola.We both have Rosogola but the recipes are different.

Rasgola originated from Odisha, as it has been serving as a offering for Mahalaximi Prasad in Jagannath Temple since more than 1000 years. So Rasgola originated from Odisha Puri, not from Bengal. But it got more famous in Bengal. Chenna has been used in all Odia sweets since ages.

Lots of Bengali are part of iskcon and comes to Puri ratha Yatra every year to witness Jagannath and maa laxmi premlila on Niladri bije and it's now even telecast on tv also but still they argue that rasagola is of Bengal.
Epic is hardly ever wrong.the sweet in question is Banglar rosogolla that was awarded a GI tag in 2017 and yes there exists another sweet, the Odisha rasagola which was awardeda GI tag later in 2019.they are two different sweets,even their colour and texture is different.anyone who has tried both will know the difference.Epic's discussion is about the rasogolla which is commonly called rasgulla and not about the rasagola.and both the sweets have their own GI tags.its not as if one's GI tag was stripped and given to another.and just saying Epic places very well researched material for us to enjoy and learn so kudos to the team.
Odisha has got GI tag for Odia Rasogulla. You can't just take name of Bengal only. You have to give reference of its Origin in Odisha dated 12th century. Do proper study before making any videos on any topic.

Rosogolla, as known in kolkata, is made of chhana and kheer mohan is made of kheer. Both are different. So, of course kheer mohan is from Odisha. But rosogolla is from Kolkata. Both look the same. But they are not actually same. So when it comes to rosogolla, it is west Bengal and for kheer mohan, it's Odisha. Also, chhana was not popular in India. It was popularized in India later by the Portuguese. So, if Odisha is indeed claiming the rosogolla to be their own, they are actually claiming the kheer mohan, which is originally theirs. Anyways, both are tasty. 😋

Puri Jagannath Temple was built around 1161 AD and Rasgulla ( Rasagola) has been served to the lord since then or maybe during that period by the name "Khira Mohana". Nobin Chandra Das picked up the idea and made it famous. Get your facts right Epic Channel. Go through the history of Lord Jagannath rather than foreign travellers stories. FYI: Jagmohan Ramayana written in 15th century by Balarama Dasa says about how Rasagola aka Khira Mohana relation to The Jagannath Culture.

Before going into the debate people of Orissa should know that Bengal is different in many respects from rest of India. Bengalis take boiled rice while it is unknown to rest of India. Bengalis take sweet curd while rest of India takes sour curd. Bengalis take pond fish while rest of India takes river and sea fish. Bengalis follow tantric system of worship while rest of India follows Vedic system. Bengalis follow mitakshara system of laws while rest of India follows dayabhaga system. So when 6ana or paneer was considered impure in rest of India it was not used for offering to god. But Bengal and Bengalis used it.
bengal was given the GI tag of the sweet but not for the origin of the sweet ... but you are showing that it originated in kolkata ..this is a case of more developed state using it's popularity and power to claim something which isn't her...And popular chanels like your's supporting them

Being a bangali i can't live without my Bangla culture, tradition, wisdom, literature and my birth place is Odisha, so it is also like my mother land. I am inclined to both the places with utmost respect and love. That's why before british there was no rosgula in bengal history, but about rosgola in odisha script it mentioned before Mugal era and after producing this proof again we get GI tag of Rasgula, which you have own before as our government didn't take it serious initially. So the emigration might have started earlier during the second half of 19th century.Many Odia had worked as chefs in Bengali families. And tht's how many dishes travelled TO Bengal FROM Odisha. These facts are reflected in the autobiographies of the contemporary period. The region of present day Odisha and Bihar have a long ancient history but it is really interesting how Bengal got so much prominence because it was the main centre of British. And the culture of Odisha lost its prominence and losing many legal fights just because things were not OFFICIALLY recorded, registered and archived.
But Rasgulla travelled to odisha from Kolkata.

Rosogolla, as known in kolkata, is made of chhana and kheer mohan is made of kheer. Both are different. So, of course kheer mohan is from Odisha. But rosogolla is from Kolkata. Both look the same. But they are not actually same. So when it comes to rosogolla, it is west Bengal and for kheer mohan, it's Odisha. Also, chhana was not popular in India. It was popularized in India later by the Portuguese. So, if Odisha is indeed claiming the rosogolla to be their own, they are actually claiming the kheer mohan, which is originally theirs. Anyways, both are tasty. 😋

Puri Jagannath Temple was built around 1161 AD and Rasgulla ( Rasagola) has been served to the lord since then or maybe during that period by the name "Khira Mohana".

India takes sour curd. Bengalis take pond fish while rest of India takes river and sea fish. Bengalis follow tantric system of worship while rest of India follows Vedic system. Bengalis follow mitakshara system of laws while rest of India follows dayabhaga system. So when 6ana or paneer was considered impure in rest of India it was not used for offering to god. Being a bangali i can't live without my Bangla culture, tradition, wisdom, literature and my birth place is Odisha, so it is also like my mother land. Bengal invented chhana/Chhena during Portugese rule in eastern India.Chhana is a main ingredient of Rosogolla.Arter it's invention Sweet makers of Nadia district invented 1st Rosogolla in 16 th century.
After some time,Mahaprabhu Sri Chaitanya migrated from Nadia--Puri to live at his ancestoral land (1509-1533).And then he introduced Banglar Rosogolla(Santipur , Ranaghat Rosogolla)in Odia society. But, odia people banned chhena/chhana in their temple because it is a distorted milk product.And they killed mahaprabhu in puri.Odia reference 'Dandi Ramayan' ,written in 1467 by Balram das, which odia people are introducing as proof to claim "Banglar Rosogolla".It's origial copy is not available.Original 'Dandi Ramayan' was written in 'Tal Patra'.
Morden copy of 'Dandi Ramayan' is duplicate & pretty much distorted by Re-writers.Re-writers added "Rosgola" word in their distorted 'Dandi Ramayan'.
