An interesting review of something invaluable to those on a budget needing a long focus lens. As a hobbiest railway photographer, now and again, I might want to photography a steam train in landscape across a stretch of water, with hills in the far distance, and the train about three quarters of a mile away. My camera would be tripod mounted, and I'd be hoping to get a decent still photo, on a DSLR with FX size sensor. For me, it would be really helpful to see side-by-side comparison shots with a marque lens covering this focal length; and also a comparison with a cheap, catadioptric (mirror) lens.

This lens is compatible with a lot of cameras, if you get the correct T-mount adapter - with a matching thread to your camera you should be able to use it 👍

I am sorry I am not sure about the specifics on that model, but generally there should be settings for it -so you can take shots even if no lens is attached. The camera is not communicating with the manual lens so it thinks that - there is no lens.

Yes, as long as you use the correct T-mount adapter you should be able to mount it an use it with the matching camera. For a lot of canon cameras you will need a Canon EF-S T-mount adapter. Of course that will vary based on the specific model of the camera that you have.

Yes, this is a manual focusing lens, you turn the focusing ring to get it in focus.
If you stack and process the moon video i promise it will look much better
The goal wasn't to get optimal results, it was to test the capabilities of the lens when shooting still photographs and when shooting a video. I shoot still photographs primarily and I stack the ones I use. I don't usually stack video files.. How exactly do you suggest stacking a video file ?
@@EsteeWhitePhotography you can allign every frame of the moon in an avi file in a program called pipp, and when the moon is alligned you should get it in the output folder you chose, and then you can stack it in sequator, or you can convert the frames of video files into single pictures and allign every frame with pipp and then stack it with sequator, but it was a nice review, nice lens for such a price
Ah, you mean to make a stack by extracting the frames from the video, I get you now. Sounds interesting, yes I'm curious to see what results I can get, will definitely give it a try first chance I get, thank you for the idea :)
@@EsteeWhitePhotography no problem at all, oh and you can use darktable to do the enhancements like the effects, the colors, the brightness, exposure, everything, if you want i can show some of my examples in facebook
Tripods work great for heavy lenses.
They do in some cases :) But they can also be restricting, for example when I shoot fast moving objects - like squirrels, birds, then a tripod just gets in a way. But for astro and steady objects they are a must :)

Get watching the videos BEFORE commenting 👍9:27 also - focus bracketing of the moon - which I am talking about in the video, cannot be done successfully without a tripod 👍
