In Assam, black til laddos are especially made during Maagh Bihu or Makar Sankranti and offered to the Agni..
In West Bengal, before Lokkhi puja, Til laddoo is made, basically white til. And I like this immensely.

Til laddus are made in many parts of India. I live in Jharkhand and here Til laddus are made in Makar Sankranti and usually we call it ‘Til ka ladua ie तिल का लड़ुआ’.

Yes, it's is overall true that sesame seed of different colours+ sizes are from India. Its raw seeds are in high demand for eating & manufacturing oils in other countries & here. Like, Consumption of it in East Asian countries is high that's why demand is high from India because of its flavour & aroma of seeds & the oil produced from it. ❣️

My grandfather used to tell that this is the only festival of our which is closely related to Vedic ritual.
