Could This Be The Rarest Honda ATC 250R?? Take A Tour With The Infamous Tricycle Guy And Find Out!!

  • I had the opportunity to meet up with tricycle/Honda ATC aficionado "Tricycle Guy" recently who so graciously showed me his massive collection of very nice and some, extremely special Honda three wheelers. We didn't have an endless amount of time unfortunately, so this tour was just hitting the high spots of his collection. This down and dirty tour includes multiple ATC 250R's, multiple ATC 200X's, multiple Big Reds and GOBS of NOS Hondaline accessories. It's seriously drool worthy.
    One of the machines in his collection is a odd looking air cooled ATC 250R that looks like someone cobbed it together in their garage... but upon closer inspection, the details surrounding this machine tell a different story. Check it out and learn more by following these two links to very detailed videos that Tricycle Guy did on it.
    Part 1 - • Strange 250r
    Part 2 - • strange 250R part 2
    While you're watching those videos, make sure to subscribe and click the bell for Tricycle Guy and tell him what a sick, unique machine that is!
    Thanks for watching!

    When I was 8 years old my dad came home with a 86 250 Big Red brand new. What a machine I literally grew up on that bike it ran hard and strong for at least 20 years and man I put that Trike through hell and back. Flipped it and sank it more times than I can remember and yes I have the scars to prove it and that was gust me never mind the abuse my dad put it through. Transmission eventually broke now it sits behind the barn all clapped out. I might try to fix 1 day I'm sure it will still run but it's been a least 15 long cold winter's since the last time any heat came out of that tail pipe so I don't know. Of course it will it's a Honda. 🤞

    I started out on a 1970 ATC 90. Balloon tires, 4 speed with a low and high, no clutch. I freaking loved that thing. I remember when the 250R came out…super exciting. In 1983 my mom bought me a brand new ATC 200X. i put a wider axle, low profile tires, answer bars, Bassani pipe, 28mm Kiehin carb, tank scoops. Loved it. Loved both my ATCs. They were both bullet proof.
    I always wanted a 300X. 3 wheelers are the best.

      @@ThisOldTrike definitely none of those things, my 90 was red. The guy that got it from me painted it yellow. Was a pretty yellow, but I think it looked better red. Love this, I'm probably around you guys age, grew up on 3 wheelers, parents bought my younger brother and I 3 wheelers, I got a 250 SX, brother got a 110, my dad had a 200X that he did everything that was possible back then to make it make more HP, he had it bored out, sent the crank out to Rolle Bros, had multiple different pipes on it I recall, but stuck with the DG, had the suspension done too, this thing had such high compression, he had to run avgas in it, we liked to flat track race them, it easily beat a stock 250 ..... I miss those days.... I would still buy a 3 wheeler over a 4 wheeler any day if they still made them, u had to know how to ride a 3 wheeler and not everybody could, they weren't dangerous, they were FUN...

    I had a Basani header on my 84 Yamaha 225 back in the day. Rarely hear of them. It sure took a few trips to convince Dad to drop 2200 bucks on a trike in 84 since a grand would buy about anything you wanted prior to water cooling taking over on most models. The prices really started to climb in mid 80s

    I started in 74 with a 90 and the Balloon Tires, then a 78 90, then a 80 110 that I tricked out with 125cc, cam, intake, carb, low profiles, straight header and wider axle plus lots of weight loss. Then an 81 250R and the same trick outs basically as a Desert Racer, then an 84 200X and finally a 85 250R with Paul Turner kit and pipe as well as suspension work that was just wicked! I tried riding a 250 QuadRacer when the 4 wheelers came out and HATED it!

    The '83 at 2:43 looks to have a 36mm carb? That would mean it may have 300+cc? If you're interested in selling it, I'd be interested in buying it just for the motor. I think it's the desert racing motor with a polished high compression piston and cylinder.

    • @tricycleguy2657
      @tricycleguy2657 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a standard jug bored to a 77mm so it's 295cc 36mm carb v force reeds bassani pipe it's technically not a desert, national, or mx motor. just big displacement..the 300 kit is 7 head bolts DG sunburst heads are 6 bolt so that method was use to make that head work, it's a handful to ride and not for sale thanks for watching

    What's really cool is to remember walking into a Honda shop or Suzuki whatever one and seeing all if these brand new and for sale. The Hinda ATC holds near and dear but my all time favorite will always be seeing the new LT500 quadracer sitting on the showroom floor Of Dicks Suzuki.

    That's probably a 3B lightning 250r bike. Bob "Ace" Williams built prototypes for honda. There is a newspaper article stating his accident at 3B Lightning testing a all new 250r.
