  • I end up getting a great deal on this 1986 Honda ATC 350x three wheeler. These three wheelers were only made for two years making them extremely rare, and extremely valuable to collectors. This is also one of the most powerful three wheelers to ever hit the markets. #Honda, #350x, #King,

I owned this probably 4 years ago, the original motor threw a rod and my brother helped me piece another motor together. It was the first bottom end we had ever done so we think we messed up something in the trans and that's why it won't shift. Also that's a 300ex duel row bearing carrier and an 86 style sprocket.

One more thing to add about the 350X I was flat tracking it through some trails at about 60 miles an hour on a turn slid out hit a tree the shifter side footpeg went through the bottom of my Motocross boot and into my foot and out the top it took six reconstructive surgeries to save the end of my foot they were wanting to amputate it I finally met a surgeon who did an awesome job still have a little pain and arthritis now that I'm 50 years old but nothing I can't handle, the surgeon that I met turned out to be a huge motorcycle fan we became friends he showed me his collection of Yamaha rz350 s 4 Kenny Roberts replicas he has since passed away oh the stories I could share about my life and motorcycles I've been riding since I was 4 years old my father raced CZ motocross bikes in the 1960s and 70s it's in the blood...

Nice wheeler however not even close to the “rarest”. There were fewer 1986 and 1987 ATC 125M’s, 250ES Big Red’s & ATC 200’s then these in terms of honda. you’re forgetting other manufacturers like kawi, Cagiva, Tiger etc. only 2 Tiger 500’s are known to exist today for example. MUCH more rare wheelers by far. Also i’ve never heard anybody refer to this wheeler as “the king”. If you wanted the big dog or “the king” from honda at the time, you got the 250R plain and simple. Wasn’t trying to degrade you or the vid just a trike enthusiast spitting facts.

First I got to say I love your videos, I had a 1986 350 X it was only 2 months old when I bought it in 1986 a guy had drove it in the water hydrolocked it and broke the camshaft in half! I bought it from a police officer in Jacksonville Florida for $600 back then he said the bike was ruined I was just a teenager at the time went to a friend of mine who raced atc's and ATVs at the time he helped me we remove the head and sent it to a company he told me about called poweroll took 4 months to get the head back bigger cam port and polish bigger valves three angle valve grind. We never touch the bottom in bone stock piston we also bought a custom-built exhaust from Power role had it shipped back with the head, drop the front sprocket down to teeth and a set of paddle tires on the back I was out running just about everything I drag race in the sand dunes I was killing stock banshees when they first came out the only thing I couldn't outrun back then with my brothers Quadzilla but I didn't have to worry about that too much because every three runs sumbitch would break the Piston skirt

The 250R was better suspended, had better frame/steering geometry and far superior handling. There was nothing a 350X did that the 250R didn't do better.

They were cool , but they were not the King , the 250r's were always the king for three wheelers , along with the TriZ's and theTecate's , all of them would kick the rap out of the 350 X . Even with a ton of engine work " stroked crank ,cam , carb , pipe etc " a piped , jetted 250R would just spank the 350's up Comp Hill at Pismo , in a flat drag race or on the tracks . Seen it , done it and saw so many others doing the same thing back in the day . Doesn't mean I don't like the 350's , they just are good for different types of people and types of riding . They're both Awesome trikes and fun as crap to ride .

@@easylee1417 The single cylinder will definately get better fuel economy than a large bore twin. Also mods are cheaper with the single (one carb, one exhaust) -overall costs and fuel costs are about 1/2. The Honda 250r motor is very reliable and you can get 310cc, 330cc+ cylinders for it if you need more. Low and wide is what you want for trail (lowering rear link, wider axle (or get the wheel spacers $50-100) .
Overall the stock Atc250r and TRX250r will hold their value better than a modified race machine = you can get good deals on race parts, but keep all those stock parts (Hirata gold rims (heavy), pipe and especially the original plastics if you ever see them -very brittle and worth big money).
More importantly than all that is that you need some 2-stroke experience especially with the jetting (could always get a dial-a-jet etc).
Yamaha Blasters are 200cc air cooled 2-strokes. =Fun and cheap and can be modified. Great starter trail 2-strokes $1K+

C'mon dude, you didn't even mention the most important difference between the two?! Yes the 250r was liquid cooled but it wasn't a 4-stroke anymore. Honda went with the liquid cooled 2-stroke for racing purposes. This left out customers that weren't interested in purchasing a 2-stroke or racing motorcycle. So my thoughts are that Honda would develop a 4-stroke 3 wheeler. Obviously a xr 100 thru the 200 wouldn't have been able to compare to the 250 2-stroke. So the 350 4-stroke is born.
